DJ Set at Eurofurence 28 Dance Stage / September 2024
This is my DJ set for Eurofurence 2024 - that almost didn't happen. My laptop got destroyed by a liquid accident on the way to Hamburg, but thankfully Suran loaned me his trusty Thinkpad and I quickly re-downloaded the most important tracks again, installed Traktor Pro, and then ... took another three hours to beat bloody Windows 11 into submission.
It worked for exactly the duration of the set. At the very end, the driver crashes, and that's the last sound it ever played on that laptop. Luckily that was supposed to be my last track anyways :)

I finally got around to upload the recording of my DJ set at the Bavaria Fur Dance at the Z-Bau in Nürnberg - it's a bit of a mixed bag, half techno, half hardstyle. Because I'm an adult, and I can do whatever I want :) Enjoy :) (PS.: I had to remove one song because they didn't want to be played on youtube. Well then.)

I think this was one of my best DJ experiences of all times. The energy in the room was INSANE. I'm still getting the chills watching this :) There's just nothing like completely goofing off in front of an audience and giving everybody a good time. After all the stress that lead up to EF this year, it was outright cathartic.

I had the honor of being a Guest of Honor at EAST at the beautiful Ringberg Hotel in Suhl. This was sortof my EF-Warmup-Set so the selection of tracks might sound familiar if you've listened to my Eurofurence set first :) Thanks to Kiedran and the team for recording this set and making the videos available to everyone.

I've not actually played at my home convention for more than 15 years, and I always felt I shouldn't (ab)use my chairman privileges with slots sought after so badly. However, after the hiatus and the pandemic, I just had to. And boy, I think this was the most fun I've ever had on a stage. The atmosphere was fantastic, and that pirate ship DJ booth gave me some absolute festival vibes.

Trying to code a little raster routine and music on the VIC-20 ... my first bit of VIC-20 code in 30 years. Getting decent sound of this chip is HARD, since there's no dedicated sound chip as on the C64. Same with raster routines. There is no raster interrupt, so you have to "chase the beam" manually.

The CFD crew gave me the opportunity to open their rooftop straming event "Cologne Nights" - which turned out to be the most fun music event (albeit a virtual one, because of the pandemic) of the year. Hardstyle acted as heavier trance back way when too so it fits so well. Hardstyle barrowed a ton from trance back then and it gave it a massively unique sound
