Most probably the call should be from Central Govt. officer or Ministry of Home affairs or may be your local police station. If they are calling you, they would surely introduce themselves to you, and if they are calling, it's pretty sure they are genuine because the way the process is, you would get the call correctly only. So just cross question them about their name, post, designation, address of office etc to be sure, I did the same to ask who is calling me when I received the call for the verification. How much you need depends on how much you want to spend. Do keep around 3000-4000 INR with you if you want to spend or buy from the shops there. If the PKR is left, you will mandatorily have to get it exchanged to INR because PKR is not allowed in India, so if u bring PKR to India even by mistake, you may face a legal trial. Left currency needs mandatorily exchanged at the counters there.

You can take the camera and shoot and take pictures throughout the corridor and Gurdwara without any restrictions but no spare battery, no spare memory card is allowed. I am not sure about the camera stand / tripods as well.
