This is great!
Miss seeing you on the screen , you're the best
Hello John, thank you so much for posting, I have watched a number of your clips and loved them all. Thank you for the 2003 documentary too, please pass on our condolences to Bobby Driessen’s family too, Bobby, Julie and Juanita and Ross (the music director) are up in the sky together and Bobby will be performing with his idol Elvis. He was so good at Elvis. I even watched episode 1 in 1971 on RUclips and loved it. Thank you once again.
He looks really good for his age. Unlike nearly all of the other YTT boys he got better looking in his 20s.
Thanks Ray. I'm turning grey! But I like it.
Gorgeous ... and so clever
You are one of the most beautiful gay singers in the world John.💓
What boys did you have a crush on during the show?
None. We were really like family.
John, you are an amazing storyteller through music. Your voice is beautiful. I could listen to you sing all day. This is such a beautiful song. I loved the YTT 50 year reunion. I’m sorry you weren’t able to be there in person, but I could think of way worse places to be stuck than gorgeous Paris. I wasn’t born until the 80’s but I could have listened to you talk to John Young for the entire 3 hours. What an amazing start YTT was for so many people. Not only were you all very talented entertainers but also a group of genuinely lovely people. ♥️
Absolutely beautiful - your voice, the guitar and the choice of song. Keeping this.
This is lovely, John!
John, Your voice says how deeply you feel for this song and its lyrics. Ms. Carole King would be pleased with your arrangement. Mr. Didier Carmier’s accompaniment is just beautiful. Thank you for a heartfelt rendition. Truly special. 💖
Beautiful John!
This is great
Beautiful song beautifully sung. Thx John
Wonderful. 😁
Beautiful John!
My Nan just adored you John, I can still hear her saying wheres my favourite boy.
So very beautiful!
Simply beautiful, written from the heart
Wonderful work, John! Lovely to work with you on this, and to hear Rex Goh again.
Beautiful voice
Thanks for posting this. Was the Adelaide morning show on TV or radio?
I remember the editions of YTT Mk.2 from 2012 but this is the FIRST time I've seen this interview with John Bowles. John headed his own production company in 2001 which produced the special, "Young Talent Time Tells All" which interviewed ALMOST all of the former team members and got some progressions slightly wrong. The interviews he missed out on were Vicki Broughton, Trevor Hindmarch and Derek Redfern, and the progression he got wrong was when he inferred that Derek was the direct replacement for Jamie when, in fact it was Trevor Hindmarch who took over from Jamie Redfern in 1972 while Derek replaced Rod Kirkham in 1973, and cute little Sally Boyden replaced Vicki Broughton that same year.
@Neil Forbes I hope this helps List of team members 1971-1988 Rod Kirkham[7] (1971-73) Vikki Broughton[8] (1971-73);first act to be signed) Phillip Gould[9] (1971-75; 1975-76) Debra Byrne (1971-75) Jamie Redfern (1971-72) Jane Scali[10] (1971-76) Greg Mills[11] (1971-75) Julie Ryles[12] (1971-75) Trevor Hindmarch[13] (1972-77) Sally Boyden (1973-76) Derek Redfern (1973-76) Karen Knowles (1975-80) Steven Zammit (1975-80) Debbie Hancock (1975-78; 1979) Robert McCullough (1976-79) Nicole Cooper (1976-81) John(ny) Bowles (1977-81) Tina Arena (1974/1977-83; longest-serving cast member) Bobby Driessen (1979-83) Jodie Loebert (1980-83) Joe(y) Perrone[14] (1980-84) Michael Campbell (1981-83) Karen Dunkerton[15] (1981-85) Katie Van Ree[16] (1981-86; 1987) Mark McCormack (1982-83) Danielle Minogue (1982-88; 1988) Vince Del Tito (1983-88) Beven Addinsall (1983-88; 1988)[ Vanessa Windsor (1983-87) Greg Poynton (1984-88) Lorena Novoa (1984-87; 1988) Tim Nelson (1984-87) Natalie Miller (1985-88) Mark Stevens (1985-88) - later became a vocalist and songwriter with Hillsong Church; currently serving as worship pastor at Abundant Life Church in Bradford, England Courtney Compagnino (1986-88) Juanita Coco (1987-88) Joey Dee (1987-88) Rikki Arnot (1987-88) Jamie Churchill (1988) Johnnie Nuich (1988) Keith Williams (1988; shortest serving cast member)
@so the 1971 originals were all gone by 1977
@@top40researcher31 Rod Kirkham and Vicki Broughton bowed out after 1972 to be replaced by Derek Redfern(Jamie's brother) and Sally Boyden. Trevor Hindmarch, Greg Mills and Julie Ryles weren't original members as Mills and Ryles joined the show late in 1971 when the show was about to go national. Hindmarch was Jamie Redfern's replacement at the beginning of 1972. I'd guess that the first and second generation of recruits to YTT had gone by end of 1976.
@@neilforbes416 well i was a year out
Wow, how cool, I haven't seen him since he was on young talent time as little John hosted by none other than the legendary Johnny Young! I'm so glad to see he has done well for himself like Tiny Tina, Tiny Tina, and Little John! lol what a team back in the day
Wow, he sounds like John Denver
I liked hearing these memories. It is a shame that the 2012 reboot of YTT did not last. TV today seems so mean spirited, and cynical.
I remember working with John in the 1985-86 inaugural run of the Solid Gold Show when I was Musical Director at Australia's Wonderland. Top guy to work with and I wish him well.
Truly enjoyed this. One I my favorite songs, and this is one of my favorites, . Thank you John Bowles.
Trevor Ashley is a very talented performer - seeing him recently in Liza,s back is broken . He is at the top of the game - the voice , the comic delivery , the consummate performer is just TERRIFIC !!!
Beautiful John. Love those soaring high notes. Peters songs are so honest.
Thank you for this. I have developed such a man crush on Mr. Boys. He's everything that young people today should strive to be
Such a huge talent.
I express my sympathy to all sincere Mormons throughout the world. This production lacked the least bit of respect for this faith. The individuals I have known in my life who are Mormons are among the kindest people I have ever met.
Thank you for saying that so well and I agree with your sentiment. I don't know why but there's a current trend in entertainment for a "nothing is sacred" attitude toward anything religious or anybody who is religious. It's permeated even into commercials you see on TV. Besides South Park and others there is a belief that their crassness, juvenility and vulgarity is somehow "good and noble" and that they are providing some needed sociological service.
Stop being so uptight. I'm Jewish and I still laugh at funny jokes about my faith.
+NelsonClick it's a total indictment and mockery of the Mormon religion.
I think you might have missed the point of the show.
Nothing IS sacred. God is you, what you believe to be you and your soul. Religion is made up by man to brainwash your godliness into all forms of evil. The Book of Mormon is right -- believe in the righteousness of existence and survival, not for capitalism and profit. The fact that you have to pay 10% of your life's earnings to be Mormon says it ALL.
Fantastic Rachel, I hope we get a chance to come and see you do this. Fiona. x
so lucky to have been there!! amazing show... I had tears!
What is NOT to love about Daniel?
Exactly. One talented, handsome (yes you are Daniel) obviously caring and fabulous guy. So glad I discovered you via Nativity Rocks
Many of the truly great costumes came from Debbie Reynolds' extensive collection that she auctioned off some years ago, specifically, the Marilyn Monroe white subway dress.
All of your video casts are done with such generous love for live entertainment! Keep it up! I absolutely CAN NOT F#*#*King believe that no one else is saying how great your interviews are. Thanks for posting! You might enjoy discovering these forgotten B'way shows: "FADE OUT FADE IN", "SUBWAYS ARE FOR SLEEPING". They are very American and no one does anything from them. You could do "My Fortune is My Face" from "Fade Out" and do it in a delightfully funny way! The CDs are often on ebay.
Are you sure you're not an American Songster boy disguised as an Englishman? You could perform in the USA and reteach the youngsters how to do Broadway!
I would pay the price of admission to hear your review in person... so lovingly done for a somewhat forgotten show... and YES... the lyrics are very, very good. AJL had a real gift... and this show is doubly complicated since it is done in two periods and requires a strong chorus of singers and some dancing. I had the LP for a long time, but only recently bought the remastered Broadway recording to rediscovered its beauty. I also read the orig New York Times review, and it was brutally cruel.
Hi john I'm a presenter of a show on RTRFM 92.1 called "Nostalgia" is there any chance you could record a sweeper on an iPhone as a memo and email it to me? Thanks Sheridan
Hi Sheridan... I never saw this. I'm sorry not to have responded. I hope you are well. JB
He look good
Fellow Melburnian who thinks John Bowles is something.
Loved listening to johns memories of being on young talent time and part of Australian television history. I loved the "fame" clip with glimpses of Michael and Nicole too.
A further facet to the skills of the multi talented PERFORMER - Mr John Bowles, Now as 'Stage Door Johnny' he gives a commendable review and interview with the associates of the theatre production of 'Singing In The Rain'.
All work and no play makes Jack (John) a dull boy. Re the V&A, did you visit the Cast Gallery, well worth spending an hour, particularly if you appreciate the fine form of Kelvin Coe, RIP.
"If music be the food of Love" then what a banquet you have provided. See Mr Bowles, persistence is rewarded, note how your You Tube fan base is growing.
Ah ! What dulcet tones delivered from such a handsome singer. Yes fellow viewers, COP the lush eyebrows and cute dimples.
The Herald Angels would be enraptured by this performance, as am I.
I have only just discovered this guy through watching him play "Hero" in Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. He is the best Hero I have seen
