Bastl Kastle Mutating Drone

I love discovering patches that seem to randomly morph on their own over time. Kind of hard to believe the sound from this tiny monophonic micro-synth. Audio was recorded clean, with no effects or equalization. (Though patches like this do sound even better with some reverb...) After making the video, I realized there's one patch cable that's not doing anything. Hint: It's one of the orange ones.

Technobeat with BitRanger and PO-12

Playing with the BitRanger from Bastl. Easily creates amazing sounds and sequences. Here, I've sync'd the LFO out to be the tempo control for the PO-12 rhythm drum machine from Teenage Engineering. With the way it's patched (on the BitRanger), the pattern changes notes over time, and even seems a bit random in that, but is always in sync with a 4-bar pattern. I've added this interesting device ...

    Love this Video..just got the Bitranger and i have other Micro Modular gear,,but i'm missing some drums...if i get the PO-12,,,is it really that easy to sync? i thought the jacks on the side of the Bitranger synced it...but you say your using a micro jack LFO? can you elaborate on this a little more? i just ordered the Pocket operator and should have sometimes this week....thanks for your support...also check out my channel..Latest Video is open box and Demo...

      One of the coolest things about all these micro synths are the myriad ways they can be connected and sync'd. You're correct that the sync port on the right side of the BitRanger is for synchronizing other stuff; I guess I just used the main output that day when I was messing around. Sometimes you can just plug and unplug stuff to see what happens! Have fun.

      @@robthedrummer5190 if you were to start patching and tweaking,,,would that effect the Rhythm tempo...i hooked mine up to the Clock on side and it worked great and the LFO controlled tempo ...Basic patching and tweaking was ok but one i got detailed and started to modify the LFO, the PO-12 went crazy...i wish there was a way to sync to BR and have it stay that way no matter how in depth the tweaking is....

    • @happycatfilms
      @happycatfilms 5 лет назад

      @@rhampton1914 I'm NOT an expert; as I understand it, the BR sync out is based on the LFO frequency (switchable between 1/2 and 1/32 of that frequency), so anything that alters the LFO frequency (like a reset or modulation) will then affect the sync output signal. I've made the downstream synced device (like the PO12) go nuts, too, that way. If you really want to maintain a 'master sync' then something else should serve as the master, with the BR and PO slaved to it. The BR has a clock input and the manual outlines this process pretty clearly.
