@@solarstorm50 I absolutely do! Basically about 35 bucks for Gaurd pieces. Then if you look and see mokume bars going for $350+ for one piece you realize why it’s worth it!

Bob, you know I really didn't notice it heating up very much. I kept high grit belts and so I kept the speed to about 40% of the machine and that really seems to work well for me with anything higher than 220 grit.

Well it was just hickory, but now that it broke, I am back to square 1. I am considering a steel bolt connection now with a steel through tang for the handle this time around. What do you think I should try?

Answering your question: No. From what I have been told it’s a 50% loss with canister, but it seems to be about the same with layered Damascus, which shocks me. Like where does it go? (As I step over piles of scale)
