    I admire you taking on that project. There is one for sale locally and I have been considering buying it and making it more portable.

      @@reddogroad2120 so if I were you….and please don’t be swayed by my opinion here…but I would buy the M3 and leave it alone as far as making it more portable. All of the organ’s weight is from its upper body so losing the bottom part of it doesn’t really help in reducing the weight. Is it a bit more portable? Maybe. But I acquired another M3 late last year and I leave it on the dolly for transporting it to and from places. But by all means, best of luck if you decide to go through with this!

      I would recommend a USB cable, not a MIDI cable, if that's truly what you're using. Also, the sound will come from whatever software application you're using (Logic, Kontakt, Ableton, whatever) and you'll have to configure your audio output through that application. Make sense?

    Hi Ryan. How does it feel compared to version 2 49keys? Great video btw and I also love the Xpand! 2 software. I don't have the funds yet for Omnisphere 2 so its pads and strings will suit me just fine for worship.

    • @ryanrice
      @ryanrice 6 лет назад

      Hi James! I honestly couldn't tell you how it feels compared to the version 2 49 key board. I would imagine that it would feel the same but hopefully with some improvements! Xpand!2 is pretty decent for free, right?? I also don't blame you for getting Omnisphere. It's a great product. I put all my cash into Kontakt as well as plugins for MainStage, but maybe one day I can get Ominsphere. We'll see. I have a synth hardware addiction that is proving tough to control. A quick M-3 movability Mod. is to add a 1/4" plywood sheet to the bottom to avoid scrapping or hanging up the Pedals and move it with a Piano Dolly (Non-Swivel casters). Works fine, as long as you aren't going up stairs. I have an ultrasmall M-3 Chop I've built, but need to finish Manuals-to-Generator wiring.

    • @ryanrice
      @ryanrice 6 лет назад

      Craig Browning that’s an interesting idea for moving it! Right after I got my M3 my grandfather helped me make a dolly for it, and it worked really well! The problem I ran into with the mod was once it was complete, the organ didn’t really fit on the dolly all that well so I have to be careful on how I load it. It’s still fully moveable though! If I ever get another M3 I will probably do something like this so I don’t have to make another dolly.

      I also have a Second M-3 I am making a Bill Beer-Style chop out of, W/Trek II Preamp. Trying to make it physically small as possible. Generator behind manuals now, using Pedal Tabs for Leslie. Need to finish Pedals to Manuals wiring.

    • @ryanrice
      @ryanrice 7 лет назад

      TheMagicFox it was a few different pad layers that I put on top of each other; 3 to be specific. I typically use a "Shimmer" style pad with a warm pad underneath it and put a vocal type pad on top of the Shimmer pad. I really liked how it turned out!

    I did the same thing to mine but I can't reconnect the pedals

    • @ryanrice
      @ryanrice 9 лет назад

      +john mackey The bass pedals or swell/volume pedal? Just in way of an update, I ditched that horrible sounding Korg G4 and put a Boss RT-20 for my Leslie sim.....MUCH BETTER. I've been meaning to make a new video with my entire rig rundown and that will be one of the highlights. Also, I got an Ernie Ball swell pedal, and that has been worth every penny. Even if you have the original Hammond swell pedal (I kept mine just cause I couldn't part with it) you can never fully have the organ silent. With the Ernie Ball you get silence, and that's been worth it's weight in gold. Lastly, I built a back cover for the organ from pegboard. Again, I need to make a new video soon to show all of this, but the organ sounds even better and has some pretty sweet natural overdrive to it.

    • @johnmackey5150
      @johnmackey5150 9 лет назад

      +ryan rice Do you know how I can reconnect my pedals, I have mine hooked up to the leslie pedal. the organ itself works but the bass pedals dont

    • @ryanrice
      @ryanrice 9 лет назад

      The bass pedals are connected to the amplifier (last time I checked), so you would need to re-solder them there.

    • @ryanrice

      Also, download the manual for the M model Hammond if you haven't done so yet, so you can see the schematics for all the organ models. Just do a Google search for Hammond M3 manual.
