Life is sure messy, and the people you meet along the way far from perfect. There’s no instructions and sometimes it’s just plain luck you make it through. And you find yourself feeling like you can push on. The actors and writers come together here and apply their skills, talents and craft.

I like movies about addiction/alcoholism. I'm a recovered alcoholic, and my husband is a recovered alcoholic/addict - and stories like these, whether they have a happy ending or not, always remind us what is waiting for us if we don't stay on the beam. Not Jim Beam. Though my brain goes there, of course. Once a pickle, never again a cucumber.

My favorite part is when you can't tell actors apart that are supposed to play siblings because people always mix up my sisters and I. I'm sure they play the brother duo well. :]

am I the only one who couldn't tell if the two boys were the sons, or if one was a son and the other his boyfriend? confusing trailer or just me?

I just finished watching this video. It was so beautiful. Not in a flashy way, but in a genuine way. This is not the kind of movie you want to see if you want something cinematic, but if you want a real portrait of what everyday life is for some people, you got it. My parents weren't drug addicts, but I know how these kids feel. I was put in the middle of situations where I was forced to grow up faster than I should have been. I did not know how it was like to be a child. To have the luxury of worrying about childish things. I could really feel the pain for these kids so deeply. It may just be because I'm different, but I can't imagine putting my own children through something like that. In the end, they did the right thing. The "right thing" looks different for everyone, but whatever it is, it's the best thing you can do. You can't force someone to get better. But you can push them to. I know because, while I never suffered from an addiction, I battled with depression. Because my parents were so abusive, I was lost in life. I stayed with a friend for a long time, but I wasn't getting better. It wasn't until my friend's mom took me to the hospital where I did. It was one of the hardest thing's I've done, but that was the best thing she ever did for me. I was in and out. Hospitalized for three times in total these past years. Whatever it takes, to get better. Sometimes, when you reach your lowest, the only way to go is up. When you fail, you try again. You keep trying, until you get it right. It was a lovely film. I wished I could say more. But that will be for another time.

First time hearing "parentified child", great term.

This movie looks gut wrenchingly sad and hopeless. However, just hearing an outsider point out that her mum thinks 'he's a parentified child' and the light of hope went on. Hope that any child growing up in this or a similar way can finally name the dynamic in their child-adult relationship with the present absent parent.

sometimes movie like this just reminds me of how much people out there dealing with things. Everytime i feel worse i think about another people on how much problems they had. I'm so excited to see the movie and wishing all the best and fighting for your lives everyone :)
