Impressive to watch the construction but the end result is the death of many of our wildlife. God didn't create the earth to have man kill the beautiful children of nature. How many nests & burrows were destroyed by the bulldozers? How many large birds will be killed by the blades of the turbines?

Luckily I gave up catching trains to work in a morning about 11 years ago and got on my bike instead, so I missed when this happened - BUT - for the first time in a long time I took a walk alongside the Dane yesterday and have to admit that our old friend the viaduct is looking better than she has in a long time...... just wish the fields around her weren't so muddy :.)

I DROVE LORRY'S FOR MURPHY, KENTISH TOWN, IN THE 90s , MY NAME IS CHRISTOPHER STACEY, I EVEN DELIVERED STUFF TO MURPHYS HOUSE WAS ALL THE TREES OR BUSHES, AND I MET HIS WIFE AT THE HOUSE LOVELY LADY. ( I WAS PICKED TO DELIVER AND HELP WITH THE BUSHES AND TREES BECAUSE I WAS ONE OF THE BEST DRIVERS. HAHA.

I jus got done hauling a crawler like this. I got to see the entire machine at work prior to loading crawler. The jobsite wasn't done when I arrived. After they finished, we loaded crawler the same day & moved it to another. Totally amazing as to how fast this machine can trench, lay pipe & backfill at the same time. A roller will follow machine & flatten piles of dirt left behind. The entire process is unbelievable. After they're finished & the grass has grown back over, ya can't even tell that there's a pipe in the ground.

Nice job. Perhaps you could present a business case to re-engineer the too narrow Somerhill tunnel south of Tonbridge, currently a bottleneck!

I used to play in those tunnels as a kid. Locally they are known as 'windys.

I dont understand why there is a tunnel insread of to bridges, looks to me like a waste of labour and money.
