Great episode on Buddy Holly. You are so right, Buddy did pave the way for Rock and Roll even more so than Elvis. Buddy’s songs he wrote had meaning…such as That’ll Be The Day inspired after Burry and JI having watched a John Wayne movie, changing the song Cindy Lou to Peggy Sue for JI’s girlfriend, and Maybe Baby because Buddy’s mother came up with the title and wanted Buddy to finish the lyrics. It’s also unique that they experimented with the music and did different things at Norman Petty’s recording studio to make the songs really stand out. It’s impressive how many great songs were produced in such a very, very short time before his death and how many songs became great hits after his death. Had Buddy not gotten married so soon as he did and had Maria Elana not gotten pregnant, Buddy therefore would not had experienced any of that before leaving this world so soon. Norman Petty owed Buddy a substantial amount of money that he delayed paying him which he needed for living in New York. Buddy decided to join the winter party tour to earn extra money until he got established in New York. Had Norman Petty just gave him what he was owed he would not have gone on the tour. I also blame the owner of the charter company, Jerry Dwyer, for not piloting the plane himself in such conditions. Actually he should have denied any flights out due to the weather report.

You might mention that both boys were told by their parents a year before the killings that they were no longer in the will. Jose controlled everything they did. Money was not an issue with the boys. They had wanted love and peace…. They did not do anything on the 20th for money. They were totally triggered by years of abuse that came bubbled over by finding out that their dad abused both of them and that their mom knew. I think there are some people who absolutely deserve to be able to have a life where they never have to work, because they'll do something wonderful to help society like becoming a doctor and helping a ton of people or something. Or they'll be a prolific artist or musician. But other people are just a sack of you know what, who need to work at a job to support themselves financially, in order to stay in line and function. No one knows for sure, which type they've given birth to, at least until the person is a teenager. Do any rich people ever realize this and take a wait and see approach, when deciding if their kid will get an inheritance? Do they ever give an inheritance to one kid and not another, for this reason? 2. On the point about how the court only has two options of who to send the kids to - I wish there was some kind of boarding schools for kids in this situation - somewhere that's a neutral environment, where the kid could live there and safely maintain a relationship with both parents because they'd come to visit and the school staff would know the real situation because they see the interactions with both parents. I wish that could somehow be an option for everyone, but it certainly is an option for rich families who can afford it. Is there anything the legal system could do to get a kid placed in a boarding school, instead of with their parents, or into foster care?
