Hi. I've just recently discovered your videos. I'm in Scotland, (Shetland actually) so not too far away! I've been considering line fishing with an under 10 meter vessel for some time now & was just wondering about your tub's you use for each line. The ones going through the auto baiter seem to shoot fine from the metal channels on the bin's but do the hand baited ones shoot ok straight from the bin? Also what size of hooks do you use & do you shoot with the ebbing tide? I've only ever inshore line fished with small lines in the past (not commercially) so any information You could give me would be greatly appreciated. Our you on that fishing boat alone if so ,,,,, for saftey I think you should go as two 👍🏻👍🏻little fish like that you must only get half a plate full. Some cod can grow to 22 pound in weight, they are codling baby’s

How many hooks did you drop? What's the equipment for the shoot and hauler in?

I used to long-line with my grandfather. We baited every hook by hand with cubes of fish before we set out. The line would be in a big wooden box with the hooks hanging all around the side.

It doesn’t make a difference. Bait is bait. By hand or machine. But. Hand baiting is slow. You can bait up while you set with the machine. Plus you can overhaul the gear as it comes in while you haul. I see that you boat is quite small. So you don’t have room for work stations for working on gear. Hence the tub gear. But on a bigger factory longliner, auto baiting is the way to go. I’ve personally worked with Marco and Mustad both. I prefer Marco with #7 full circle hooks. Mustad use to use semi circle hooks. With a much higher drop off rate.

Hello this was a great video thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you could do a video on your line type, hooks, where you go everything from etc. please keep posting it is interesting videos.

I could feel your frustration with the hauler.... bad luck came in 3, hauler, fish caught and boat broke down... you should be all clear... hopefully. Do the hooks just go straight into the bucket? I expected to see them loaded onto a magazine. What brand is the hauler and battery please? Want a closer look
