🎧nice story, great chops, and presentation. I have a late 90’s Guild Starfire 2 but it’s no ES-175.
@@stevec.1802 thanks for the compliment. Those guilds are also beautiful guitars!
I bought a Gretsch 5420TG on Craigslist. It’s a 2018 made in Korea version with a rosewood fretboard. Black finish with gold hardwear. Electromatic. Bought it in 2022 with a TKL case for $700. I didn’t love the Filtertron pickups. Upgraded to TV Jones Classic. It’s a guitar I’ll keep for life. Sounds and feels fantastic. I love the middle position and playing with the volume balances between the pickups. It’s just great for hard rock, country, blues. Neck pickup with a Tubescreamer pedal has incredible tone. I record with it and it sounds like a $3000 high end Gretsch.
@@Milestone74 wow what a find! Thanks for sharing 🎶🎸😎
Hello, I am looking at a 1981 Ovation 10 yr Anniversary for an amazing deal. Original owner. It has sat for a few years. He says it does not get a signal even with new battery. They dont have a pre amp do they?
@@texastwowheeltrippin7503 the guitars I have here don’t have any pickups. There are lots of external pickup options that sound amazing though. They attach right on the sound hole and are powered with a quarter inch jack you can plug into an amp or PA I’ve used this one before a.co/d/eOLIT3L
Such a great player.
@@Bojanmarsetic thank you for listening 😀🎸🎶
Beautiful guitar, I've had a dream since I was a child, congratulations on the instrument
@@Soundpast thanks for checking it out 🎶🎸
Great chops! What amp are you using? Direct, or mic'd? Do you have any instructional videos? I just bought a 2006 Studio Premium Plus in Amber and I love it!
@@richardbrucemusic thank you very much Richard! I am using a 65 super reverb modeler on AmpliTube with a tube screamer. I don’t have any instructional videos up yet, but I plan to make some soon enjoy that 2006 studio! 🎶🎸
The only reason why I got a studio is because my wife surprised me with it. I won’t lie, I LOVE IT and it got me addicted to Les Pauls and I will ABSOLUTELY be buying a standard too though!! But my studio feels more comfortable and natural than any guitar I’ve owned in the 27 years I’ve been playing!
@@RichLopp very cool rich! Yes, I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting a standard to at some point. Soooooooo good 👍
Nice playing! Perfect tone. In 2002, I bought a one year old L4-CES in wine red. It has the same cutaway as a 175, but ebony fretboard, solid spruce top, and fancy gold everywhere. It felt and plays and sounds like a 175 with flat wound 12s. Love it. But a few weeks ago I saw a 1952 ES-175 with a single P90 pickup and I played it feel in love. It followed me home. Now that guitar doesn’t sound like my L4-CES or your ES-175. It’s a whole different animal. It sends me back to Bluenote and CTI vinyl days. It is also very lively, not like my L4-CES and you can play it with satisfying volume unplugged. They’re great guitars, I totally agree!
@@fredmanteghian5913 thank you for sharing! That wine red L4 sounds amazing. I have been collecting a lot CTI vinyl. Especially the George Benson stuff 🎶🎸👍
@@MichaelGrecoGuitar my favorite CTI is One Way with Bags! Not guitar, but I wore out the grooves listening to it while studying in college.
Cause it’s a very versatile guitar and can handle distortion like a lot of hollow bodies

I’ve always said- if I could only have one guitar… Saw a photo of B B King with a 175 the other day. Add a Bigsby? Rockabilly as well. I agree. The 175 can do just about anything (except julienne fries).
@@lachlanmacleay6407 wow I haven’t find this pic of B.B. with the 175. Bigsby is epic. I have a gretsch that I absolutely love for my rockabilly stuff.

That's why I own two 1960's, and a 1070's L-5 ! The 175 is a great sounding guitar and I play it more often than my L-5 ! Cheers !
@@gilbertomolina2177 very cool! The L5 is next on my radar. Im a huge Wes Montgomery fan
I was a rock and metal guy back in highschool (circa 2005). Then my buddy lent me his Ibanez ES-175 clone and it was I was instantly hooked. It was the bell-like tones, the hum of the body - that PURITY of sound that got me. Since then I snagged a blonde 1956 ES-175 and a Sadowsky Jim Hall Archtop, which is my main fiddle. I too have love for this lineage of instruments. Thanks for sharing with us. Fine playing, by the way! Very fine indeed. It's tasteful with a great sense of direction and purpose.

@@corradomartone26 Yes! I loved the way Steve Howe rocked these guitars 🎸 😃
Could you detail what is modified on your Vintera ? Really nice sound and very nice play !
Thanks you for checking it out. The biggest thing modified on this guitar is the pickups. Instead of the stock pickups it has hot ‘56 pickups which are hotter. I hope this helps 😎🎸
Love the playing!!! Really nice. I'm going to have to try to learn some of those jazzy licks. I've been wanting to buy one of these guitars, but I hadn't seen a review by a really good player. Now I have. Thank you! Btw, there was another reviewer whose neck pickup wasn't working when he got it.
Thanks for checking out the video and the kind words. I hope you e not the axe. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck! 😃🎸
My wife bought me a ‘91 Studio Lite about 12 years ago. I never really “got it” so it rarely got played. Last year I swapped in some Alnico 2 pickups and man, did it really wake up! Put those god awful hot ceramics in a cheap super Strat style and they sound great in it.
Wow that sounds like an awesome combo with those Alnico pickups thanks for sharing 🎸🎶
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you 😀
Thanks Mike, that was beautiful.😉
Thanks, Mike! And happy Father’s Day to you 🎸🎶
nicely played man, congrats
Thanks so much for listening. 😎🎸
I love simplicity. So the Studio was my choice too. Later I went even further and bought Junior.
Yes! Everything you need is right in the studio. Junior is next on my list lol.
I miss my studios for the mid 90’s with the ebony fret boards. They just had a thing. I haven’t played recent studio that feels anything like it. The headstock snapped off one and dropped the other one in the studio and cracked the neck slightly. You cant go wrong with an American Gibson or Fender guitar when it comes to resale. I’m still kicking myself for not buying the smoke house studio with binding at $1,100. Back in 2018.
I saw that smokehouse guitar. Beautiful instrument. Yes these American made Gibson and fenders have that sound. 🎶🎸
Great combo both and so talented. Keep it going
LP Studios are excellent guitars. I had the 2016 Worn Brown w/next binding & Burstbucker Pros. I loved everything about that guitar & shouldn't have sold it but needed the money @ the time. I played it about as much as my Custom Shop R9 but was less worried about accidentally dinging it, lol. I just bought another Studio but in Wine Red Gloss. Waiting for it to arrive... It's like torture.
Thanks so much for checking it out. Enjoy your new axe. Sounds amazing 🎸😎
@@MichaelGrecoGuitar thanks, Michael. Great playing!
That is a great sounding guitar especially for $200. That middle position is almost certainly wired out of phase. I think that’s why you find it spongey. The cool thing is that some early Gibson’s Les Paul’s equipped with p90s were wired this way. Freddie King has a lot of great out of phase sounds on his Hideaway album. Can be a really cool sound in the right context. Maybe not ideal for jazz, though😂
Thanks for the advice man. I’ll check out that Freddie Kind record for sure. He is the man.
Great playing and great tones!
Thanks so much Daniel! Glad you enjoyed it. 😎🎸
Very interesting Mike I think that guitar sounds great! In my humble opinion with regards to most instruments much of what comes out has a lot to do with what the musician brings to it.
Thank so much for checking it out, Mike! Hope you’re having a good week. 🎸😎
I'm thoroughly impressed-great job!
Thanks man!
Aside from the killer, very useful scale for the darker stuff, the grain pattern on your (ES 137?) is one of the coolest patterns I've seen. Right up there with the bird's eye maple and other spalted woods. Cool vid man.
Thanks Tim! This is a Firefly FF338. I got this guitar to play at work when I had some free time. I usually play a Gibson Es-175
Dude, thank you for the reply! I'm always the theory nerd in any band I'm in and you showing lil' potential shredders would make Jason Becker proud. As far as the axe; I JUST started with Koa and a piece os spalted South American Walnut that I am "hopefully" going to make into a set neck. Fingers crossed it's in my kiln now. But yeah, thank you for responding big cat! You made my day!
Spent about 2 hours on this specific lick last night and I still cant get it up to speed. Pat was a monster.
Pat was one of the ultimate masters. His impressions reporting on my all-time favorites. Pat was a hometown hero of mine from South Philly. Awesome I would often see him around and the local barbershop or pizza parlor. He was always kind enough to chat with me really miss that guy.
@@MichaelGrecoGuitar dude thats awesome. Closest ive ever come to him was touring the benedetto guitar factory and playing some of his guitars. They said that when Pat talked to you it was like he was staring directly into your soul.
