Persona 2 Eternal Punishment is an underrated masterpiece.

An analysis, pseudo-review, and a story of how I fell in love with Persona. In this video I analyze the characters, themes, gameplay, and art of Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. I wanted to make a video essay on how Persona 2 changed my life and how it changed my view on video games as a whole. All love to Megaten, Atlus, and the developers of this game. This video contains major spoilers for Pers...

A PS1 game as never made my cry before playing EP. Even Innocent Sin made me bawl. Truly breathtaking experiences, and Eternal Punishment is the greatest JRPG i have ever played in my life to this day.
ma me no kakera every story is good and absolutely peak ssome stories so amazing horror manga
so happy to find this, great video. Was searching around after more music by Yoshiko and found this.
genuinely one of the greatest series ever.
I usually play horror music when reading Junji Ito manga to fit the mood. But for some divine reason, I just happened to be playing sad anime music while reading this. And holy shit did the tears flow. The fact that it was so unexpected from an Ito story just compounded the feeling.
♡
100% Junji Ito's saddest story
i genuinely am in love with her music, i first discovered her through taiji no yume like most people but the rest of her discography is absolutely god-tier. my personal favorite album is mikkou!
Good vid but plsss fix ur mic
i absolutely love her works and im glad someone's talking about them! a lot of her music is underappreciated, so im happy to see other people that also enjoy her music!
Great video 👍👍 I agree Taiji no yume is her best album with such an amazing line-up of songs. Aoi garasu dama is one of my favourite songs of all time
someone please tell me where to find crimson voyage ive listened to everything from yoshiko except this
Perhaps you've found it already but it should be on RUclips by now, just search for it.
Here's the most recent build of the PSP fan translation: ruclips.net/video/02IyNHfu9Lk/видео.html
IT Was so FUCKING GOOD? I GOT IT ON MY PS3 like 10 years ago and only just now played it and It's?? Among their best titles???? It's literally borderline their best work, keeping machines in mind?????
I remember discovering this eerie force during the start of the pandemic. Her music is impeccable, and I'm pleasantly surprised to see someone actually talking about it in the video
they summoning persona's like stands in jojo do a pose and your stand/persona comes out
I agree on your video and I also STRONGLY say that people can like and enjoy both! I started with Eternal Punishment, then I found Innocent Sin, it was confusing, then I played Innocent Sin then Eternal Punishment and the references of EP made a LOT more sense!
I really love her music. She has something different from any other Japanese singer that gets me attached to her even after almost a year to know her, repeating the albums over and over again without getting tired of it. Actually, I have made translations of her songs.
This is a really heartfelt video, thank you
Maya Amano is an underrated masterpiece
When people say "persona 3 has the best story" you know they haven't played both persona 2
Why people even say that?Persona 3 plot contains many holes.
@@hershellayton487 If I may ask,what are those plot-holes?
@@anxhelovucinaj1576 For example, why Ikutsuki and Mitsuru's father are not asleep during dark hour if they don't have personas?
@@hershellayton487 That's actually a very good point I didn't think about that
Another mythology reference was that Delos, the island that Asteria became, was the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. This symbolises that even if disgraced, Ulala still supports Maya. The mythology and astrology references in both P2 are so well done it puts the rest of the series to shame.
It’s BETTER than modern Personas.
🤣😂 it's hilarious that your friend recommend to you to play persona 3 then you ignore him start to play Persona 2 Innocent sins, What the madlad move , your are true gamer of culture just like I do for me persona 2 is always be close to my heart after SMT persona 4 PS2 , because P4 was my first game and it changed my life completely just like Persona 2 Innocent sins did for me , where it teach you " you are responsible to every action you have done entire game , (when you slap to Philemon in persona 2 IS) I have already well know about story about Persona 2 EP, But I want to play PSP version which have extra content story , I want to experience that game , but language barrier prevent me to play the game ......
You know...the reason why Persona 2 was good isnt because of one game or the other. Its because the entire story was told through two games, Innocent Sin AND Eternal Punishment. The games dont work without the other. So instead of picking a side, I love both as that is how Persona 2 was meant to be experienced
Exactly! We may have our preference over which game we like better, both games add up to make an unforgettable experience.
This was a nice video. P2 Duology doesn't get enough love tbh. The music kinda drowns your voice out in some sections though.
I think a lot of people take for granted how many elements Persona 5 brought back from the original three games (1, IS and EP). You've got demon negotiations, guns in general, fighting personas instead of shadows (minus the bosses, but those make sense in the original lore because there were shadow versions of the characters). I mean, they even brought back nuclear damage! And the whole rumor/sub-conscious affecting the journey, like with Morgana being able to turn into a car thanks to My Neighbor Totoro. I think people should respect the old games more, not because they're old, but because they're forgotten when you have three shiny newer entries that are easier to get into. People like to talk about how impossible Persona 3 is without being able to control your party, but this is a whole different level of planning. Seriously, if not the first game, the two Persona 2 games should at least be played.
Man i wanna play this so bad i just dont wanna buy a psp cz its only going to be used for one game lol
You know you can play it in PC and Android with PPSSPP right?
@@danielmayonaka8818 you know any links?
@@jonm8164 Playstore, google, there's A LOT of places where you can download it
@@danielmayonaka8818 is it possible to get it on iPhone i don’t have my android anymore
@@jonm8164 Damn.....i get that Iphone can't install apk from outside of appstore..... did you check if appears in your store?
Underrated? More like unpopular. Sometimes I get the impression that classic persona fans just hate on new persona fans out of jealousy because atlus doesn't acknowledge classic persona games. Which makes no freaking sense
but, atlus finally did in 25th anniversary

i just couldnt understand the plot, so many names like tatsuya tatsuo tatsuya sudou
I just finished my first playthrough of EP and all I'm gonna say is it was pretty great but I still prefer Innocent sin P4 and P5R it's better then p1 and p3 doe
Thanks for the recommendation I'm just loving her tunes
Persona 2, one of my fav games Uzumaki, one of my fav mangas Dude, you got yourself a sub <3
loved the video. I feel the same way about kaneko's art, its such a unique style that we dont often see in the medium. Its what draws me to these games the most.
YES! Both IS and EP were absolute magic. I miss when Persona was deep like this instead of a highschool dating sim like we have now. That intro song! Such feels and nostalgia
Finally someone said it!!!
Man your channel are underatted as hell
Nice
I really enjoyed this (your audio gets nerfed at the end which is odd though haha). I saw the snicketyslice videos first but i enjoyed your take!
How do I emulate it
With PPSSPP
The problem is not that Eternal punishment is bad. Is that it is not better than Innocent Sin
I liked it better than IS lol
This is such a great analysis, especially your personal experience of the game. It's great to hear other people's story.😊
Great video dude. I’d also recommend you to listen to Ringo Sheena if you haven’t already, some of her music seems right up your alley :)
Thanks Nathan. I already do listen to Ringo Sheena btw
@@mujimuji6590 eyy that’s pog
Excelente vídeo. Cómo me gustaría que Atlus le de una oportunidad a Persona 1 y a Persona 2 IS y EP... Saludos desde México.

Butterfly effect moment
Really happy to see more love given to my favorite game of all time. Just finished a playthrough of it on PSP even though it wasn't translated because I wanted to see what hard mode could do and the bonus content.
Your channel is painfully underrated, this video is amazing
Know what i missed entirely from the P1 cast showing up at the end; they left off Tamaki, Toro and Ayase both, even if Toro was mostly a side rumor spreader like the Kuzonoha duo. was just fun additions that got left out too.
