I remember being apart of Game Lab in 1997. I was on the front row with my family that Summer. The first row had to help stack and pass logs. It was fun to be apart of something. In another game, 3 of my Cousins had to be fake dogs and bark one was a ring tosser. My then younger cousin had to toss rings around one of my cousins that was the dog 😂. My other cousin was also some animal, but somehow was on another team. I’m glad this happens for me and my family. I’m 32 now and grateful to have been a 90s kid ✨💛.

acer3573 this comment is old.. and the video is even older. But I felt the need to let you know that both things you mentioned remain the same :) the refurbishments actually change very little, they mostly just add. I must say that the additions are distracting from the original 1960s Walt Disney ride experience however. I hated them at first, but I've come to realise that they do make the ride much more lively!

hey I was the kid in the striped hat lol wish they would have got the game we played before it cut and then to the kid getting slimmed. glad I could find some of that memory though, goes to show how useful the net can be.

@lilmamagc With interest in game shows having tanked (not just on Nickelodeon, but the whole genre in and of itself), the lack of visitors & kids wanting to be in the studio audience for existing shows, plus actors & other talent not wanting to move to Orlando, the situation became hopeless. Nickelodeon Studios had run its course and the network had no choice but to pull the plug.

@abehammy You're right! In the Slime Geyser, they used water with green food coloring, and in the Game Shows filmed in the facility, they used real slime.

When I was very little, I threw a tantrum about not wanting to go on this ride (I was scared to death of the hippo with the lazy eyelids). I wouldn't stop screaming about how I didn't want to go on the boats! And then the Cast Member who was helping us board said that all the kids that threw tantrums and made big fusses about riding It's a Small World were taken backstage and added to the ride. I haven't made a peep on that ride since, lol!

I didn't even know they closed it down until just a few minutes ago :( It was one of those places I always wanted to go see, closest I ever got was that 3D walk-through thing they had on the net or maybe on a disc, I can't really remember. Broke my heart to see it all bare and repainted.

This was the better version before they "Hollywoodized" it to make it fit the films. No more mayors being dunked or pirates chasing wenches, sad!

@Toonami198 It wasn't a case of Nickelodeon thinking that they would never do that type of program again. Actors wanted to stay in southern California. Without actors, Nickelodeon couldn't produce regular shows for the Orlando facility. The bulk of the television/entertainment industry is rooted in Hollywood. That's where the major studios and networks are found. There really isn't anything like that in the Orlando area.

I was in one of these games where it was the pizza tossing game. I was a volunteer and I was with some girl. I hope I can find it...

We would have gotten ya good, if you were the lucky kid. Sometimes we had a little too much slime for the final dumping and the 'volunteer' would get absolutely covered. Yes, they laughed just as much as we did. I think if you asked any of us about Game Lab (from the first cast), we would instantly get smiles on our faces thinking of that show.

I was lucky enough to be one of the original Game Lab crew in the early 90s. We had as much fun doing the show as you did participating. It's nice to hear you guys had a great time too. It really sucks it's gone. It was great for kids.

Nickelodeon Studios was built to stage game shows and comedies. Both of those formats fell out of favor in the very late 90's while dramas and animation (cartoons) became popular. Nickelodeon Studios was not built for those types of programs. Also, celebrities (needed to star in new shows) refused to move from Los Angeles to Orlando. Soon the difficult decision was made to move production to other facilities (mostly in California) and close Nickelodeon Studios.

I was there in 1995. Man I wish the good old times. I got my picture taken with doug and the rugrats. I have a picture of me sitting in THOSE BLEACHERS. LOL I also have a picture of me by an Eureeka's Castle Sign out side of the studios, Anyone remember that sign??? Good Times.
