I cleaned up my basement and digitized a bunch of old VHS tapes. This is my collection of old amateur recordings, off-air CBC hi-lights, and snippets from my career in television over the years. I have also pulled together a collection of old Studio Q episodes from 1990-94. It was the Queen's University student produced TV newscast I worked on while at school.

Reality Check Taxpayers Protection Act
Back in the early 60s Bill was the host of a daily TV show from Hamilton that had 2 puppets, an alligator and a dog. I laughed and laughed and laughed at that, but can't find any videos left on YT and I can't remember their names. They're on the tip of my tongue but it's buried in with Promo the Robot from WKBW's Rocketship 7, which had the greatest theme music of all time.
Congratulations congratulations to beautiful beautiful couple ❤
its like old school FB and its 3 days a week how lazy!!

Wait until the ideological PP conservatives get a ahold of ‘er.. they already hate Canada..
Here we are 33 years later and CBC today announces more cuts ,10 per cent of workforce, ending some programming as it faces $125M budget shortfall.
Gasss 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for all the great times during my childhood. Sunny skies follow him. RIP
RIP Bill
Bill raised his family in the same area of town where I grew up. He was friendly, quite funny and gregarious. It was such a tight community and he was good friends with my Mom. It is sad to see the last of this generation disappearing.
I remember seeing the marineland commercial in here
Nice! Do you have anymore CBC Undercurrents? I loved that show from the 90s.
I was thrilled to stumble upon this piece, which brought back fond memories of our time at Leger. As the person who took over from you for doing the morning announcements, I was particularly excited to see those old Leger days once again. I wanted to also express my gratitude for the co-op program, which helped me significantly as well. Through it, I was able to work at local theatres as a technician and ultimately pursue a successful career in Entertainment Production work. Today, I am proud to say that I Direct the technical team for a major cruise line. I am grateful for the positive impact that Leger had on our lives, and I wish you continued success in your endeavors.
From the US: Only a couple of years later, the CBC shows off the palatial new facility on Front Street. Craving that "new TV station smell", I drove from Central Illinois for a tour of the place, courtesy of SMPTE Toronto. For the record, I grew up in Rochester, NY which is a three hour drive to Toronto and all its big-city delights.

I loved this show with the Canadian Canadiana style
Have u uploaded all the episodes, all seasons, that you have? These are great. They are a great time capsule of Kingston and Queens.
My best friend, that's a great video. I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
I live downtown Brampton. I never knew it was that bad.
It sounds like the CBC was getting ready to cease all operations after this newscast
How come it was the final broadcast?
What a nice place I have never seen Any place like this
I watch Theodore until I was 7
Wow amazinh place😍 I want to go hereee
That is an abnormally large studio for a TV station that only did local news 2.5 hours a day.
When Bell didn’t ruin CP24
I think it's really interesting how even the CTV lead their broadcast with these cuts. Really goes to show the value the CBC had to Canadians at the time.
CTV? This seems to be _The National,_ I don't know why CTV is even in the title.
@@jeptioak the tape recording cuts to CTV National News at 43:49
@@jacnel Ah, sorry.
@@jeptioak no problem. It’s a long video and CTV comes in late
Ironically the programme "Monitor" would be advertised just before the same broadcast where it was announced it would be eliminated.
When we owned a farm there was a huge gumtree that was over 30 feet diameter across left in the bush on the property. It was too big for machinery to handle, so it was left and escaped the loggers chainsaws. It was deemed as one of the biggest mountain ash gumtrees in the area. If left gumtrees can be very big trees, but sadly most get chopped down for the mills. Those big redwoods are like the ones that grow in Western Australia. Yours grow much bigger, our jarrah ones are used for furniture mostly and building. It's much more expensive than the gum hard wood and treated PINE. yes, we must preserve the big redwoods as they could be lost for all time in the future.
Made a mistake, the mountain ash gumtree was 38 feet in circumference, not the 30 foot diameter as l put first down. Still that's a giant of a tree for the gum tree species.

Defend the CBC now.
R.I.P. Mark Dailey...BTW, CP24 is appearing on many TV providers outside of Toronto!

Consider Windsor’s only other option now is CTV2 Windsor since 1993. Now it’s just Monday to Friday 6 and 11pm while CBC Windsor is just 6pm half hour. Also for Calgary they only option back then is CTV and Global before CityTV came in from 1997. Ironically in 2006, CityTV shutdown everything but Breakfast Television outside Toronto but today it’s just evening newscasts while BT is now nearly nationally based like the former CTV Canada AM from 8:30-10am
Quite a shame what they did to CBET Windsor.
@@ChristopherSobieniak Agreed. I was able to get a tour through the Riverside Drive facility while I worked "across the river"...somehow, I kept hearing "See Kay Ell Double You" as I walked the halls.
@@WPM_in_ATL I bet. Only a shame CBC can't spring to give Windsor a little more love in their local productions, they could be as competitive as their big city brothers.
@@ChristopherSobieniak Windsor wasn't horrible but you could see the station was far from its glory days as CKLW AM/FM/TV. By the time I saw it the CBC had sold it and were leasing about 2/3 or 1/2 of it back.
@@WPM_in_ATL True, but I supposed they did their best with the situation.
I saw Star Wars there when I was 10.
Amazing place
Very nice sir
I remember Bill Lawrence from a show called "A Special Place". That was my favorite in 1968 - 1970? CHCH TV 11 Hamilton. The ending theme song lyrics: It's time to leave our Special Place, We hope that you had fun. We'll all be waiting here next time, There's fun for everyone.
Can't find a copy of that show anywhere! … and Bill did such a great job as host, warm, eloquent … a total pro
Thank God someone else remembers Special Place besides me. I love that show so much! I also remember the opening lyrics. (sung by Penny) Come along to a special place. A place that's filled with fun. Now gather here with all your friends. There's room for everyone. 😊

It's weird to think as even far back then, the CBC has had issues and people are still complaining now. They aded and removed local newscasts many times in many markets over the years. It's a matter of funding.
very nice
