Daemon X Machina got bad rep because it was being compared with Armored Core 6. I admit that AC6 has smoother control, but DxM has easier game difficulty and has more freedom in mecha customization.

The opening cutscene when he cuts the guy and the door is a reference to the movie lone wolf and cub sword of reference. It’s the exact scene with the main character cutting through a scared enemy and cutting the door open

DXM is what pushed me to get a Switch, and i loved the melee combat as soon as i got my hands on it, demo or not.

I wanted to like the game, the idea of going around with a mech seemed fun! I like the art style and in general play its cool. but its a over complicated. Half the stats do nothing to improve the gameplay or mech. The in game factory and shop is pointless and unintuitive. Its like the saying less is more

I just hope we get a Nintendo Direct for first party titles soon, I also hope we either get a Release and new trailer for Metroid Prime 4 or a HD Remaster of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, since I doubt will be seeing another new 2D Metroid game anytime soon. Prime has been redevelopment for a long time now.

I also went down the same (long poorly documented) road of playing the GameCube version on a modded Wii U. To anyone else who does this I would highly recommend patching your iso with a bunch of the QoL improvements available like USB keyboard support😬, additional pallets, bug fixes, widescreen support, etc… You can also inject the game into a VC title on the Wii U menu to play it and control it on the GamePad and not have to boot into vWii every time. But you would lose the ability to easily go back & forth from Wii to Wii U since the save file would be saved on the Wii U instead of the SD card. For the network issues the best options for me was a cheap Wii/Wii U compatible USB Ethernet adapter or to tether to a phone setup with no security and 2.4ghz so I don't have to mess with my main router settings to play.

Thanks so much for making this documentary. For a long time I figured I might have to make something similar, but you saved me the work! :P Treasure is my favorite console game developer of all time. They really deserve 6 hr docu-series haha but this is great for now :)

Damn.. you couldn’t sound more dull or uninterested talking about the MD versions of games. Everything seem to be “Gimmicky” for you when in fact they are basic gameplay features. In defense of Silhouette Mirage. It was the PlayStation version that slammed for being far inferior to the Saturn version on metacritic. Saturn version was never reviewed. The Saturn version was met with positive reviews and a import must-have during its time. Otherwise.. cool review and glad you shedded some light on a great game developer that deserves the attention.

The price of the game has me really confused. I'm seeing copies for $40-50 which is at least a bit more reasonable.

Still remember the era when this game was usually $15 cause not a lot of people knew about this hidden gem within a franchise that in itself was a hidden gem or when other Xenoblade fans shunned this game for being nothing like XC1 X will always be my favorite game in the series, even if it isn't part of the main series

You left out Gradius V and this one obscure but amazing looking game they released on Sega Saturn it was a hack and slash platformer

I like more but i think the real problem is that the first two Shmeus games where seen as groundbreaking while the third quite similar better in some ways and worse in others and maybe some bad habits from the first two i wish the left out. And not matter what the third one can't live to that hype.

This game is fantastic played it on steam loved every second of it a downright joy to play and more people should play it

DxM and AC are like one of the best games I ever played. Been playing AC since PS1, maybe the reviewers with those publicists have bad eyes and reflexes for AC and DxM. Basically get good or play casual and enjoy some very fun games once you get the hang of dodging bullets.

Admittedly when it was released, just as you stated, this one got put into the back burner. I almost completely forgot about it. The recent release of AC6 made me remember DxM. Right now I am really enjoying it. Love the anime-aesthetics. It feels more like Zone of Enders sprinkler with the AC elements. A shame it was slammed during its release, but it looks like it has gained a small cult following. I hope they continue with the franchise.
