Somehow that hyperbolic statement about the handling is extremely doubtful. Like... You really haven't driven much to be making that statement about a yard kart with a SWINGARM of all things. I'm 75% sure that not only I could do better, but I could improve that design as it stands, too. I just don't have the tools, materials, money, or fabrication practice to turn my theoretical knowledge into practical application.

I think 20hp is perfect for a kart like this. i was thinking about making a crosskart in my garage and rebuilding an old pullstart honda ATC250 engine, having a machine shop bore and hone it. makes about the same 20hp as your build and is a horizontal motor that looks pretty similar. i build old honda dirtbikes and i want to stick to my roots if i build a kart like this. I like your design a lot because the engine is just in front of the rider who is nearly sitting just in front of the rear axle. I think this makes for a really stable weight distribution. What do you charge for a weld it yourself kit?

I like yours better than kj racing. I can weld it up in my garage. I really want the plans to this.

now imagine 250 2 stroke engine on this deathtrap... LOVE IT :D . since it has trailing arms and jackshaft, would be possible to make it IRS with drive on both sides independently with possible locker ( open-locked diff) on it? it would put stress on hub and axle, but adaptability to terrain would be immensely better.

Oh ya friend, that is awesome! I'd love a rolling chassis! I might want to choose a different powerplant, but maybe not as it looks like the one in there rips fast enough. I like the smaller size. So hard to travel with multiple single seaters because they are all so large.

How about the Honda CBR 250 or 300? This is a common Honda Grom engine swap so maybe a good fit for this application.

From what I have seen the 212 Zongshen ZA190 engine is not EPA or CARB approved. I can't even get it shipped to where I live. I would need another engine option, possibly Predator212 or another EPA CARB approved engine. I would build two if the engine situation could be figured out. With that exception a fantastic looking buggy!

Looks great in every aspect. I would recommend at least a chain guard and possibly a shroud around the top end to protect from burns. In AZ and other hot climates it could serve a dual purpose to shield heat off the driver as well. I can even Invision a flap of sorts to divert engine heat in the colder climates purposely for the driver.

I knew this was coming. Congrats on being the first to capitalize on the growing interest in crosskarts in the USA. First to offer a kit not just plans which in itself was a huge leg up for DIYers. I predict this is going to blow up. I cannot see much based on this video but i see enough to applaud you on the design. No rear drive spool or drive shafts but articulating rear axle suspension and a forward mounted motor thats a ??? possibly a 420cc predator with a few upgrades. Which would be a smart choice IMO for many reasons. I am sure it uses a cvt probably no reverse (would be nice but not a deal breaker, who races backwards anyway right lol) i have dealt with all models of Yerfdogs and Mancos and currently have about 50 in my shop for restoration. So many of them get hacked up by guys trying to obtain what you have created Even with the best mods and motor swaps they just don't cut the mustard performance wise. I also have 20 Joyners all the different models pre 2006 with everything from 600 gixer motors to 4cyl honda v-techs. Almost all of them have been modified by guys with obviously diverse skill levels. Only a few of them were ever finished and driven. They certainly present me with a challenge to complete but i enjoy it. I love all the content out there by the youtube bloggers especially the build videos. There is something to be learned in all of them and its become a community of sorts. Nice to also see all the collaborations taking place. I am in AZ i have my collection of sxs's but hands down for the money crosskarts are the goats for the ultimate off road driving experience here in the desert.
