      This specific lock can't be added to home assistant just yet. I'm not sure if they plan on it in the future. However, in the U home app you do get a log that shows which code was used to unlock the door and at what time. So, not the exact functionality you are asking, but it does exist in some form

    I have a mesh network using 3 router form the brand "Tenda" in their app they have an option called "Smart assistant" that when enabled the phone changes to 2.4GHz for 30 minutes to help you to setup any device that supports only 2.4GHz. I did this and I was not able to pair the sensor, also tried soo many times, seems it's a known issue from comments I saw onAamazon. BUT, I tried again by turning ON airplane mode on my phone with Wi-Fi and BT turned ON only, andthe pairing went flawlessly. I ended up buying a second sensor and did the same, airplane mode worked again. I'm not sure exactly what it is but I've seen this behavior before on other smart devices I had and turning ON airplane mode always works. Thanks for sharing the process, I just paired my Aqara hub following your video, I had no idea about using matter to make it work. I'm super new to Home asssitant.

    Hey Sam, you can combine the on/off automation into one automation by using trigger IDs. This reduces your number of automations and brings everything pertaining to a single bulb into one automation.

    Yale Assure 2 locks. They support HomeKit and they also integrate into home assistant with the Yale home or August integration. HomeKit for local control, Yale home or august is a cloud grade integration, but exposes a lot more data for automations.

    I love this. I gave up on Resolutions about 10 years ago. My wife came up with a similar notion to your idea of a theme. Good luck with your focus this year!

  • @DeliberateGeek

    Hey Sam. I love this little starter automation. Like you, I'm relatively new to Home Assistant and Home Automation in general. Also, like you, I code. I have a small suggestion to set you up for future success. It's something I came across based on watching other channels. I started to notice that there are often several ways to trigger an automation based on the same event. So, for example, with the Aqara contact sensor...One way is to do exactly what you did, trigger it based on a device trigger. Another way to trigger your automation on the same event is to trigger on an entity state change. In that same sensor device, there is a binary sensor entity that ends in {_opening}, so it would be something like {binary_sensor.your_device_name_opening}, which would be set to "on" when the contact sensor is open. So, you could trigger your automation on that entity state changing to "on". OK, so why would you choose to do that rather than choosing the device? Well, the device has a unique ID assigned to it when it gets added. Just view that automation in the YAML editor and you're see that it's a standard UUID. If you need to change that contact sensor for any reason, you'll have to modify all the corresponding automations to trigger off the new device ID. If you trigger off the state change and need to change the device later, you can change the new device name to match the old one (after removing the old one) and HA will rename the corresponding entities to match. Once you do that and verify the entity name matches, all your automations associated with that device will now just work without having to edit them. The same applies to your lights. When you setup the turn light on action, if you choose the entities associated with your lights instead of the device, when your bulb dies, and you have to replace it, the same principle applies. After having seen different channels use entities instead of devices without much explanation about why, I did a bit of Google searching and found a few recommendations like this and it became clear WHY. So, as a rule, if at all possible (and it sometimes isn't), I use strictly entities to refer to anything in an automation, script, etc. This sets me up to make the eventual need to change things out far less painful, especially when you have several automations associated with one or more devices. I hope this makes sense and helps you or one of the other folks watching your channel. Cheers, STeve

  • @gjheydon
    @gjheydon 5 месяцев назад

    This is a fun automation. My first one like this was to turn off the air conditioner when my dog opened the door. What you should take a look at is trigger ids so you can organise your a automations in a single script instead of one to turn it off and another to turn it on. Also expanding in this you could use trigger ids to show both indicators on a single light. You would only need to set 3 colours.

    I bought a home assistant green about a month or two ago trying to switch from Google home. Which I unfortunately invested way too much money in. I played with it for like a day and then gave up because it was too technically complicated for me. But it looks like I'll have to switch to zigbee items cuz it looked pretty easy to set up as opposed to having to mess with yaml code and finding the right integrations for different Google, Alexa, and other third party devices

    It’s a presence sensor very different than a pir sensor presence sensors detect you no matter what even down to you breathing pir sensor detect bigger movements so if you sit still it will clear and not detect until you move again presence sensors are better if you ask, me set up a automation to turn on lights when your in the room and turn off the lights when you leave the room or a specific amount of time after you leave a room if you switch to a pir aka motion Detecton sensor it will turn on lights when motion is detected but you will have to figure out how to get 3hr lights to turn off when you leave the room unless you don't mind turning off lights manually when you move, because if you have it set to turn off when no movement is detected then if your not making big enough movements the lights will turn off for a example you sitting there watching a video with minimal movement presence sensors are the way to go

I’m simultaneously testing Homey Pro and have Hubitat to test out as well. I was surprised to find out how much more HA does in the setup for the user than the $400 Homey Pro. I don’t think there’s a really easy all in one option available yet.
