I work for a commodities trading company based in Singapore dealing with trade finance. I had finished watching this video. But there are still some questions which i need clarifications. Basically the core of this whole platform is cost-saving which come from speed (reduce trade cycle via minimizing paper flow--> bank release LC cash margin back earlier back to us ---> assume we have lot of trade opportunities, we can use the released LC cash margin to post to do more trade hence more profit, sales revenue etc INCREASED WORKING CAPTIAL TURNOVER in short), efficiency (NO MORE LC amendments cost due to straight through electronic presentations to banks; any changes to electronic doc be done at mouse clicks, also lesser email exchanges to achieve trade consensus relative to current badminton style email exchange), shorter LC validity period due to electronic doc (translating into LC issuance cost saving), more transparency to banks (assume banks will 'award' us with lower financing cost due to increased transparency achieved through dltledgers platform), minimize demurrage as electronic doc move faster 24/7, other cost $$ saving such as lower printing paper cost, ink cost, courier cost the likes of DHL courier fees etc, non-monetary cost savings - safer security such as forged documentation (i don't quite agree with this, i think ironically moving to online e-doc expose us to higher degree of fraud "So long it is online, it can be hacked"). How do you get traditional entities like those in Indonesia to start to adapt your system as your system can only work if parties in the whole supply chain participate in it? Any strategy? Also, how receptive are the banks? I am asking this question as too often the bank themselves is a huge company with many RM group and operation group. Not all the RM groups will be open to changes (if its not broken, why fix it mentality). In other words, how is the penetration rates for Singapore banks so far? Thanks.
