Mount Lawson - Summit Scramble
I decided to head up Mount Lawson for a late season scramble. Note that there is a good trail to bypass the waterfalls on the right side up the gully. I chose to do some exploring & optional scrambling with very loose rock & exposed 5th class sections. The rock quality is horrible on every part of this mountain so check every hold if you ever tackle this route. Other than the loose rock, scree & snow the views were great! First two songs are Great Hunger & Nebula by Goblyns. Third song is Push by Apollo Brown.

Stuart Knob - Television Peak Scramble
Просмотров 2134 месяца назад
Over the years traveling below on the Trans Canada Highway I've looked up at Stuart Knob, also while doing Castle Mountain & Helena Ridge. Finally I decided to get up there & in Larch Season was the prime time to do it & Television Peak. Mostly it's just a very long hike with a few scrambling sections. Definitely very scenic throughout the trip. Unfortunately my route down from TV peak was cove...
Mount Burstall - Summit Scramble

Short hike & scramble on this one. On a day I was lacking energy, this was the perfect mountain as it only took me 6 hours. Scrambling was fun once you reach the ridge, up the corner slab up to the summit. Fantastic views with great weather. Song is Muti by Goblyns.
Wapta Mountain - Summit Scramble

This peak was near the top of my list for scrambles to do this year. Magnus and I have been talking about this one for a while now. We did Mt Edith together with our friend Aibert for our first peak & decided that it was time to attempt Wapta. The trail is outstanding all the way to Yoho Lake & up Burgess trail to reach the gully. We slogged up the right side of this gully, through a few cliff ...
Mount Bell - Summit Scramble

Most of this video is describing the route to reach the scrambling on Mount Bell. A very long approach takes most of the time with minimal scrambling. A beautiful hike for most the day with pleasant scenery. Song is 13 Ghosts II by Nine Inch Nails.
Mount Ogden - Summit Scramble

This is another mountain that I've wanted to scramble for a long time. The conditions were perfect on this day, the scrambling was great & as on most mountains, the views were stellar. I was able to scope out quite a few peaks in the area for future adventures & visit Sherbrooke Lake for the first time, which was a real stunner. Songs are Brea & Silver Lining by Oddisee.

This one is pretty straight forward, just a slog. Happy to finish the scrambles that surround the Chester Lake area. song is Into the Fog by The Budos Band.
Fisher Peak - Summit Scramble

Another big peak & a very long day. You can bike the first 7 kilometers, but we hiked instead which adds a few extra hours. Took us 16 hours but it was well worth it. A long approach, hike through forest to make the ridge, reach the crux & down climb your way to the summit sums up the trip. Lots of exposure but good holds where you need the rock to be solid. Thanks to Andrew & Polly for the inv...
Warrior Mountain - Mt. Cordonnier Traverse

This is a very long day if you don't camp at either Aster or Northover lakes. This is an easy ascent with very short glacier travel, and some narrow, exposed sections of the ridge being the exception. This was my last two scrambles in the Aster Lake area. First song is Healing by Ian Ewing. Second song is Warrior by Mark Isham. Third song is Life by Thomas Tempest.
Kiwetinok - Pollinger - McArthur (Traverse in The Storm)

Started early for this 3 peak traverse. Actually it's been 3 weeks in a row that I've done a 3 peak day. Takes over 9 kilometers to reach Little Yoho Campground from Tkakkaw Falls where I started. From the campground I hiked up to Kiwetinok Lake where I began my ascent up the peak with the same name. Exposed scrambling with loose rock on ledges sums up the ascent up Kiwetinok Peak. When I was n...
Mount Edith (3 Peak Scramble)
Просмотров 5546 месяцев назад
Magnus, Aibert & I set out to scramble all three peaks of Mount Edith. There was little wildfire smoke & the weather was cool after a heat wave that lasted for a few weeks. We headed up Cory Pass on a perfect trail, had a nice nice break up at the gargoyles before heading to the North peak & true summit. We met some guys visiting from Minnesota which was awesome & I squeezed my way through the ...
Mount Richardson - Pika Peak - Ptarmigan Peak Traverse

Huge day in Skoki! This was my first time visiting this beautiful area. Conditions were great, just a bit smoky, but it wasn't too bad. This is a tough traverse as you need to be in shape, be mentally strong along with having great stamina. Note that Richardson & Ptarmigan are Moderate Scrambles while Pika is rated difficult. This brings me up to 100 peaks of Alan Kane's Scrambles in the Canadi...

Utopia Mountain looked good to go from Miette Hot Springs so I decided to go for it. A very enjoyable ascent with difficult to moderate scrambling. Minimal snow and most could be avoided. Mount Robson was even visible on this bluebird day. Song is A Little Soul by Pete Rock.

Hawkins Horseshoe Loop (Blakiston - Hawkins - Lineham)
I solo climbed this year's ago. Went up the snow slope in the gulley. Pretty straightforward climb.
Great video, amazing sights and landscapes, beautiful, yet awe inspiring. However, I have notice the pronunciation of the mountain's name is incorrect. This oronym, i.e., the mountain's comes from the Serbian language because the mountain was named after Radomir Putnik, the famous Serbian field marshal from WWI. His last name should be pronounced as "pootnik". Besides being his last name, it is also a regular word in Serbian whose literal meaning is "traveler". "Put" means "road", so "putnik" is the one who is on road, i.e. the one who travels.
100 Kane scrambles? Bravo! :)
Wow. That is beautiful. I had never gotten close to a Saw Whet, until now.
Would be interested to hear what the other 4 of the bottom 5 are, and the top 5 as well 😊
She’s a “one & done” for me. I call her “Mt Crumbly”. It’s a wonder it’s still standing.
Very nice!
Has been on the bucket list for some time, but I feel I may just do it via Little Lawson now. That rock looked truly terrible. Great video as always though!
It’s nice to see that you can still get some scrambles in even in October
It was actually September 28th, but I just did Mount Lawson so very late in the season. Snow is coming
Bravo 👏🏼 I can’t wait to do this too. Thanks for a wonderful video 👍🏼
Scrambling loose stuff with ski poles, not a good idea.
Anklebiter, what a name for a mountain, lol.
Ever since completing Castle, I’ve always wanted to do this trio, while adding TV Peak, Protection Mountain, and Armor Peak as part of a traverse. I always hike solo, so this has not been possible (to do comfortably). Somehow I always miss you out there. I love watching your videos, as I am local and interested in completing all the scrambles in Alan Kane’s book, and more. Completed 24 summits in September alone. My summer was focused on the GDT, which unfortunately had to stop in Field due to fires this year. That said, mountains and scrambles are where my heart is at. I love watching your stuff. Maybe one day, our paths will cross and I will meet Logan the legend himself. I’m curious if you will ever start to tackle the many classic climbing routes in our mountains, and what you would be capable if you had a rope for rappels. Seems like the logical progression to keep someone like you engaged and entertained. Please, stay safe out there!
Just curious, but the NE ridge of Bell did not appeal to you? It’s a 5.3 route that is often done as an alternative to the scramble routes, and I hear it’s a blast. I feel like you’ve done more difficult/sketchier routes.
To be honest, I didn’t do much research on the peak. The day before I scrambled Mount Ogden & just looked in Kane’s book after & made the decision to do Mount Bell. I didn’t realize you could do the NE ridge as a scramble till later. Wish I had taken that route up as it would have made for a shorter, and more enjoyable day.
Nice as always Logan! I need to head back up there again as I've only done Castle and didn't tag the other peaks.
Wonderful stuff, you are inspiration...
I have no idea why, but the sound of cows moo-ing makes me giggle lol
2:44 weird yes, but now I won't be able to unsee it, LOL. All those zombies running up Paradise Valley to Sentinel Pass
6:40 nothing quite as enjoyable as a glissade early season. Even better on a 20C sunny day in June though ;)
What a fun looking scramble! And your grandparents are certainly proud of you!

you are machine dude
_Mount Burstall, what a climb! Your video is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your adventure._

Nice job.would u think 2 more weeks larch ll be bloom? Thx you!
This upcoming week or next week for sure
I can't wait for winter...
This is definitely on my list, trying to decide if I do this one or Coleman next, when back up around this area
@@patrickcarleton1073 both are incredible. You should do both for sure, but Sarbach is the better scramble in my opinion. It’s in my top 10 for sure
1:32 - Call me crazy, but some foreshortened route-finding here leads me to believe you could probably attack weaknesses in those rockbands and not have to descend all the way to the pond.
@@patrickcarleton1073 maybe?
@@RockyMountainMan372 Hope I can give it a try sometime. I would go down to the col then up the easy terrain until the first real rockband obstacle. Traverse climbers left to find a weakness. Below the thickest rockband traverse the ledge all the way to rendezvous with the 'normal route' on the ridge and go up from there.
5:35 LOL!!
keep the videos coming dude we are watching, they are very helpful thanks, logan
Keep on the videos ! I watch them all, they are great. Did chester, gusty and fortress all in a big day last year. Was a bit of a slog by the end
Great video Logan ! I just came across your profile and watched a couple of videos. Subscribed now. Thanks for sharing the beauty of the Rockies with us sitting here in Ontario😊 And I can only imagine the thrill you would have experienced seeing a Wolverine in the wilderness 😍🔥🔥 I'm so jealous lol 😅 Btw, saw your other video too where you got to see another Wolverine !! You'd probably one of those very very few people who would have been so lucky to have seen a Wolverine twice!! Amazing ! Congratulations on those sightings🎉
Great video but that is nuts, I will stick to the forest at the bottom . I have stood at rawson many times and wondered if any one had climbed that peak now I know.
Thanks for a great video! We were able to do it this past weekend. What a beautiful place.
Beautiful, well done Logan! Love a good difficult scramble; made difficult by an exposed ridge with good hand holds, etc You're right in my element right there.
@@patrickcarleton1073 it’s a fun one!
_The footage of your Mount Ogden summit scramble ia truly awe-inspiring. Your determination and skill are evident troughout the video, and the stunning scenery is a testament to the beauty of nature. Thank you for sharing this incredible glimpse with us._

2:00 At age 43 I have had my fair share of mistakes on mountain scrambles for sure! Some very near misses to where a painful slip is just that and not fatal.

Great video Logan. We did gusty in from Chester lake and then the fortress and back out through Chester again. Gusty is sure a slog you’re right. I do enjoy your videos and get some beta as well!

The way the hikers talked about the snow, I thought there would be much more than that!
Love those Buller slabs!

I'm rather ashamed to say I've never been to Waterton. Grew up in Calgary (1980-2005) then Vancouver and Japan life until coming back in 2017. Perhaps 2025. I have done Banff, little bit Yoho, Jasper and Kootenay Ntl parks, plus TONS of Kananaskis (my favorite) and Crowsnest Pass. Can't believe I never made it down to Waterton.
@@patrickcarleton1073 you’re missing out! It’s so beautiful down there
Nice video - would have been to cover/focus on key elements of the route a little more. Which trail did you follow (ex Alltrails)? Or just wing it on follow sparse markers? And how was the descent?
