Yasser Seirawan Tells Crazy Bobby Fischer Stories
Просмотров 178 тыс.5 лет назад
I always wanted a collection of Yasser Seirawan's best of Bobby Fischer stories. So I made one. Correction: The picture at 0:10 is not Miguel Quinteros but Canadian GM Peter Biyiasas. I was researching Fischer who stayed with Biyiasas in the early 80s and I accidentally mixed up the pictures. Sorry.

Someone be a legend and compile every single story Yasser has ever said into a 10 hour clip.
Behind the Bastards did a great two parter on Bobby, it's here on RUclips. The guy was a straight up Nazi, and was for most of his life, but was good at chess, so I guess.... Yay, fond memories?
6:35 doesnt white still have the advantage here?
I dont think so Qxe1 gets mated on g2 So Rxe1 is forced, then Bxd4!! deflecting/pinning the white queen If Qxd4 then again mate on g2 and if you dont take the bishop you have to defend the mate on g2 since the pinned queen doesnt defend that square So lets say you interpose the diagonal with Ne4/Re4 Than black csn just cash in and will have at least queen for rook and the white king is still in grave danger (Rxe1 Bxd4 Ne4 Bxf2+ Kxf2 Qxh2+ as a sample line) Black has the material and the compensation
While Fischer owed us nothing, I do feel he let us down. I realize the reasons were probably diagnosable, so it's hard to blame him. Yet it was such a shame he wasn't sociable and reasonable, because the "Fischer boom" would have been so much larger and longer-lasting if he had remained engaged with at least the chess community if not the world. I'm 3 years older than Yasser, and part of the boom, though I never became a seriously strong player. Just the best player on my high school team, and regained that strength plus a bit more when taking up recreational play again after retirement.
"bobby fischer vs. a mongolian"🤣 (apparently it was Lhamsuren Myagmarsuren)
What a wonderful story teller this man is. The stories themselves are intriguing but the WAY he tells them makes them all the more riveting. He is a master raconteur, as masterful at telling Bobby Fischer anecdotes as Bobby was at playing chess.
How boring
A lot of people blame Fischer for forfeiting the 1975 Championship against Karpov, and to some extent it is deserved. However people tend to forget that in the very next World Championship match (Karpov-Korchnoi 1978) and beyond, FIDE adopted the "first to win n games" rule that Fischer had suggested. Even in 1975 there was a significant percentage of masters who agreed with Fischer, and I personally believe that Karpov would have accepted Fischer's terms without question if given the choice.
Good stories but I can only handle so much of the barely conscience voice. Sounds like too many opioids. lol
thank u for compiling these videos
Any Yasser stories out there?
sorry i don't like how this video was put together. i got close to the end but i had to stop as i just couldn't take it anymore. yasser's great but this video sucks
9:30 But what game was that and which move? Can't find a game in 1966 Olympiad against ' A Mongolian' .
I think it was Lhamsuren Myagmarsuren in a tournament game in 1967 at the Sousse Interzonal?
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
Has Yasser ever met Bobby?
I find this guy painful to listen to. He drags out stories faaaaaar toooooooo loooooooong.
I am not sure if I should play this game or wait for a remake (if they ever make one)
The sound and music and engine for sound effects in this game that is unreachable for other games until now. SS2 rules.
We are pleased to see that you are improving. Keep it up because mine and my partners' bucks are still on the gaming table. You played very well but Fabiano was far below his level. Good tactical finish. Your survival expectations (in the tournament and in life) have increased significantly.
Yasser Seirawan the only guy to talk with kindness about the great late MR FISCHER
Yasser is the reason why my Fischer number is 4! 😅 I at one point beat a local FM who beat an IM, who in turn defeated GM Yasser Seriwan, who at one point, beat the most dominant player in chess history!
The current buzz is about the remake of SS1. It's good, but the stark interiors and cloying isolation of SS2 has never been matched.
Greatest chess player in history of mankind.
I'll always enjoy the way Fischer played chess. He deserves to be a legend. I just wish his mental illness didn't get the better of him.
34:13 - who was that ONE vote? What was his name?
33:35 ---- awww, so the soviets blocked that match, despite Karpov wanting to play, and Bobby's demands being reasonable.
23:58 - lol
Aman laughing at 22:45 is killing me lmao
The Mongolian story (8:56 -- excellently told by Seirawan) had me shaking with laughter right along with them. Great punchline too.
4:45 -- Nice haircut. Sharp look.
No player alive could win the US championships 11-0.
Damn, i love these masterpiece, best sci-fi-horror game ever 🥰
i met mr seirawan at a big tournament in nyc 1979 i think it was...the first Heraldica tournament if anyone remembers...well, i am a complete nobody in chess, and i went up to him and ask for a handshake, and he was the nicest gentleman...he chatted with me for a few minutes and made me feel like was a real chess player...just a great experience meeting with him-- i have a bobby fischer story that no one else knows about, nothing earth-shattering but kind of cute just the same...i was good friends with mr. carmine nigro, bobby's first chess teacher in brooklyn in the very early 50s...i met carmine in florida, and he used to play at our local club in west palm beach...we were neighbors at one point and he worked with my boy at chess for a while...carmine was a nice man and multi-talented...well, carmine had just returned from a tournament in california in which he played in the seniors section...he had his own little hotel room there and one night he was awakened by a loud knock on the door at around 2 am...he opened the door, and it was bobby grinning widely and holding a transistor radio which was blaring carmine said (this was during the time of bobby's seclusion for that 20 year period in pasadena)... anyway, bobby said he wanted to stay for a while and spend a couple of nights with carmine, his old friend and teacher...carmine told him that he had a game the next day and needed to sleep...bobby told him "it's ok, i'll be quiet"...carmine said bobby kept him awake the rest of the night with the radio playing and trying to make conversation...he stayed for 2 nights with carmine and carmine lost his next 2 rounds and said he had to kick bobby out of his room-- as i said, not a blockbuster story, but it was at the time when no one could find bobby for all those years and here he just pops up at carmine's hotel room during his tournament...bobby was known to frequent some tournaments in disguise during his seclusion years, and he must've spotted carmine or saw his name on the pairings board. this meeting with carmine nigro is contrary to (think biographer frank brady's second book about bobby, forgot the title, where brady makes a reference to "bobby never seeing carmine nigro again" in a passage in the book)" so, this meeting at the hotel happened long before the book was written, but brady had no way of knowing about this i guess--
damn bro if thats true thats kinda crazy
@@pivotmaster9556 it's true, mr nigro would not have made that up, he was a straight-forward decent man :D
first to ten wins seems extremely goood rules
What would have made this game better would have been the option to stick with the UNATCO story line and go take out Tracer Tong instead of saving paul, would have made a great duel story line.
Wessel who??😂😂😂
no disrespect, is yassir gay?
No, he's married to a woman
I love the stories and the effort that was put in making this. But, cutting up the pieces of stories and interjecting them with each other is seriously obnoxious.
The best part was definately 8:56.
Didn’t Revision change the maps? They look the same
the editing in this vid is rly weird and bad
Wonderful!
The scoresheet of the mongolian: White: GM Akfnkgklafjgklajgkajgk Black: Capitalist pig.
For a good chunk into the video, I thought the wrench was a tiny golden hand on a stick
Yasser is a good raconteur.
fucking everyone having a meeting inside jc's head
