The ugly old concrete was the ordnance dam. It was built in World War 2 to manufacture ammunition for the war . It was a big massive facility and was top secret

It wasn't the engine lag per say. The wing was the issue, if got into a rate of decent outside normal you couldn't power out of it. There was a lot of hard landings early on.

I love this and find all things about commercial jets fascinating, I particularly love the tri-jets like the DC-10, L-1011 and the 727. I love the sound of jet engines starting and the power and sound at takeoff, where can I go do this?? Awesome video!

As a passenger, I hated flying in those old single isle jets on the fuselage jets in the 80-90's. I always had to seat in the rear next to the loud ass engines, the AC was always terrible. Uggghhh glad they are all retired.

When I ran a flight school at KRIC we'd watch many times the FedEX 727 come unstuck on the threshold of the opposite runway that they were using....I used to always wonder what the pilots were thinking as those threshold markings got closer and closer.

By the sound of this particular 727 I don't think it's been fitted with a hush kit. That makes it more rare, and valuable. Literally, what a blast this must have been to start it.
