      @@seanmaherry3446 these questions get asked a lot. But a great example would be the penny press machine in the state capitol of Montana that will make a souvenir. Making jewelry isn’t illegal.       @@solarstorm50 I absolutely do! Basically about 35 bucks for Gaurd pieces. Then if you look and see mokume bars going for $350+ for one piece you realize why it’s worth it!

    I feel your pain! One trick I have done is to dimple the hole with a dremel diamond bur bit. Just enough to let the bits bite. On one occasion, even that didnt work and I had to very slowly bur my way all of the way through.

    did you find the brass heated up when grinding? Or did you have the speed turned down a bit? I cant wait to see the end product!

      Bob, you know I really didn't notice it heating up very much. I kept high grit belts and so I kept the speed to about 40% of the machine and that really seems to work well for me with anything higher than 220 grit.

    I have the KMG-TX as well, and I love it. I was inspired to get it by ABS Master bladesmith Ed Caffrey. It really is the best of the best on the market.

      Well it was just hickory, but now that it broke, I am back to square 1. I am considering a steel bolt connection now with a steel through tang for the handle this time around. What do you think I should try?

      I’ll keep you posted for sure. Right now we are in the figuring it out, breaking bits and blowing fuses. I tell you what I feel like I am 80/20: shop set up/knife making time. I am sure it will payout soon, but past year and half has been exhausting!

      Answering your question: No. From what I have been told it’s a 50% loss with canister, but it seems to be about the same with layered Damascus, which shocks me. Like where does it go? (As I step over piles of scale)
