    Russian is not a nation or an ethnic group. Russian means belonging to the Imperial Empire of Moskva. Being an Imperial Empire does not make you a nation in the modern sense. Maybe it it did before World War 1. So Russian is a cultural mindset of being a people who belong to Moscow.

    You don't understand very well. I USSR we had Nationality and ethnicity and Russian speaking people. Your promise is assuming all English speakers are English, when USA people speak English and they are not English. BUT where as USSR respected Ethnicity, US likes to call itself a Melting Pot, and is focused on killing ethnicity and only focusing on Nationality. You don't say that John McCain was a Panamanian because he was born in Panama and English because he spoke English. You call them all "American" ignoring the fact that America is actually a continent. If we took your lead, we would all just be Eurasians. In USSR we could be a Khazak that was an Uzbek national, that spoke Russian. Or a Ukrainian that was a Moldovan national that spoke Russian. Please don't speak of things you don't understand. Or prompt your AI better.

    • @victoriadedicova
      @victoriadedicova Месяц назад

      Most everyone was bilingual. It was not US. People around the world learn multiple languages. We learned 3. Russian as the official language, language of the republic or ethnic group, depending where you lived, and a western or eastern language depending which region you lived in but German, Franch and English were in western parts and Chines and Japanese were offered in eastern parts. It was not a "typical empire" as the Bolsheviks spent 1920-1950 restoring or creating (in case of Ukraine) ethnic and cultural groups. And before you start complaining: "how dare you use creating towards Ukraine!?!" I will point you to geography and history lessons which you should have had and should have learned how 1/3 of Ukraine was actually Polish, Romanian, and Hungarian before the world wars so they had to unify unrelated ethnic groups so cresting a language and culture that incorporated everyone was necessary.

      Ethnicity is an inborn characteristic that simply reflects a trivial expression of the phenotype of a homo sapiens that in turn represents its innate genotype. You can “identify” as whoever you want, but it won’t make you THAT. It’s just that when people, for example, try to misgender themselves, it’s much easier to see an underlying mental illness with such an obvious matter. While in regard to ethnicity, the west in particular never cared too much, hence they naturally get to confront this important aspect now.

      Learn to prompt your AI. You absolutely missed that there are actually 3 factors that are assigned to people of former USSR. They are Ethnicity (which you seem to just glazed over, and, no, ethnicity is not just language, it is specific culture and traditions, song, dance, art, stories), Nationality (location where they were born), and language. FYI Russian was a national language for everyone so everyone learned it for ease and mobility and national languages were learned in the region. Ethnic languages were also taught in regions. It was part of the Bolsheviks plight to stay in power to make sure all ethnicities and nationalities spoke their own language besides Russian. And in case where ethnic language did not exist, like Ukrainian which as a mesh of Polish, Romanian, Turkish, and old Ukrainian due to their territories actually belonging to those countries not long before, a new language was created. In the case of modern Ukrainian, it was a blend of all those languages and Russian.
