Sosua has a fair amount of prostitution but they are in the process of making it more "family friendly" and we hope they succeed. Puerto Plata has exactly ZERO "open" prostitution and is a proper town. This video was shot in Costambar near Puerto Plata. It is a small, quaint beach town with mainly expats from all around the world. Although some form of prostitution exists just about everywhere, it is definitely not noticeable in Puerto Plata or Costambar. You should come and visit so you can see for yourself :)

The State of Emergency/lockdown has officially ended, however some restrictions remain in place. The most significant of which is the requirement to show proof of vaccine to enter any business, building or location where there are likely to be a number of people indoors such as banks, government buildings, grocery stores, cinemas, etc. You can also use proof of a negative covid test within 7 days if you're not vaccinated. Masks are also in use in these same locations and others but are not enforced in smaller businesses for the most part. The curfew is no longer as well so things are much better and more free, as it were.
