Soil Block Making - Making your own mix!
Просмотров 94Год назад
Yes you can make your own soil block making mix - and it's easy. You can make your own soil block and never buy plastic trays again - saving you money and saving the environment from more plastic trash! Plus the benefit is you can make as many or as few as you want to make! Mix 80% screened compost with about 10% Sand and approx 10% Peat moss or similar product. The peat moss isn't necessary so...

Here’s a some stills and video from the day that we castrated our feeder lambs. Super grateful for the help we got with this unfavorable task. It went well we were quick and humane and were graced with pleasant weather and good company. We chose the pinch method using the burdizzo tool because we believe it to be the least invasive and will be the easiest method for healing given the age of the...

How do you get water to them
So do all the birds just take turns laying eggs in those nesting boxes?
Wow!
Very cool! Best of luck to your family in this new chapter.
That’s a LOT of cattle! How are you and Sarah adjusting to the High Plains and new job? Gary
I’m guessing you’re not at 3k hens?
I live in Maine as well, and there are so many spiders around my house
Joel Salatin doesn't like the rollaway nesting boxes.
Great work I’ve watched 2 videos so far and I’m not disappointed you got a new follower from🇲🇦
How many cows per acre?
What attracts the spiders to this? Love the page! Aspiring to do the same down here in the south east here soon.
I raise Katahdin sheep here and band them as well as the cattle. I give them a cdt at the same time. I’ve never been able to garner much of market for lamb or lambs. I had over 20 at one point, but I now keep around 8
Hello from Southern Maine! I’ve tried increasing our flocks several times over the years and the increased cost of producing never catches up with revenue. I’m at $5/dozen now and it’s about even. People will only pay just so much for them. I hope the best for your future.
I love this!
😍 Millie is very cute!
I’ve enjoyed your videos! We are in Canaan Maine, and have 4 cows and 4 pasture pigs, and we are using the same permaculture principles of moving the cows onto new ground daily, and we are going to move the pigs weekly. Definitely glad for the rain, the pasture is getting greener every day. 😁
Awesome. Thanks for commenting! I appreciate hearing from people who are watching and especially folks that are local to us. I have no idea where most people who watch are from. We sometimes have soil health potlucks on the farm. Next time we plan one I will announce it on the channel in case you want to come over!
Nice work Animals happy 😊 Everyone happy 😃
Nice looking animals!
Love what you're doing. Keep it up.
Ahhhh! Spring is in the air! love your Channel/Farm/Family! Great work.
Your putting food scraps in the field, what do you do about rats and raccoons? Also how do you prevent hawks from attacking your chickens?
We do this on a smaller scale and don't have a problem with raccoons. The electric fence keeps them and foxes out as long as you move it often. Same with rats, as long as you disturb the area it seems to throw them off and you don't lose eggs. The chickens will run under the coop to get away from hawks and vultures. Late last fall we lost a bird to a hawk for the first time in 5 years but, for us, I think it's because I had an open day run for them without shelter. I put an a frame of wire fence over their water and a pallet on blocks for them to get under and we haven't lost anymore.
The chickens eat it so fast there’s nothing left before dark
How do you keep predators out of that coop at night?
❤
Incredible! Where in Bangor do you deliver them?
Thanks for your vedio.
Hey, do you cut the wings? How do you keep them from flying over the electrical netting?
wonderful .
Nice project! From Portland Maine
Great job brother enjoy the farm life we love it here miami County Ohio God bless and be safe 🙏👍
Hermoso trabajo
How much it cost to build the coop?
No drama this is my channel. Your living the dream
Great video. Your leading by example.
I agree, to till is to kill, back to Eden principles build soil, nature builds, man destroys, good job going back to basics. Thanks.
Hi, really cool what your doing, I would love to have some chickens also, and love to watch how others are doing it. Thanks.
Thanks for the video:) could you please share a link for your hen boxes?
One more question - what was the total spend for this, $2,500?
He shows at the start where to buy the plans.
I’m trying to figure out egg production for 1,000 hens. If one hen lays 5 eggs per week, that would be .8 eggs a day x 1,000 = 800 eggs per day, or about 66 dozen per day. Does that sound about right, or should I reduce my daily production to 60 dozen to account for small eggs not suitable for sale, for breakage, and some lower production hens? What do you produce per day with how many hens?
You should start small and build your market before getting to 1000 hens. You can't really get a concrete number because it changes from time of year, weather, food, flock mood. It changes all year and year to year. It's better to run out of stock sometimes than have too much waste unless you're doing pigs too.
Nice vid
Thx for video. How’s it going w mobile coo now one year or so later? I’m trying to decide best design for similar goal. But we are in north Texas so very different climate. We’ve had chickens but now restarting and gearing up for bigger endeavor.
Looks good. How’s it going now about two years later with the winter coop?
That drool though!
Beautiful farm !!!
Thank you!!!
Hi Nick!!! 😊
Hey there N.! We miss you! How are you?
@@jacksonregenerationalfarm3742 we’re doing well! I am really starting to feel better slowly learning to walk with my new hip!
It’s almost time to wrap up your bees! Call me if you want me to help!
@@NancyMariposaNeal thanks for reminding us!
Have you figured out your cost per egg? I’m in Louisiana and just getting started with pasture chickens
Hi Eric - it changes as the price of grain changes and the increases in supplies change. It is something to keep and eye on and keep your expenses in mind when you set your prices or need to change them.
Great job. Very important information. Thank you
You are welcome! Thank you!
I love the egg colors! And thank you for checking if they tasted like onion😁 Your cow looks like he is having so much fun😊. You are such a hard worker! Your family is very blessed 😇
Thank you!
I want to see and learn more! Love your channel <3
Awesome! Thank you!
Adorable! Like a minute of zen.
Yes!
Awesome system! Great work! Are the hens safe from predators?
Hi Paula - we haven't noticed many problems with predators!
Looks like he has geese in there with them.
Thanks for the background. I feed my starter about once a week with 1/4 cup of flour and 1/4 cup of warm water. As I keep it in the fridge, I let it warm on the counter before feeding or using it.
Great tip!
