Lovely seeing all those hangies in the sky together.
Thank you. We quite often watch you chaps as we walk along the undercliff between Saltdean and Ovingdean.
I hope you've learned to control your glider by now. First of all you weren't weight shifting but head shifting to control roll, doesn't work. Second, set up you landing with a straight fast final through the wind gradient and burn off your energy while in ground effect.
I love revisiting this video. Amazing flight.
Kdo you have insurance for this type of flying?
Hi ,as all hang glider pilots must be a member of BHPA in the UK yes we a are only insured for third party.
so many awesome coastal sites over there, cant wait to go explore them
Please Remove This Video.
At this kind of wind speed, I highly recommend using a wire man on the nose. Ground loops can be painful, embarrassing and expensive!
Cool place to fly , nice flight 👌
🤙🤙🤙🤙
From the USA here, are those the "White cliffs of Dover" under you??? great cam resolution also, the city below you showed crisp and clear.. Just subbed...
Not quite, these cliffs are on the South Coast of UK beautiful part as you can see on the video,
@@Nikiforos59 👍👍👍
Yes they are .
Great video and audio work! So many other HG vids tend to keep the pilot in the viewfield most of the time. That gives us a view of the pilot when what we want is a pilot's view. With this video I really felt like I was up there flying like a bird and seeing what a bird would see. Also, nice not to have some kind of music, but just the sounds of the wind and the vario...more natural, more real.
Thank you very much for your nice comment
@@Nikiforos59 You're very welcome! I look forward to more like this one. I'm almost beginning to think that HG pilots are a bunch of narcissists, having to keep themselves in the viewfield all the time.
Fun to fallow in Google maps
Nice flight. Is the tidal range an issue before attempting this flight?
Yes definitely if the tide is in and the wind drop the only landing option is the water, you can fly only part of it basically where we take off and you can land on the beach below
Memories ☺
By the end when you turned the camera around I saw it that it’s an SS.
Were you flying a single surface? In the shadow your glider’s aspect ratio looked less and also I noticed few electric scooter guys rolling at your ground speed. The coastal wind though! Nice one mate.
Thanks mate that site is one of our club's best coastal site and its good to do on a floater it wil be safer incase you have to do a beach landing, Enjoy your flying 👍👍
lol, a bit of a hard landing.
Какие 25 миль в час, метров 12-15 в секунду не больше
Good start. There are unpleasant gusts of wind here. The main thing is not to let the Discus turn up his nose, he loves it. The maximum wind speed for a Discus start is 33 mph. Usually at 25 mph - an easy start without a run. I like this, if only the wind is laminar. It would be better if a colleague would held by the nose.
Ballsy, handling that wing alone without any crew with such high winds!

waouh la rue de cumulus c'est le grand voyage
I wouldn't take off or fly in 25 mph winds, you're asking for it. Good take of though. Cheers.
Nice top landing! I fly a Discus too. They are great wings!
... I’ve never launched in 20+ mph winds but even at 18 the glider wants to take me up with alarming speed. Even at 13,000’ with thin air.
Nice to see you back in the air again Nicos
Cheers Ken finely after six months,
25 mph is nothing try it up to 35mph gusty on the edge of carlton bank north yorkshire with 2 wing men and a nose man holding you down .lots of compression at the top so partly go down the face to take off and tighten the sail up take off in the lul of wind then up in the air and get blown back
Of course you'd be taken over the back....it'd be the parasitic drag your balls would be causing😂 be careful not to land on em😂😂
Who asked?
You dont know what you're talking about!
I think I'll stick with Airbus thanks🤔
the legends says that he is still flying in that same direction :P
And .... He never came back ... 😳 😂
Great flight and the video Nicos. Wish I was earlier on the hill that day...
Nice start- More like this.
Nicos, you captured the essence of that day perfectly!
Where’s this located
Hi there it's in East Sussex UK
Nice flying Nicos
Thank you Kenny, when are you going to fly again?
In high winds, let the hang strap go tight, will make it much easier to control the glider. Good job running
Good advice ,i must remember that, i agree with you thanks .
And then you can put your hands on the base bar too - while you are still on the ground, so that the wing is already flying and you are already in the best position to control it.
Mighty busy skies! Guess I'm an old school pilot, as I haven't seen those "spoilerons" previously. Of course, I also still fly a single-surface glider, my Olympus 180, but it still out-flies most other kites, wherever I fly. Owned it since '79, when I bought it new and have replaced the sail once ad the hardware twice, to be safe. The next sail replacement will be both more expensive and difficult, due to it nolonger being available from the defunct factory and a one-off creation for the sail maker I know, who will need to disassemble the current sail to replicate each panel. Years away, so I'm flying happily til then.
Hello! Would it possible to contact you regarding one of your videos i.e via mail? I would love to discuss a permission to use it if this is possible. Greetings!
why do people play music in videos that are showing you a engine performing ???????????part of the experience is hearing the engine sound..i know im not the only one who cant stand peoples stupid music
F the music off and a Look at the Cart , Good Otherwise
Speed is your friend
That’s what you get for listening to rap music 🤙🏻
Some close aircraft there, what are the rules/ etiquette when in a thermal?
Avoidance turns to the right. Same as the rules of the sea. If a glider is climbing up faster than you, from below, you should move aside and let them climb through but, in my experience, P/Gs never do and, as you climb up to them, you can have them sitting on your leading edge! You should strictly be doing right-hand 360s near take off (local rule) but sometimes the thermal is on your left, so you'd want to turn left initially, as long as you don't get in anyone's way. If it was a competition task, you could be disqualified for the left-hand 360s, seen at the start of this video, if the rule of the day was right-hand 360s near take off.
Bro you crazy that hurt me glad you ok.
Nicos, this move shows how mature pilot picks up any lift and climbs up while immature one mises most of that lift. Good to learn from you.
Rodger that you got to keep up your speed big time!
I think you had the best bit today Nicos! Awesome flight and thanks for the pick-up!
I was so pleased with that flight Dan I wished I flew longer,,it was definitely better when I took off the wind dropped and over develop which makes difficult to stay up .but at list you had some good practice good take off and landing.
Noisy music.
Respect for posting. Nice glider + harness colors.
Lol , have to admit , I do get a chuckle at these so called aviation experts ( See comments below ) .. All I want to say is ..... thanks for posting this vid , Yes it does help HG Pilots identify errors etc , Glad youre ok , that looked painful
