The Left Banke - Pretty Ballerina - 4/24/15 at Le Poisson Rouge
Read a comment on a version of the original recording. Said , one hit wonder. No wonder. Dumbass wasn’t there in ‘66. Missed them when they vanished.
Not quite, but it’s live. It’s great.
Beautiful ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏼
Is the lyrics available?
“Somewhere a mountain is moving…” is my favorite lyric EVER!
Amazing voice
Wo’s the cowboy?
He didnt sing or do anything
Rest in Peace, Steve Caro. 🌹 Your voice grabbed a generation; pitch perfect and beautiful, just like you. ❤️
How many original members left ?
Original and founding member George Cameron is in this performance but sadly passed away. Rick Brand is still alive, but he was not a founding member.
@@theleftbankeofficial They had some great music in '60s.
Myu favorite song on tge Beckies album
50 years late, discovered this band!👍
BRAVO a fine performance Thank You !
That violinist is SPOT ON PERFECT !
Steve was asked to rejoin the group before he passed? I've read varying accounts.
Doubtful that he wanted to. He seemed reclusive and happy to be reclusive.
He was doing rehearsals with fellow bandmate George Cameron and Sam Kogon before he passed away, so there seemed to be plans for a reunion with Steve, but it unfortunately never materialised in time - George passed away a few months later, followed by Steve almost two years later. It's a shame that the band members couldn't put aside their differences. They made two fine albums in the 60s that will never be forgotten. Their legacy & music will live on.
Tom Finn and Steve did tour as the Left Banke. I didn't see them, but found an autographed CD in a used bin.
A lesson why drums should never be miked I reckon, rest fab though
The melody just grabs your heart strings!
Nearly forty years ago I was standing at the jukebox, decided to play the flip side of "Walk Away Renee", and I've been hooked on this beautiful song ever since. ❤
Must have been a Greatest Hits single as those were two separate singles originally. Looks like Steve Martin is the only original member in this video.
@@harvey1954 You very well could be right. :)
@@emilytrott Just picked up the Bamcarouso reissue of the Montage album.
I thought it was originals until I looked at singers face
I found this band i feel in love thanks for your music❤
Sounded good, nice try keeping this music true to the original, but it isn't really The Left Banke. It's a tribute band of young guys who weren't even born when the real Left Banke existed. They need a name change.
this line up features original and founding member George Cameron
The Wonders of the Internet !😍
beautiful voice!!
Thanks for listening
Thank you for any information about this great and unforgettable band. God bless you, Left Banke.
I wish I could hear more from this night. This was a tribute to the songwriter Michael Brown also known as Michael Lukosky! His Dad helped with the string arrangements for several songs back in the mid 60's. His Dad Harry, was a musician.
Rocking single by Steve from Hot parts
yes! that's me singing lead vocals, thanks for listening!
From History originally
Originally from 2000?
Unfortunately at this time of writing all the original members are deceased however the music lives on Baroque Rock Lydian Mode scale Revolutionary for its time 1966.
What a fantastic job on this song..instrumentation and vocals..is this singer the son of original singer?
Thanks so much, that's me on lead vocals.
Well done ❤ @@samkogonofficial
Hadn't their sons just lost their father? Michael Brown died in 2015.
Yes. His sons did a great job on his song too. I'm sure he was looking down from up there with a smile on his face.
Wow, that lead Singer did a fantastic job, I couldn’t tell the difference between his voice and the original, some people are just so gifted and blessed
hey that was me singing, thank you so much!
@Sam Kogon you nailed it. Great song. We had it on " Crossroads" a 60s compilation album
Damn. He is really good. I absolutely love this song. And his voice.
A beautiful soul.
Cowboy is a waste of space!
A nice group of children honoring the original band, including some of Brown's children.
Thanks! I was singing lead vocals here
Nice ☮️ always love and remember this song
YOU, THE LEFT BANKE, HAVE LEFT TO US TOO MUCH MUSiC and LOVE I ADORE YOU. DANiELE
RIP FRATELLI
Wow. Steve Martin Caro on the RUclips
How unfortunate that he fairly disappeared from music after such a short span. Such a great, great voice.
@Mike Davis Thank you for the info on High Flyer. I thought I'd heard all the demos and later stuff the guys had done, but see this was just "released" a couple weeks ago. Great find. Listened to Airborne already. Very nice.
It was a pity that Steve Martin Caro could not have been part of this reunion of The Left Banke seen and heard in the video uploaded here. Actually, it appears only one guy in this video (the one wearing the cowboy hat) is old enough to have been an original member. And which one is he? Is that the late Tom Finn Who is the vocalist who substituted for Caro here? His tenor voice is actually very close to Caro's. Although, of course, there is still nothing like having the "real deal," plus that Caro was so stunningly beautiful in body as well in voice, a perfect physical manifestation of The Left Banke's achingly, hauntingly beautiful "Baroque Pop" music. By the way, is there any film or videotape available of Steve Martin Caro with The Left Banke besides those few already uploaded to RUclips, one from the lip-synced appearance in ABC-TV's (Dick Clark's) "Where the Action Is?"
That's Steve.
A nice version of the song indeed! Here's my take on it: ruclips.net/video/hInSyw9Gp9E/видео.html
horrible recording
all 5 are dead now?
All members, as of now, are deceased.
This was the final song of that the group has written.
Do you have any more interviews with Steve? Would be wonderful to hear more. This is the first time I think I’ve heard his spoken voice.
Here's a short radio interview from 1967 featuring Steve: ruclips.net/video/jdgpLdbmSMg/видео.html
Love the way they played that song. Grate song.
Only a musical genius could write a song like that and Michael Brown was one. Its is sad that The Left Banke and Michael suffered through some turbulent times within the group, with the record label, producers (Mikes dad) and such. The music that they left was wonderful and their work is always under rated. If you liked this listen to Pretty Ballerina and Walk Away Rene. They are also great songs. RIP group, you left us with many great songs to remember you all by.
Would like to see more photos and videos of Steve in his later years in Florida.
yes, me too! Everything I have read says that he was an incredibly sweet, humble man. Did you know that his mother was the internationally famous flamenco artist Sarita Heredia? His father, who died young, was an influential artist and diplomat. Steve was very well educated and fluent in several languages.
I realize Steve loved John Lennon but let it be known that I, and countless other Left Banke followers, love Steve far more than John Lennon! To me, Steve is far superior!!
Thank you for the support. John was Steve’s hero and biggest inspiration.
Wake me up when tHe BeAtLeS come up with something as good as Dark is the Bark.
*REMAINS SLEEPING FOREVER*
@@theleftbankeofficial I hear Steve's voice as having influences of both Paul and John. John's approach was drier, often cynical, and Paul's more sensitive, romantic.
John Lennon is far better artist then Steve could ever be. John Lennon inspired millions of kids to pick up the guitar, including Steve. Don’t you dare disparage Lennon.
