Increased Shield power, AP boosts dmg/shielding, free attack speed and on hit damage when you press W (unless they remove that bug in the future), Move speed, cdr, whats not to love? Def not core, but its something I like running when Im ahead. Oh and I almost forgot mana regen. All VERY good stats for Skarner, and for 2300g.

I think if you have to go full tank, Iceborn Gauntlet becomes core. Sheen is just too good for Skarner to pass up. I haven't really tried to do too much with full tank Skarner, simply because in my games I feel like if Im not killing people my team just wont win. This all changes, of course, if I am duo with a jungler who knows how ez it is to gank Skarner in top lane XD. As far as Aery in this matchup, it adds extra damage and Skarner needs it early. Of course, this was back in February, and I have been experimenting with a LOT of different runes to see what feels good and what performs well. Grasp has never felt good to me on Skarner. Or most any other champion really. I feel like it just doesn't do as much as others. I like aftershock ESPECIALLY if I plan on going tank, or if Im against really aggressive lane bullies and I want to play safe. Conqueror got nerfed, but I have been going Lethal Tempo a ton lately because Skarner's only good stat is his base AD. He scales really well with attack speed (Q spams, although trash levels of bad, are still decent over a LONG fight... which most of his are... ). Love the questions and conversation, Im still learning myself, and if you want to share what you have been learning about him, or want me to try something out and give feedback on it, let me know! :)

Also, almost ready to start streaming and gameplays with commentary are just around the corner :)

@@shahamut5009 i'd be so excited to watch you stream. i was plat 2 promos with skarner top. but demoted to plat 3 D: i too also stream skarner top time from time. i have been toying around with letho. but i think im in love with phase rush.

@@shahamut5009 i also feel like skarner's early game is awful until you get sheen and are 6. i have tried to dabble with full tank builds where it really works but when mid game comes im like "man i wish i had a sheen" a good example would come to mind would be the vayne/teemo/ryze/quinn/jayce/ken/ and vlad top, these match ups is where i go aftershock, second wind, go attack speed rune with armor/hp and have tenacity and presence of mind, while starting doran shield. this is also the only time i get tp, i used to use tp but its not my strength. i make alot of very questionable tp's so, i take ghost/flash. combo'd with phase rush and nimbus cloak, its pretty funny how fast u go

but with that rune set-up i usually have enough sustain to endure the poke they do, and if it gets out of hand i just get corrupting(tho by this time i should be going for tri force, or (tabi bramble,cowl,mercs) etc its also funny when i do get a sheen after playing so safe. because they would poke and poke. and even w/o my turret, if they got too close i would E auto and stick on them, 9 times out of 10 i win those fights

updated the description to show my runes. Now, as to the reasons, that part is still in experimentation. But there is one thing I can say with certainty: You need to have Transcendence, and you need to take the cdr per level rune. Skarner scales super well with cdr, and the cdr per level rune, combined with transcendence, will still get you some AD if you go over cap. What runes are ideal for what situations is still a work in progress, but as long as you have Transcendence, you should be ok. I personally take Gathering Storm to go with it, because Skarner needs all the AD he can get late game and your builds wont always allow for too much of it.

looks good! I have thought about trying Hail of Blades, but I feel like his attack pattern takes so long to kill someone that Lethal Tempo is actually better. I may have to just give it a whirl though.

I do. Still working on trying out new builds and things on Skarner in norms. More ranked gameplay to come in the near future :)

Also, once I get my tax returns this year, I plan to actually have a decent set up (new pc, mic, etc) so that I can stream and actually do commentary. Then my channel can have more than just full gameplay videos. XD

On a side note: AP Skarner is difficult because there are a TON of AP items that can potentially be VERY good on him. Far more than 6 anyway lol

interesting. What runes do you usually run in lane? and during what time did you do this with Skarner top?

S6 i had master tier in the jungle EUNE, s7 d2 EUW toplane, s8 D3 EUNE toplane ( i wasnt playing much + i think the new runes are worse ) I usually play 2 diff builds -1. AD skarner ( trinity, SS reaver or death dance, USUALLY SS reaver to 45% cdr and great passive, 3 sterak...) 2. Utility skarner ( 1. Shurelia, 2 Righetous glory 3. item to supp ur team with 10% cdr i recommend knights vow or mask ) AD skarner is very good against jax, irelia, yasuo, trynda, camile basically againdt squishy champs and duelist but weak against teemo, yorick, nasus, and some other so when i cant beat enemy toplaner 1v1 during MIDGAME/LATE i usually go utility skarner. Runes for AD: Conqueror, the second page i recommend 5% cdr and free boots. Runes for utility- speelbook. Take 5% cdr, boots, biscuits, and in the second page take nimbus cloak and 1.5% movement speed. AD spells- Flash+exhaust or against some matchups ghost Utility- Flash + ghost. Skill order: AD SKARNER- E,Q,W Utility skarner- E,W,Q

Kebab Power For sure, AD is better, mid game I didn't really feel much difference, but early game was terrible :-P was fun to do though :-)

yeah the main goal is to survive that early game thats the key to not get stomped so hard

I don't think its as good right now. But if you were going to do it, I would probably do something like: AP Quints, AS reds, Armor Yellows, MR blues Rush Sheen + Defensive boots, Nashor's, Gunblade, (finish lichbane), Then Either Banshee's or Zhonya's and finish with either a Rageblade or a Rylias. I'd probably run 0/18/12 making sure to have runic armor and the extra cooldown reduction. You will need the Shield up as often as possible to not die instantly. I may try it in normals sometime, if I can get a decent play of it, Ill post it up here :)

Its a pain, but meh... Doesn't matter after a while. Early game is rough though... ok not rough, it just plain sucks. :P especially since Lee came top a bunch. I just wanted to farm :P

Daniel Simmonds I'm not sure what your comment is meant to convey, but it reads like sarcasm. I showed you what you wanted to see, the 1v1and carry potential of Skarner. This, along with his ability to out duel several other hard to 1v1 champs. In normals, I am pretty regularly matched up against plat and diamond players. My ELO and your elo have nothing to do with recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of a champions kit.

Target Camera should be on, unless Im gray screened. Using the recordings from the client replay system. Still trying to figure out how to keep it locked on and recording after taking away the time display. :/ Pretty new to all this if it isnt painfully obvious :P Between work and 4 kids I havent had much time to invest in this yet, so this is my start :) I will try again with my next upload to get rid of the time display :)
