The new cheap stream king! Why I’m switching from Fire TV and Roku.
I did this exact same project just earlier this week. You would have saved me a bunch of time. I was able to find the same instruction guide and it was easy to follow. I ran $70 tablets with fully kiosk as wall panels for over a year until they started to crash, I'm guessing the memory or battery. This Lenovo ThinkSmart is very high quality and runs directly on power so my guess is it will perform very well for several years. Also don't forget to update the WebView so everything can display correctly. Also since it has a built in Mic and Speaker you can find integrations to make it a Voice device. There is so much potential with this device.
Moca is an amazing solution that without a dough, that helps you get up and running without having to re wired your home. I know exactly what I have to do to re-run wires in my home. However the amount of time it will take is not worth my time. MOCA works great and a lot easier to set up for sure. Thanks for your video.
Thanks for the comment it helps the channel! I too am more than capable of running cable but if you already have unused coax in rooms why not use it use it!
Hi! There any option to receive like a call everytime anyone calls to the doorbell? I know that they send a notification but I rather a call instead. Thanks
Hi thanks for the comment. I installed the one in the video for myself and my mother in laws and both ring to the phone like a regular call would.
I had a Eufy wired doorbell which stop connecting to WIFI after 18months... Out of warranty and tech support couldn't fix either. I have went ahead and after watching your vid, taking a chance on D130. I also have Kasa light switch for Porch so I think I should be able to automate this as well to light up outside. Hope this one works out better than Eufy!!! Thanks! Also, I didn't see much diff between new versions other than battery option.
Yeah I agree the D130 seemed to be the better choice since it’s hardwired and priced reasonably for the risk. Which model were you looking at? The automation works great for deterring nighttime critters like raccoons 😉. I’ll be showing how well it works with the home automation platform I chose in the upcoming video I’m working on.
great video!!!!!!!!
Have you been able to record past 23 minutes in 4k23fps? I have had no luck with longer recording times. Most of the test that I have seen on RUclips have not recorded past a couple minutes on the DIY cfexpress type b cards.
No I’ve tried once but I realized the thermals of the nvme play a factor. However it is rare that I do long recordings in one shot like that.
Does one need a router for powerline to work? Maybe varies depending on different powerline products? :D
Great review / primer 🫡
Thank you for the comment each one helps the channel!
Leaving a comment for the algorithm, because you deserve way more views!
Thank you! I just got back from a journey so I'll be working on some backlog content soon!
Your Voice is so absolutely smooth 😲❤
Can the videos recorded on the microSD card be viewed later via the app? Or only by retrieving the card from the doorbell?
My condo 3rd floor my camera is on the garage in the back of the building . The cam can't connect to wifi ( to far ) what is my best option not a geek at all
Sec network sucks
I have Androidx86 with this launcher on my laptop. Runs smooth and looks great! But I can't seem to get my wireless xbox controller dongle to power on. It worked fine on this laptop when I had Batocera and windows running on it. Any ideas?
the input is it 220v AC?
It runs off of standard doorbell wiring, which uses a transformer to step down from mains voltage to 12-24V DC. You may need to upgrade your transformer for stable power delivery.
You still need to display the password, for example if someone needs it for a laptop.
Thank you for another great video. I had my USG and switch/APs setup watching your previous video. It was working great until one of my switch POE failed and I had to reset the USG, since then it is not working specially the step where WAN is modified to DHCPv6 with a VLAN ID 0, it is not saving throwing an Error msg 'There was an error saving WAN1 network" And I am stuck on that step, rebooted USG multiple times but no use. Any help is appreciated . . .
OK follow your steps and set this thing up as instructed but what are the benefits? Is there a way I can get free Internet? I’ve done everything but still cannot connect to the Internet. How do I get free internet and not use att?
This isn't free internet.
So this might be a dumb question but I need help I have this router but for some reason it keeps rebooting everytime I play Xbox online. I have tried port forwarding I have tried resetting I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. Please help
I had a similar issue to that years ago. It ended up being caused by my AT&T modem dropping packets. It would do a full reset and resync. I would say either check with AT&T on getting a line test or replace the modem.
For fair results should be pinging the same server not different servers
Nice, try to blink more often. :)
Thanks for that I don't want to have an account but I had read you need an account like the ring to download the video. I can now go ahead and replace my ring door bell
It’s very different from ring I have an internal memory card where video is stored. If you add one you will be storing video locally but you could also signup for a cloud subscription if you choose. With what I do for a living I want the ability to isolate everything from the outside world if I choose. I also chose this camera for its rtsp ability which allows me to record to my internal nas/cloud solution. I’ll cover that in a video as well soon. Best of luck to you with the swap!
Can you use an existing ding doing chime and can I download video via the app like the tapo cameras
Yes and yes. I have my hardwired doorbell working and the “smart” chime can be plugged in anywhere you have WiFi. The chime goes in my wife’s office and when we have functions in the backyard we move the chime to the back porch so we can hear someone at the front door. The motion clips have a section where they can be downloaded individually.
Just came across this video looking for something else and it gave me the start of another idea that will be completely unnecessary and probably a waste of my time and money, but that's my MO! The cable you used is a basic 3.5mm to RCA? Great video, but the way! Nice setup too!
Yep a basic 3.5 to rca cable. I thought it was a cool discovery but it seems the RUclips algorithm thought otherwise. Glad you got a bit of inspiration from it though!
I want to play Xbox online but the stupid AT&T modem gives me a strict NAT type and says upnp unavailable. I tried following these steps with my own router but it says strict and double nat type. Super frustrating
I’m going through the same thing right now my router will reboot when I try to play games online it’s very frustrating and I still haven’t been able to find anything that works. Please let me know if you do
It’s been 2 months since you posted this so maybe you’ve figured it out. I had the same issue but just keep rebooting both devices and eventually it will take the correct IP address. Took 3 reboots for me before it finally worked correctly
@@Kapono5150 I still have not found a solution. Got rid of the strict nat and upnp not successful but att router continues to reboot when I play online games. Tech said my best bet would be go to spectrum🥹
I have the u100 smart lock, but I am wondering if you can have 2 of them, one for the front and one for the back door. I have found nothing that verifies you can do that.
Yes that should not be a problem. I will be adding one to the door from the garage very soon. If run 2 smart locks in my last home and in the rental I just left without any issues.
Hi! I just finished watching your great video review. I had a question about how the Tapo doorbell works in conjunction with the Tapo app. I already have a Tapo account and use the app for my CCTV cameras. If I connect the doorbell to the same account, will my phone automatically make a sound when the doorbell is pressed? Or will I have to open the app to see who is at the door? I’m looking for a doorbell that functions like the BUZ app, which automatically sounds an alert when someone calls me.
Hi and thanks for your comment. On my devices it sends a notification to the phone that you can interact with to pull up a call window in the app. Depending on your setup it can/will also show up on Amazon and Google devices. The doorbell shows up on my TVs as well. I had to cut time in the video for fear of it becoming too long so I wasn’t able to share that as well. I am planning a follow up video with my home automation solution in the not too distant future.
It constantly changes "explore" to "learn". Please advise. Thank you
I'm on the /learn but I cannot find any place to search CHEVROLET
Worked perfectly with BGW210! Used TP-Link Deco Mesh System (X55) (3 units). Important to make sure you are using a ethernet cable connected to modem and PC. 1. Log into ATT modem using any browser. (192.168.1.254). 2. Disable Packet Filters. 3. Go into the firewall advanced tab and make sure all settings are set to off and then save. 4. Select allocation mode to IP Pass-through, then manually enter your routers MAC address (can be found on router) then save. 5. Make sure to turn off 2.4GHz wireless along with 5GHz signal. 6. Restart your modem. Should be all set to plug in your new/current router! Hope this helps somebody out there!
on Step #4: Are we entering the x55 MAC address or the BGW210 MAC address manually?
You should get %98 of your original speed with powerline
Thanks for reviewing
So when you enable this method you will no longer be able to log into the modem through the web portal unless you use the wireless access point on the att modem?
I'm jealous of your Internet speeds, in Australia our common Internet package which most people get is 50/20 and we pay $90 a month (55 USD).
Sheesh, there are some rural pockets here that are like that. My new ISP I just switched to is giving me a gig symmetrical for $70 now and they use eeros to interface with their ONT
I am from Australia and I get 1000MB speed download and live in a suburb. Where do you live in the country⁉️
I have been struggling with my U-Bell door camera since I bought it almost a year ago. For the life of me, I can't get it to connect via the App on my Samsung S22 Ultra. Everything is connected as far as the doorbell, but it keeps saying the device is offline. SMGH! Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations since they no longer offer Tech Support for the device? I've tried unregistering the device and I can't seem to do it because when I think I deleted the account and try to start over it says the device was previously added/registered.
Unfortunately when I sold my last house the doorbell stayed behind. I just picked up the new tplink Tapo d130 on Amazon for $50 and it out performs most smart doorbells TP-Link Tapo D130 Doorbell: The Budget Ring Doorbell Alternative! ruclips.net/video/g15zzfG4R0Y/видео.html
Welcome home! Again!!
Just a tip when you connect the powerline adapter for the first time resync them together so they can work out the best seed to run at, the out of the box state may limit the speed as im sure most are set to the slowest speed out the box for maximum reliability, I know resyncing mine improved my speed big time.
Thanks for the tip
@@IDEAHomeandTech did u get better results after?
@@silverflash1675 That would be good info to know.
@@arranmc182 these were unboxed offscreen and in my case needed to be synced out of the box. I don't believe resyncing would net better results in the rental home I was in. This is mostly due to the distance of the internal wiring in this rental home. It was a 2 story home with the circuit panel in the garage and a bit older. However, since this video I also did a video on MOCA adapters which is my preferred method when available. We also moved 2 months ago and the new home is prewired in pretty much every room with cat 6 so it may be a while before I rerun this test since I have a ton of other videos I'd like to get out. But I will likely revisit it just to see what the difference is in comparison to just the "stock" home cabling and the MOCA adapters. I now have 1 gig low latency fiber to the home so that test will be interesting!
how
Powerline adapter standards are cheeky when then say 2000Mbps its actually 1000Mbps in each direction just like a standard Gigabit ethernet connection, they seem to love combing the download and upload rates so they can slap bigger numbers on the Box and marketing promos 😅
If your in the UK and your fuse box has an RCD then 100% get power line adaptors, I got a free upgrade from VDSL 70Mbps down to Full Fibre 200Mbps down and get the full speed of my internet via powerline adapters no issues, I picked up the TP-Link TL-PA7027P KIT (simalar to the ones used in this video but for the uk market) as that one has dual ethernet ports on both ends so acts as a bit of a switch and also has the power passthrough so you still retail use of the socket.
How do you log in
In what position(s) did you move the switch(s) to on both MoCa adapters? 1GW, LAN or 25GW? I'm running ethernet from the ONT directly to my Router (no need for a MoCa adapter here) BUT I will need 2 of these, 1 after the Router and 1 at the other end of my home (2nd floor) to obtain a wired ethernet connection. Thanks!
So here are my 2 cents… I’ve owned and used several Roombas , between myself and family members. I also maintain several lodging properties, where we have tried a few different brands of robot vacuums and mopping robots. So far, we have found robot vacuuming to be invaluable in cleaning and maintenance. However testing of all mopping robots has not provided any such value. They are cumbersome , high maintenance, and not very effective. The brand Tikom is the best robot vacuum, by far! But for mopping, we are still waiting …
I don't disagree the mopping just isn't there yet and having to swap out to add the pads isn't ideal. But I'd say it's not a bad add to the device if they aren't going g ro provide a larger bin for the vacuum. I k ow features is the name of the game and they wouldn't stand out otherwise but I was still pleasantly surprised that it worked at all because I was skeptical.
Super Helpful!
Underrated info and testing data. Thanks for the clarification!
Like your channel. You might want to reconsider your “gigawatt” statement at 3:51. It reminds me of back to the future “1.21 gigawatt” line where he realized you need a bolt of lightning to deliver that much power
Just wait till you see the announcement I have planned next month
hey i just wanted to correct u on one thing the yellow one is idle latency/ping and the small ones for down and up is what u really should look at since 100Mbps is basicaly all u need the latency/ping is where its at
Interesting. Would have though powerline would give the best results.
Lines of sight for the extender and the length of the electrical run plus potential interference from other electronics down the line come into effect. But honestly I was a bit surprised myself. I'm currently working on 2 other options.
What is this for? Will it speed up the internet?
Depending on what you have from AT&T and what you will use as part of your bypass potentially yes. I also did it back then for the control and stability.
Thank you straight forward
What is the difference between IP pass through and bridge mode? I’m trying to understand the difference.
In IP passthrough mode, your selected device gets the public IP address, but other devices connected directly to your router will get local IP addresses and still be able to connect to the internet through it network address translation (NAT). In bridge mode, the ISP routes the internet traffic via your modem/router device without carrying out any routing functions. When you set your modem/router in bridge mode it only passes the WAN/ public IP to the next device, your router/firewall.
Good stuff. Really helpful
