If you go back next time try Edna Aden university or Hargeisa or Burao universities which are located in the cities

Also about the compound looking like prison and the gaurds that's for the white people because the want to feel " safe " and also you know how the whites like to isolate them selfs. And they cannot mingle and integrate with the locals while respecting the culture and traditions of the country. So for us Somalis we prefer them to stay in their self made prison because at least they will not offend the locals if they think it's not safe for them to roam freely 😂😂😂 But i feel sorry for you sister because we have at least 40,000 other Africans and other nationalities aworking in the capital alone and no harm or even discomfort comes to them i wish someone would have told you this so you could immerse yourself in the culture and the food gone out and explored more of the country

Rest his soul. Unfortunately for the other young boy the arrest partially protects him, while nomad traditional law is exercised and while tempers are high. Nomadic people practice life for a life without intervention, if dialogue is given time traditional elders might be able to arrange compensation and resolve the matter which will prevent any retripution. All those who live near the University are blood relatives from the same clan, they will reach some solution. There appears to be a need for environment-fit training. The area is in a harsh setting with scarce resources, as a consequence the trees predominantely have thorns, the insects have a painful bite, even goats passive in other environments are aggressive. The campus is replicating values from elsewhere and the locals are traversing between two different environments. Where as arrivals from other environments are experiencing the interactions as cultures collide within the campus. I am sure the kids love your bright smile but go home to their thorny environments daily. Empathy is a given but sympathy takes its toll. Applaude you for the courage to educate, I would be cautious of imparting anything that can instigate disfranchisement from local norms. Expectations can easily be raised unfortunately cultures do not easily accomadate rapid changes. Edna Adan is an example of a hightened expectation in a slowly evolving culture, even stagnant norms. This observed over a 63year period, I don't know how she has kept her energy and smile. Every man would give the shirt of his back for her, yet all men but together have no power to alter the self preserving culture in place. She has found the recipe to work within it, with minimal friction. If Edna is not already part of the educators curriculum it is worth the consideration.
