Tips and Tricks for Knitting Stranded Colorwork
Thanks!
This was very helpful... ❤❤
so interesting, thank you
Hi, you never replied to my Ravelry message, so I'm trying again over here. Am I permitted to link your tutorial in a pattern I wrote up?
Yes, I replied the same day - should be in your Rav messages? In any case, I’m happy to have you link to the video. Thank you for checking!
@@kinoknits OMG, shame on me for being so demented! You're so right. I even checked it then. And couldn't find your reply now, so I thought I'd never gotten it. SO SORRY AND THANKS AGAIN. (Looking for a hole in the ground to disappear in ...)
It’s okay! Good luck with the pattern!
Nice video
I would like to see how you use this method if you want to do a picot circular edge for socks or mittens.
Thank you for this tutorial! Helpful, clear and simple. Using this for a bottom up sweater. This technique allows me to knit the sleeves top down. Thanks again!
Hi Kino! Any chance you would be available to take some pictures of your sinker plate? I recently bought one without it and I’m curious if I could 3D print one.
Sure thing! Let me know how best to do this...
Ağırlık tarağının nasıl takıldığını gösterirmisiniz
Can't hear you
Did this for the Wife. TY, you're the best. LOL xD
This is very interesting! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm just finishing your Glorien Worsted Cowl and this is a lovely finishing touch!
So glad you found it helpful!
Thank you!
This is perfect for the half and half wrap by purl so ho
Be careful with the Purl Soho "Notes" for the Wrap and Turn. There is a mistake in the Notes. The sentence "Turn work so wrong side is facing you." is incorrect. When you turn your work after completing the w&t on Row 4, you will then be working on Row 5, which is a right-side row in the pattern. I informed Purl Soho's staff of this error, and they acknowledged it. I believe I submitted this via their Q&A section after the pattern, and I also mentioned it in a phone call with them. Last time I checked the error still remained in the pattern itself.
I hate waste so keep my combing "trash" for stuffing pillows, etc.
My pattern (although garter stitch) tells me to pick up the wraps on a wrong side row. I tried a swatch without resolving them and in the yarn I’m using the stitches were quite lengthened so I need to pick them up as it’s on 260 stitches wrapping each stitch (a triangle shawl). Can you tell me how you’d pick up the wrap please ie in the front or from the back. Many thanks and I loved your clear, concise tuition.
Hi, Alison! I'm not sure if the front or the back of your knitting is the wrong side, but, to pick up wrapped stitches, I usually grab the wrap with my left needle on the front side of my work and put it on the left needle. I then work it together with the next stitch (usually either k2tog or p2tog, depending on what your pattern needs). Hope this helps!
Hello, l follow your podcast on Stitcher ane enjoy your chat. Thank you so much for this great advice as lm going to try colourwork soon for my first time. Kindest regards from N lreland xx
You can do it!!
I couldn’t hear you
Very helpful! I needed this info!
That was very simple! Thank you!
Great demonstration but you’re a low talker, volume is all the way up haha
I don't see a link?
Fixed - thanks!
Do you have a remedy to fix an error--a few rows down?
I LOVE YOUR SAFARI MITTS! absolutely beautiful and unique. Thank you
How do you controll the floats on the bac
There actually aren’t that many floats, because the contrast yarn goes back and forth across the front. Give it a try and see!
Wonderful instructions
Great video. Pattern instructions for a CDDP, which I had not used or seen before. Your detail has me right on track with my project. Thank you.
Mind blowing, Mary! I have just the project that needs this technique..thank you for such a clear tutorial.
Brilliant! Thank you for this!
Lovely video you have nice raised beds! Hope you are having nice harvest!
Great video! Thank you so much! Clearest explanation on the entire internet!
Amazing. Saving this for future reference!
This was the best demonstration I've seen of how to do it. I couldn't follow other demonstrations at all. Thank you! 💖
I can not seem to get mine to the shape it should be as it so puffy. I did block it before I sewed it, but I guess I'll try to block it again. Thank you.
I don’t seam across the bottom of the dumpster. It would not change the look or the function, so it didn’t seem worth it to me!
@@kinoknits I'm just not happy with what I've done with this dumpster, and I think I have knitted everything correctly, but I'm using worsted and I just can't get it to look quite as squared on the side as you, so I've wet it down and blocking it again. I did soak it the first time and laid it out flat and pinned it, but now that I've sewn it together, I'll see if it lays any better now.
I see you’ve already blocked it. Did you use pins to shape it? I would seam it up, then maybe block it again with pins at the corners to force crisper edges. Another option is to just let it go. I’ve seen a few other roundish dumpsters, and I think they look cute. It’s a dumpster, after all... :)
@@kinoknits yes, I did use pins BOTH times. I guess I’ll just accept it the way it is. Thank you so much for your replies. Stay safe.
Thank you so much for this video. I hate sewing anything I've made and have projects sitting in backs waiting for me to do that! I appreciate this clear and complete set of instructions. Thank you again for this attention to detail. (I may possibly sew it together since it's been completed for a couple of weeks now.) :-(
"Just going to nestle it into my dumpster." 😂 This pattern is bringing me joy. 😂
You are amazing!!!
Cool! Thanks for sharing. 💕
Thank you for the video! Looking forward to making a few.
Thank you, this helped me to make a nice coaster 😊
I am doing the papillon wrap and watched many short row warp &turn videos and yours was SO much clearer. Thank you. Is this same or different then German short row? That was what was suggested on papillon FB group.
Hi, Susan! So glad you found it useful. This is different than the German Short Row. I find wrap and turn easier, but that’s a personal preference, and it hides really nicely in garter. German short rows probably hide better in stockinette. Hope this helps!
Thanks Mary for the tour you’ve inspired me to tidy up my area
Thanks for the coupon code! 😀
You’re welcome! Thanks for your purchase!
Thanks for this clear video. I’ve been avoiding projects requiring « provisional cast on » because picking the stitches back up always ended up as a disaster. Your video helped me a lot!!!
I love your tutorial, I am having a bad time with a stranded cowl, it is not stretchy enough, I am making something wrong? I hope you can help
Unfortunately, that's the nature of stranded colorwork. It's not going to stretch as much as standard knitting because those strands pull in. If you're looking for stretchy fabric, you're not going to get it with stranded colorwork. However, if the cowl won't fit over your head... you'll either need more stitches around, or you'll need to use larger needles, or you'll need to really keep those floats loose. Have you tried knitting the cowl inside out?
Great tutorial. Thank you! If you had more videos I would sign up
I suggest you correct the title, this is 4 o'clock inspection, no guard change here.
Thanks for the feedback! Title changed!
Its the last time the horses are on guard, they are replaced by 2 dismounted troopers.
Good teaching.
Thank you so much! The video explained everything I wanted to know.
Alice Nyw - so glad to hear it!!
Thanks! This was very helpful. I just knit my very first color work mitten and it was nice to see that I was doing things right as I figured things out. 😀
Danielle Brown - Excellent! Glad to hear it!
