Human instinct would say one of two things. 1) im not doing that, ill take the 30,000 men 2) ok, ill do as im told but except it wont work and im going to die. I dont think either please god. Here's a patter you can to go with the video: There's an American man by the name of Joe Castillo. He came from a really artistic family and, at the age of 14 he became a Christian and he thought to himself well if God's given me the gift of being an artist then I should probably use that to serve him. So he started drawing pictures of Bible stories but he did it in a really unusual way. In fact it was so unusual he actually ended up going on America's got talent - he didn't win but he came fifth which is pretty good for someone who just draws pictures of Bible stories. Any how I thought I might show you a video of some of the stuff he does and I've got a few little Bible verses to go alongside just to help explain what's going on. It goes something like this: [Wait until the second line of sand is placed down]In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep And God said, 'Let there be light' [star] and there was light. God saw that the light was good and he separated [sky sweep] the light from the darkness Then God said 'Let the land [plant] produce green plants and let there be trees, that bear fruit according to their kinds' and it was so and God saw that it was good. Now the Lord God planted a garden in the east, in Eden and there he put the man he had formed. [leaves] The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground that were good for food [apples] and pleasing to the eye. And God saw that it was good. In the middle of the garden [flowers] were the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And the Lord God commanded them 'You are free to eat from any tree in the garden but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or you will surely die ' Now the serpent [hands] was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said “Did God really say 'you must not eat from any tree in the Garden?” The woman said to serpent 'we may eat the fruit of the trees but God did say 'you must not eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden and you must not touch it or you will die.” “You will not die.” the serpent 'For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. They knelt in front of him and mocked him 'Hail King of the Jews' they said... and struck him in the face. Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it up in three days, save yourself! {Come down from the cross if you are the Son of God”} It was now about the sixth hour [clouds] and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. And the curtain in the temple was torn [lightning] in two. With a loud cry Jesus breathed his last [stripes transition] At dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdelene went to look at the tomb [circle] She found the stone rolled away. [hand sweep] Hurrying away from the tomb, suddenly Jesus met her. As a Christian, to me there's so many amazing things about the story of Jesus' crucifixion and I just want to mention one of them today. When he's on the cross, one of the things that always staggers me is that he asks God to forgive the very people who are killing him. He says 'Father forgive them they know not what they do' But in some ways I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that because the whole reason Jesus came to earth was to offer forgiveness, to make it possible for all things people had done wrong from the time of Adam and Eve onwards to be forgiven. And to receive that forgiveness the Bible talks about two things we've got to do. It says we've got to believe - no surprises there - but it also says that if we want God to forgive us, we've also got to forgive other people when they've done things that have hurt us. Just like Jesus forgave those who hurt him.
