@@joshuabunkers1494 not sure what you mean…. Most of the bottles behind us have more than half full… some of the better ones I keep around for future blinds…. But this display isn’t for show… believe me it gets drank… by the frequency of our re-get or regret episode you should already know..

Have you tried the Middle West Michelins Reserve it’s a four grain that is very unique. It’s a wheater but has pumpernickel rye in the mash bill. They also have a straight pumpernickel rye that is also very unique. Their regular wheated is very good but doesn’t have the unique flavor of the four grain wheater. Just saying!!

HA - you guys have completely fallen into the masterclass of 4 Roses. Total Wine has great picks I've had at least 3 over the past few years and all fantastic. I have a Total Wine OBSV 9 yr 6 mos at 122 proof that is fabulous. Enjoy guys!!!

Here in Easton, Pa I paid $32.00 for my first bottle. Too much burn going down for me almost feels like heartburn. Finish dissappears in like 10 seconds so for me I think this might make a good mixer for my 7 & 7's or something.

I haven't had a bad one these ever. My current favorite is an OESV which is also 111 proof like yours. It's 9 years and 1 month. I bought at the Four Roses gift shop. I'm going through it way too fast

There is a wide range of proof for these four roses store picks. Ranging from barely over a hundred all the way up into the 120s. It's nice how transparent they are with the labeling

just FYI - the higher proof will be associated with the barrels on the 5th and 6th level of the rickhouse - you can find that info on the label - the Barrel No.

@@motohead077 yes I am talking about the 100 proof regular one…. But no it didn’t beat one of the barrel proof one…. It beat another 100 proof one I had…. But it wasn’t far off the flavor of the 110 barrel proof one we had… his bottle was way more viscous and flavorful and made my bottle that I really enjoyed taste water like… then we drank one of the barrel proof ones and it was only slightly better…we were shocked how drastically different the single barrels were
The story of Uncle Nearest is really cool. Kinda breaks the narrative we're fed these days about how people treated each other.

Hit the jackpot when my local grocery store had JD12 @ MSRP. I got 3. Not disappointed. 😊 ER is a buy @ $40. Seems like bourbon prices are (somewhat) coming back to reality. I like most of the BT products I've had, but markups are nuts, e.g. Elmer T Lee just ain't worth $300. Bulleit to me is just okay. TBH, i couldn't tell much difference between the 10 yr and "regular." Have seen their single malt on shelves @ $60; it's on my "maybe" list. The banter between you two is hilarious. 😂

Nice! Tom is right, Overholt is part of Beam's portfolio, which is why he was getting that nut throughout. The most expensive bottle Overholt makes is their 10 Year Cask Strength which I've still yet to try but I believe retailed for around $100. Now that you've finished the last sample, I'll get the next round out to ya!

@@lesscashmoremash No. I remember you saying something about it in earlier video. I’ve only seen the 700 ML bottle at the bases. I picked the one I have up on a cruise ship. A best feature of the base liquor stores is occasionally they get allocated product at a very inexpensive price ( I.e. Eagle Rare for $25).
If I do see that 1 L Jack Daniel’s bottle in bond, I’ll drop you a note.
Just realized this bottle is now in Illinois for $19.99. I didn't have to blink at that purchase.

Some batches of JM are better than others, batch 90 was 120 + proof. They all vary in proof. I don't think any recent ones are worth 1/2 the price you paid. That WR you have is worth it all day to me anyway. Way to much hype lately on the J M 🤔 Good review and enjoy your vacation mike👍🥃

Id say the Saga DO is great bottle at the pricepoint, but perhaps has a bit too much going on, while the Woodford DO is just more refined, cleaner.

Every review I’ve seen they are somewhat disappointed over priced for what it is. Should be a 40 bottle. I understand the attempt but it went sideways at some point. From the reviews I’ve seen the rye seems to be the better choice but still not worth the price. It’s a pass for me. 300 for the set no thanks.

Hey Tom and Mike, Master Blender Nancy Fraley here. Last week I started blending this coming winter's Still Austin Blue Corn BiB, which will now be 5 years old when it comes out. And yes, that blue corn does have a lot of sweetness to it. And actually, it DOES have a lot of rye in the mash bill. In fact, it has 44% rye (the mash bill breakdown is 26% blue corn/25% white corn, 44% rye, and 5% malted barley). The sugary sweetness of the blue corn is so strong that we felt we needed to temper it somewhat with the spiciness of the rye. At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis and review of it, although a B- score is a bit worrisome. Cheers!
@@whiskeyblenderfraley4235 I know you understand that doing these totally blind adds another element of challenge… a true test to me is when we put it in blinds and see how it fares against others.. this isn’t a bottle we have or in fact ever seen here in Massachusetts but I do respect you and everything you have accomplished and mean no disrespect….

I'm seeing the Grain to Glass now for $200 each. I was laughing when they were $150 each. $200 is nuts. The grain to glass as you explained is just the corn. It's not the rest of it. This is a non-age stated market scam. Heaven Hill is scamming their customers with these. I like other Heaven Hill bottle like Elijah Craig, Evan Williams and Larceny. These though really rub me the wrong way.

I've entered a new phase of my bourbon journey. I'm now saving up to purchase allocated bottles I want through an online auction site headquartered near me (Unicorn Auctions). At this point I just can't get excited over another 94 proof gimmick. I'd rather stop buying so many average bottles and instead spend a few hundred bucks and buy something really good and interesting.
Same here, not buying through Unicorn Auctions, but rather being much pickier and putting my money towards fewer & better bottles. That being said, I thought the EC Toasted bourbon was pretty average, so won’t be picking up this toasted rye. And likely not buying anything under 100 proof.
@@geland1 Yea, I can't find the bottles I want anywhere but online and if I do see them in a store (very rare) they frequently cost more than what they are going for in auctions. I am also done with anything under 100 proof.

@@lesscashmoremash it’s alright, but for around the same price I’m buying Rare Breed or a Russell’s SB. I usually use it if my wife wants a manhattan that isn’t too strong.
Mike, I agree with you. A minus is a good score on this one. If C923 is an A plus, B524 is an A minus. Cheers!

@johnshenk-vm2ic Oh, was asking cuz, know how much that ECBP is widely loved, though heard no mention of it in the vid. Saw it beat GTS ('22 or '23?) in a blind. Though have not heard anything that LBP C923 is much above avg compared to other batches. For peoples favorite LBP, it's almost always C922 or B523. Have both of those & A124. For a sweet pour, C922 is great. Then, for or a spice 💣💥, goto A124. What is your favorite or top 2 LBP?
I really like this, unfortunately it didn't stand up in the blind I did. Put it against Weller FP, Holladay SRW RHP, Makers 46 Cask, and Fiddler Toasted.
