So basically. You need at least two premises to make a conclusion. You can't only have one premise to make an argument have a conclusion. So really, it is Premise Premise Conclusion.

This is controversial. There is no reason to think that you cannot have only one premise. If the premise suffices as support for the conclusion, I think this would still count as an argument

Dr. Charlatan has a PHD in medicinal knowledge. He said that if we buy his elixir all our health problems will be gone. Therefore, it is very likely that his elixir will heal our health problems.

To the topic of appeal to authority: I Think I heared, and think myself the oposite of what was said here, the appeal to authority is not a valid argument, but more like a fallacy.

i was hoping for an exploration of how to determine if something is relevant or not. given a problem, of all the information in the universe what facts may apply to the problem? is there some sort of metric for it?

Oof, 5 years later... I hope I get a reply. Are sentences in the future tense statements? As being about events that take place in the future, can they really have a truth value? I'm searching like crazy to find some good book that talks about this but can't yet find anything!
