I owned and maintained and autocrossed a 2000 back in 1971. Not sure I would call ur video a test drive ,but more beer run. 2nd gear shift point was when the cash sou dead like was about to jump I to your lap. Third gear was good for a 100.ph plus. Back I the day tires could make or break you. No internet to research. I could never mat h a lotus elan with blue streak tires. I ran German steel belted metzlers that weighed a ton each. 2000s overhead chain drive system was poor. Alpha Romeo design ed tensioners could have been a great # supplemental type certificate, oh, I mean modification. Cast iron block with aluminum head was also lacking, due to premodwrn means & methods. I have both loved and cursed it.

My very 1st car was a Dolly 1850. Then 2 Sprints , TR6 then a STAG which I had for 15 years. The prices of them now are amazing 😊

From the advice I received start with checking the timing as improper timing can cause issues as well as excess heat. Was there the proper heat shield installed? I suffered the same issue where the car ran fine until you came to a stop and it idled for a bit ... the heat from the headers will literally start to boil the fuel. I installed the heat shield and some additional shielding for the header pipes and it helped significantly. Might also check your float levels and fuel pressure.

Time for new struts

I must say awesome, these old girls are much slower in traffic than modern cars. My 88 does the same 113k.

My dad owned one of these back in the day. A little before my time but everyone always remembers the light blue Thunderbird with a white top, white interior and the swing away steering wheel!

Put the gear selector in the green dot and you will actually start out in low instead of 2nd. It adds a lot more pep.

I’m looking at getting one of these cars in the next couple of weeks the thing that sold me was the seatbelt design it’s one of those cool features that makes the car unique I honestly can’t wait to get it
