Sorry about that. The plug uses an 18 mm socket, that should be the only one that uses such big head, I doubt there will be 18mm bolts undeneath

Bout to do this, cause this is the 2nd defective switch I got.....I'm tired of it....waste of oil and money......barely made it home tonight........question tho.....if I keep the oil switch unplugged will the oil light turn off? Or stay on?

I live in Guam, being a tropical place, corrosion is always an issue, and without compression test, I took a chance buying this car after I saw how bad the corrosion buildup was on the battery posts. I cleaned them, neutralized with baking soda, then I went further by disassembling both the cables from the battery clamps, cleaned with steel brush. I applied dielectric grease for better contact and prevent corrosion. Then I did the same with engine ground to frame connections, as well as the 3 harness to frame grounds -- 1 on the driver side and 2 on the passenger side (I popped the cover of the one with 5 or 6 ground connectors to scrape the greenish corrosion) Then I disconnected every quick disconnect there is to apply a thin coat of dielectric grease, from alternator, MAF sensors, etc, to individual fuses and relays, the fuse box housing quick disconnect and went as far as opening the box that houses 2 electronics to apply the same. I then fully charged the battery... have gone to about 5 hot starts now with no issue other than that 3 seconds to start, which I think will improve once I upgrade the starter and the coil packs. I have yet to change the spark plugs.

@@Catts-DIO that’s good maintenance stuff there I did the same thing, the spark plugs I did a little later on but I took them out to see its conditions for a piece of mind.. they were still usable though. Next is replacing the starter for me, this week I just replaced the shocks with coilovers and changed the diff oil, next week it’s the motor oil and gear oil plus getting new wipers. Rx8 is an amazing experience, had the twin turbo fd ten years ago and I miss it both drive the same in the way they handle

All I know is that it was owned by Lilles Family, plural of lilly is lillies that if pronounced in Tagalog, also sounds like the owner's family name, hence the streets are lily flowers

@@Catts-DIO The name of the architect who designed and built my parents' house in QC back in 1971 is Renato Lilles. I strongly suspect he also built this Lillesville subdivision.

No need to join... It was a regular FB post but I think the group migrated my post to theirs. I copied and pasted the text of my post below: Newbie to rotors I just picked this up a week ago with the associated RX8 challenge -- hot start - no start! 2004 110k miles, cold start - starts fine, but wont restart when hot. Previous owner said new oem coil packs and wires, plugs questionable, new MAF sensor, still original starter, battery a year old. I added "Restore" and cleaned all the corroded electrical connections (both battery terminals and chassis groundings) and used dielectric grease on all the quick disconnects I could find... Voila! It now restarts hot although I am not happy with the 3 seconds it takes, so I will get a 2kw starter and need advice on the coil pack upgrade. Let's roll👍

It boiled down to the age of the car -- corrosion happens. I cleaned all the ground wires, systematically disconnecting or disassembling each, cleaning with steel brush, applying a thin coat of dielectric grease (for better connection and corrosion prevention) then reinstalling/reassembling (as in the case of the positive term of battery and some gang ground wires) You might be surprised by some of the green corrosion you will find o, n some, Go thru all the ground wires on the chassis, engine block, some components, and both battery terminals. I went as far as disconnecting all the electrical quick disconnects I could find under the hood just to apply some dielectric grease {one at a time so you dont forget and miss reconnecting any} No more hot start issue!
