Kanon Catchings was a donkey for leaving
Coach Painter is an excellent coach of basketball and young men. He will continue make us proud that Purdue has secured such a talent. Class of 75

Yeah I don’t see Purdue falling much. This years team will be quicker and even more athletic.
Didn't even flinch when I heard Catchings was out - he was an unproven commodity and if he had doubts about wanting to be in WL, we don't want him. We want guys in the trenches who are dialed in to the system and who are part of the family.
i predict we see a bigger, stronger Fletch throw one down. :)
hard to disagree with this analysis ... team should win 25-30 games -- be a top 2-4 seed in the tourney... fellas... please stay healthy
Addition through subtraction. He was going to be a one and done anyway and sounded like he would be difficult to deal with. We'll be fine.
KC skinnier that Fletch was a frosh. And plays up front... He was NOT going to start THIS year. Heide and/or Colvin will be better than KC THIS year, maybe both. ;)
With you on that one. People have been dreaming of that first lineup though with him... But they will be just as if not stronger as Colvin and Heide flourish

Jacobson is going to play a lot, this year
Jacobsen recently got bumped up to 4 stars. He was listed at 3 stars here. He's tearing it up for Team USA currently.
I did the video pre USA basketball. My outlook on him seems to becoming true

Yes he will be near impossible to replace. Plenty of people forget he was able in practice and to learn against Trevion. Don’t sleep on Berg who learned and had to battle Zach in practice. Plus he brings the 3 point shot many think all centers should now shoot. TKR will with Smitty be the heart of this team. Early on they will be finding themselves, but by Bigten play we will know what they really are…
Get ready to find your next Purdue player to hate on, because they're just getting deeper. There for sure will be some growing pains in the non conference, but ignoring them come conference play would be foolish.
Edey will be missed but Purdue will still be top 10 this year and will win it all in 2026

Kanon seems like he could be a star. Jacobsen seems like a little bit of a project but hey so was edey. My thoughts are that if they keep everyone going into the 2025-2026 season, Purdue should be a favorite to win it all.
Definitely lots of potential, and Jacobsen is already been re-classified as a top 100 prospect after making the Team USA 18U team. Definitely excited about some of these potential high impact guys. Not a big fan of being over-committed with scholarships and I would have loved to see if we could get Gillis back for his Covid year, but I'm guessing Paint will figure it out.

This was a pretty fair assessment on how this team will most likely progress this season. My main concern is tkr at this point. I know its early, but we keep hearing how he will be the breakout player on this team, and early on I'm not seeing that. This whole team will go as their 3 point shooting goes. If they can average around 35% three point shooting as a team, I think they will do extremely well. I'm still a beleiver that the shooting will click at some point this season. We do have capable shooters on the team, they just haven't been consistent yet. They have also gotten good looks dating back to last season. Something has to give with all the good looks they get. I'm still optimistic because this team does give effort and plays hard every game. Their rebounding will give them a chance every game, and also the amount of free throws they normally attempt as well. Also, I don't know why some people are giving Lance Jones a hard time. He was great in their exhibition against Grace college, and there were some positives in the Arkansas game too. He is new to our system, and I think he has the potential to be a big asset on this years team. We just need to give him a chance. We haven't even gotten to the regular season yet.

@@Matt-fb5xe I grew up being a Purdue fan. Then I went to college… not Purdue. I then realized Purdue basketball is like an urban cowboy….big hat, no cattle. I don’t think they have any national championship banners hanging from Mackey Arena.

Two #1 seeds already out - parity rules this year in cbb. Good year for Purdue, but they made history in the wrong way.
you’re entertaining. however your bias is showing a lot. there’s no way you can actually complain about the refs! “morton pokes it away” he smacked shannon’s hand knocking the ball loose. mayer gets edey in the air and edey pushes him to the ground. should of been a flagrant. big ten refs are bad every game. but purdue and edey especially gets babied by the refs. purdue shoots the most fts while somehow committing the least amount of fouls. cmon man

You get a mountain in the air...then initiate contact into said mountain by undercutting the mountain... but complain the mountain did something wrong other than not fully land on you..... no doubt in my mind.... refs everyone complains about them ... I do see it both ways but I am also a Purdue fan so my lean as you would expect is that direction.....

@@hosehead3179 i don’t. my buddy is an illinois fan. i watched the game and thought the refs were pretty bad all game and were in favor of purdue late. just my non biased opinion. i’m a texas fan who doesn’t watch a lot of big ten basketball.

Might be the problem. The guards now are great but susceptible to physicallity. Muscle in the off season

That was a tough game... and a good one for Purdue to help season them for rigorous play. All great experience. That was a mugfest.
Constant fouling is allowed in the Big Ten for some reason. However, whistles will blow in the NCAA's though.
Man there were so many egregious fouls I could have put in the video, but turnovers did them in..... Hopefully the brutal play will be stopped. All of us are ok with tough play, but not what happened Sunday.... Great comment
NU played great. Hats off. If that style of play was being allowed, why shouldn't they take advantage? Purdue guards were badly beaten. 2 made field goals on 19 shots combined for Smith, Loyer, Newman, Jenkins. That won't get it done. Man do I hope they rematch in the Big 10 tourney.

you forgot to mention that the refs called a ton of fouls on rutgers that they refused to call on the other side of the ball. Seems like you're blaming the refs.
You are correct. I do lean towards Purdue… I did generally say, I think it was in the next podcast that I did yesterday that the refs were not a problem in the game because we all generally thought they didn’t create problems.. I do believe that they called a good game. I also I think noted that this was what they would see all season so they need to adjust. Rutgers played great… I did say that didn’t I?
Calen it was a great game and great win for Rutgers. They are a good team and I believe they will move into the top 25 and stay there the rest of the season. Probably in the race for top dog in the Big Ten also.... Refs miss calls both ways. I think they called a good game.....
