    This content is absolute gold 🌟. No flashy gimmicks, just pure practical advice explained clearly. So many 'chess thinking' videos veer off into analysing specific positions and make the actual algorithm impossible to follow or just stick to simplistic CCT. I am writing this approach on flashcards to help memorise. I look forward to seeing how the structure and discipline will improve my play. Thank you Luka 🙏

    Retired high school Religion, Math and Philosophy teacher here. I recently bought the Opening Lab course and was so impressed with it I bought all 118 courses. I've seen improvement in my opening play. I believe success comes from habit and that's where ChessKing really shines. I just keep focussing on each task and it's a very enjoyable experience. There are snobs out there who will say the interface looks outdated but it looks just fine to me. Plus I now have over 200,000 chess problems to solve! Cheers from Canada! BTW...I bought the entire course at 25% discount so only $187 USD. And I've even heard some guys have become Master level players through sheer repetition of using this course.

    I currently read Polgar Book. I am at 500s. I solve using a chess engine on computer. I try to avoid changing pieces but I change them when I need to and I leave the problem if I can't solve it in 5 min. Have you finished the book? Were mate in 3s and games much more harder than mate in 2s?

    Chess king for mobile is such a good app. I highly recommend it for anyone of any skill levels. It’s a bit clunky, so take some time learning how it works, because it has a ton of features that aren’t obvious. KEEP IN MIND MOBILE PURCHASES DO NOT CARRY OVER TO DESKTOP. CT ART is great. Beginner to club player is awesome. Basically every learning package is great.

    I think your background in science should let you learn bettsr in a top-down manner. Start with strategy, then go on openings & find the most likely tactics that occur on your chosen opening. Finally, study the end game positions that would likely occur in your chosen openings. Everything ties together.

    I think for solving, and making it more like a tournament game, one needs stakes. E.g., if you do X solutions in Y time, you get a reward. Perhaps a treat. If not, a punishment. Perhaps pushups and squats. You might have reps according to how many puzzles you got wrong.

    In the second game ...Nd7 was not positional blunder, but tactical blunder because of d6-...Bxd6-Qd2 and you cannot defend against two heavy pieces lined up on the d-file. You opponent also missed this. If you could see such tactical nuances you would dramatically improve your game

    The explanation is completely wrong. De la Maza writes in the book: "Note that positions in which the black king can recapture the queen after the queen captures the rook are not valid. Focus only on positions in which the capture of the rook is safe." Great channel though. Helped me a lot.

    Hi Luka, thanks for positing. I followed your analysis, though I am not sure if the reason for the errors/blunders were just being adult chess player. I think a key problem is that in these rapid games you just don't have enough time to think in critical positions. Take the first game for example. You missed the correct continuation in a very critical position, but you hardly had enough time to list candidate moves, analyze, prove for yourself your choice is the best you can come up with, etc. Perhaps focusing on longer games will be a more fruitful exercise to help get back in shape.

    Hi, Luka, I think this series of blunders is only natural, analogous to the performance drop some athletes experience before achieving records. I trust that soon your chess set point will reach a higher level. Anyway, rationalizing blunders, in my opinion, serves little purpose. As you have taught us, there is a huge difference between chess skill and knowledge, and rationalization falls into the latter category. To impact the former, in my opinion, there's only training with spaced repetition and board vision. There's no escaping it...

    • @AdultChessImprover
      @AdultChessImprover 6 месяцев назад

      I agree. I am not even trying to rationalize blunders, it's just that I've decided to analyse all my rapid games on the channel, so I have to show blunders as well. I also keep doing my tactical traning with spaced repetition

    • @stolciusvonstolcenberg5581
      @stolciusvonstolcenberg5581 6 месяцев назад

      I think a true athlete is revealed in times of injury (in this case, consecutive blunders), and I believe you have the qualities of a true athlete to overcome these moments, which, I repeat, are only physiological dips before positive peaks 😊

    hi there, why dont you work simply part time? I do that (phd in geochemistry) (32 hour work week) and so i have lots of time for chess and heavy metall bass playing! Also, my job isnt exactly stressful, so i often play chess at work (home office). Working part time was one of the best decisions of my life! -> very good for the mental health due to more freedom.

    • @AdultChessImprover
      @AdultChessImprover 6 месяцев назад

      I agree, but this is not so common in Croatia, with rare exceptions everyone is expected to have 40-hours work week. But for the last few years I do work from my home office, and now I have much more time for other things - I don't have to commute and I am generally less tired.
