Hymns and Spiritual Songs for the Little Flock 1962 Revision Hymn 86 Mary Bowly Peters (1813-1856) Steadfast (A. J. Laurie)
The tune 'Trimley' is actually 'Penitenta' composed by Edward Dearle (1806-91)
Both references seem to be correct.
Lovely! It's been a long time since we sang that tune but it suits the hymn perfectly. Thank you Drew.
I never heard this one before, but I've heard the Melody. That's great that you're praising God.
Fantastic
What an amazing hymn. So gentle yet strong
Ruby and I listening in our wee wooden house on South Uist as the wind batters from all sides… chust sublime!
"Precious Memories" is one of my favourite tunes! Thank you.👍
❤
That’s a good one!
Thanks! A lot of memories on this one...
I am fixing to have some fun with my church choir that I sing in. I have to let the choir leader know first so she is in it with me. Words that they have not heard.
Great words
Also " My Jesus, I Love Thee.
Thank you Drew!
It's a lovely hymn, and I appreciate how well you have sung the tune!
You're welcome Rob, the pleasure is ours....
Thanks, Drew. Just over an hour ago sang this hymn with your sister on the piano!
Excellent!
Jings Drew, you're brave tackling that one with its minor chords! Nicely sung, though. Well done!
Thanks Ernie.
Lovely rendition, thanks. "Crimond" was always one of my Mum's (as well as the late Queen's) favourites. I once earned half-a-crown (2/6, 2 and 6, 2 shillings and 6 pence, == 12.5p) in Secondary School naming that tune!. A visiting Violin teacher played it and offered the money (in what he probably thought was a safe bet) to anyone who could name it! I had to go up on stage and tell him how I knew! 😊😂💰
Great!
Well done, Drew; lovely harmony and part singing!
Thanks Ernie
It's great to hear that hymn sung at the correct timing! The 'alternative' timing most of us use turns a wonderful hymn into a dirge. Well done Drew!
Thanks Ernie
Can I get the music sheet for this?
See notes. Should be available from there. If not, shout.
Great choice of tune!
Stuart Brodie's choices for the next while.....
Love it! Thanks!
In worship here in Brazil, thank you all
Another fine tune from Welsh Hymnody sung nicely to a suitable hymn. Thankyou, Drew!
Very nicely done, Thank you! 👍
Very welcome! Keep them coming!
That's one I wasn't expecting, but is a fine combination of tune and hymn, nicely sung as usual
There are a few good ones on those cassettes.... More to follow Lord willing.
Nicely sung - JND's hymns stand out in their depth and intimacy with Christ. I rejoice anytime I see them appreciated and shared. Thank you!
hymn 417. i am viewer 714
I love this tune
Name of this song please ?😍
It's on the video clip at the beginning and in the information at the bottom. St Agnes (Hoyland)
Love these hymns but don’t like the tunes they sing, sound so morbid
That's frankly more than a little discouraging..... Can't please all of the people all of the time. I guess at some point, some people may like some of them.
Lovely tune, nicely sung, Drew
Thanks Ernie.
You know a tune works when you find yourself singing it whilst you work! 👍
is this melody "let the lower lights be burning"?
No, it's a different tune, but with the same meter and with an additional chorus.
Life is Like a Mountain Railroad extra versus.
who recorded this? was this in assembly?
Just myself in my house.
@@hidwithhymn ok nice. do you also have the hymn "through weakness and trial with God we may plead"? it think Mrs bevier wrote it, she wrote some hymns.
Doesn't ring a bell....
@@User-12365 There is a version by the Whitaker Family: ruclips.net/video/VQhQl0YpFzk/видео.html. Not all the parts are present, however. Still quite nice.
Thanks Drew!
No problem! Keep them coming!
Lovely tune, but in Scotland we don't do 'minor' well! That shouldn't stop us though.
Some tunes just naturally suit themselves to a particular hymn and I always find myself coming back to this one.
Needs more voices to sing the air!
Sorry... Only got one voice and 6 tracks. Tune is usually allocated to two tracks as is.....
@@hidwithhymn ( I like your pun on that Colossian verse!)Sorry, I did not realise it was only one person singing!! Have you tried combining tracks , so you can include more of the tune ie. record what you have already done onto a single track and then record more tracks? Your voice is great and you are singing some of the greatest Hymns ever written (esp. J.N.D. Hymns...his knowledge of divine subjects second only to Paul! ...did you ever read his poem "Man of Sorrows"?) but the tune is often lost in the harmony in a lot of the hymns you sing! ...Suggestion get your wife to sing with you!!
Wasn't intending a pun but if it works, great! Just wary of ending up with all tune and no harmony. The intent was to enable singing along so if the singer sings the tune, the harmony should be there from the recording. It's just a free phone app so doesn't give much scope for variation....
1 Softly now the light of day Fades upon out sight away: Free from care, from labor free, Lord, we would commune with Thee. 2 Thou, whose allpervading eye Nought escapes, without, within, Pardon each infirmity, Open fault, and secret sin. 3 Soon from us the light of day Shall forever pass away; Then, from sin and sorrow free, Take us, Lord, to dwell with Thee.
Praise God. Our God in Christ is a living God. Thank you for sharing this song, dear Friend. Warm regards, Wiseman - Jakarta.
Superb! - wonderful hymn, wonderful tune, wonderful rendition. Draws me to worship and adore. Thank you!
New tune for me!
Absolutely Heavenly! Thank you!
Proverbs 27:14 "He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.”
Your clenched-jaws style is growing on me.
Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
A grand anthem for a combat veteran of any war, but in particular the war in Galatians.
Hymnody. Him nodding out. Which ain't a bad way to fall asleep. Asleep in Jesus ...
Love it!
Thanks for this great song. Praise God.
Praise God, a great song.
Hi Drew & John, thank you for recording these hymns. They are a real blessing. I like this one of my grandfather's hymn. I do hope you keep them coming. Greetings in the Lord!
You're welcome! Glad you're enjoying them.
