2022 Renegade Vienna RV Repair The Fix Is In QD 3200
This is the Renegade Vienna ownership experience. Having placed the order in December of 2020, then waiting eight months for delivery we did not expect there would be so many serious issues. Like anything mechanical things will pop up from time to time, this RV seemed to be "popping" most of the time. If / when the issues get resolved it will be a very useful piece of equipment.

This is exactly what happened to us with our Vienna and it was a very frustrating experience. The Cummins generator worked fine when removed but failed when reinstalled. We felt it was a fuel issue but Renegade was not the best in helping us with this. We felt that Cummins were wanting to blame it on Renegade or Mercedes as a fuel issue. A tech installed a value to improve fuel flow and that helped in the shop but was not consistent. It’s working consistently now two years later but honestly we’re not sure why. We felt Renegade failed us in dealing with this. They left us in a very stressful situation trying to deal with this and I was very disappointed with them.

We own a 2022 Renegade Vienna, will not buy another Renegade. Customer Service is horrible during our first year trying to work through all the issues. Same Generator, similar fuel issues still unresolved. If you are not a DIY handy person, don't buy an RV because you are on your own to resolve a lot of issues since the dealers and manufacturers do not stand behind their products even while under warranty.
I can’t help but feel like this is just how the entire RV industry is! I also bought what’s considered a “higher grade” RV, I bought a Tiffin Wayfarer & haven’t quite had your nightmare, but a different version & had NO idea how easy it is for these dealers to lie lie lie, without blinking an eye! The lack of customer service for spending so much money on something is unbelievable! Like you said with your 30k camera you had a technician flying to you immediately to remedy the problem! That’s an amazing response for the quality you were paying for, one we surely would appreciate when dumping a pike of cash on an RV. I’m still trying to get my brand new Tiffin up to where it should have been when I purchased it last July! There are lemon laws for RV’S too, I haven’t pursued this yet, but I am tired of these dealers getting away with this BS! At least Mercedes still gives excellent customer service, I’m with you on that one! It would just be nice if the house portion of the RV matched the Mercedes portion in service, it’s just such a good feeling driving into my Mercedes dealer knowing everything will be taken care of as it should.

Renegade was on the short list of RVs we are considering and was about to head down to the dealer again this week. I fully understand RVs have problems but that incompetent level of service is not something I want to deal with. The list is shorter now that Renegade is off the list.

Why in the holy F balls is the RV industry so bad? Everyone is now just conditioned to expect a whole bunch of problems on brand new products and losing weeks to months sometimes years of their ownership to sitting and waiting on warranty claims. Dammit renegade I thought you were one of the few that were at least better than even odds to have no problems or run arounds. I’m just about ready to give up my future plans. I’m not gonna spend $200,000 or more for even a 10% chance of a headache like this. Holy crap. This is depressing.
Wow, I was leaning towards the Renegade Vienna as we are replacing our old Class C with a good quality B+ but this level of non service by Renegade has caused me to strike them off my short list. My view is that issues and errors can occur to anyone building anything. It is how it is handled that really counts. Their level of support sounds horrendous. It is unacceptable for such a supposedly high end product. I am now leaning towards a Grech B van or a custom Humble Road B van. Both appear to have fantastic quality and after sales support. Thanks for the well documented and eye opening video!!! We need more like this!
I know every manufacturer has customers with horror stories, but I really thought renegade was a cut above. They should’ve had a replacement generator in that thing immediately, on a brand new rig that cost that much? They can deal with Onan, not make their brand new customer deal with this. I think if I ever did buy anything at this price level, I’d require the dealer to give me a 90 day moneyback guarantee if anything goes wrong that can’t be fixed immediately. If they don’t trust their products to last 90 days what the hell are we doing buying these things? I have to scratch Renegade off my list too but I’ve got nobody else to go to now so I’m pretty much scrapping the whole idea of this motorhome recreational lifestyle. The way fuel prices are going that’s probably best anyway. I got other things to do with my money.

Renegade has a lot of issues. You’ll be left to deal with these.

The new 2023 vienna renegade has the lithium extended option, where they remove the generator and put 720ah lithium batteries and 3000w inverter and two alternators 280ah. The A/C works ion the batteries. They modified the system to allow a/c without generator. Generator are crap and forbidden most of the time anyway. I don’t understand why rvs are stuck with this crappy noisy generator. You still have most of the companies that are stubborn and sell the same old crap. REMOVE your generator and customize the rv with Lithionics batteries and victron multiplus 3000w inverter, link distribution surge protector and wireless module with two alternators 280ah, and at the same time remove the toilet and put Cinderella incinerator toilet. You can remove the black tank as well. You will save plenty of cargo capacity . Eventually add an additional propane tank for more off grid trip.
That might make sense for an RV application. This unit is used as a mobile recording studio and requires the generator to run all the equipment. I've never had a client offer an electric hook up and the solar panels (375w) are just not enough. Cummins Onan has stood by their product and made sure it functions as advertised. There is no way we could run A/C, recording equipment, charge camera batteries, use computers and often feed electric to film lighting on 720ah lithium and solar.
Everytime I think about getting a RV, I watch some of these videos about all the problems that can happen with any RV. I'll stay with hotels.
The moral of the story is .....do not buy a Renegade RV. Thank you so much for your amazing documentation. Originally, I had buyer remorse for our airstream because of a loud generator and horrible roof ac, but knock on wood never a down or none working day. Daily driver 140,000 miles and counting. Thanks again you gained a new subcriber👏

Mine is a 2020 diesel onan 3200 and yours looks different looks like they put a Bosh’s fuel system for emissions mine does not it’s just a reg small fuel pump 23 bucks on Amazon … my guess is your is first year working out the bugs I’m guessing…..do an oil change weekly if your running it a lot boondocking and Dont use synthetic unless they changed that on the new ones….if this one goes I’m pulling it out and making storage compartment… that new Honda 3200 is 59lbs

The generator has been perfect since the third one was installed. The QD3200 has my stamp of approval now.
Excellent video. Unfortunately so many RV mfgs have poor service, that’s why companies like Leisure Travel and Airstream have such long waits on units, they make higher quality products but even more important, they are responsive to their customers.
That's good to know, if I ever purchase another on of these.

If Renegade is bothered about your video, that is just too darn bad. Maybe they should have considered customer service BEFORE taking your money. Thank you for sharing and I hope other RV manufacturers see this too. That day is long gone when manufacturers can pass off crap without consequences.

Subscriped Omg please do MORE videos . And I see the solar was not addressed or fixed at all. You pay that much for this RV you're having to do a lot of the work yourself. Totally ridiculous if you ask me. As I am a woman I wouldn't be able to do the things you did. If I buy something that expensive I want to be able to get in drive it hassle-free. I never want to buy one 😆

Perfect example of how the RV industry works. The “blame” game keeps going around and the “arrow” you used keeps moving constantly. Loved both videos on your issues and had to laugh when Renegade sent you an email about not liking them. Guess they did not pay attention to the disclaimers you had at the start of both videos? Your persistence and documentation are what every new RV owner needs to see and understand they will need to undertake with a new purchase. New Rv’s are going to have issues and owners need to realize depending on the coach, manufacturer, if the unit was completed on a Friday and a multitude of other unforeseen variables that could make that first outing a nightmare when components on these units don’t work right or fail. Waiting for the next video!
John, you hit the nail on the head. I wish someone would have made this video BEFORE I purchased. Guess I drank the kool-aid from Renegade (and a few dealers) on how the "High Quality" RV is so much better. Live and learn.

Just two comments: I cannot get my entry keypad to work, Renegade has no customer service. Third comment: other than that, my 2022 Vienna works perfect. Glad you got your gen set working.
My Bauer entry lock failed 2x..called Bauer direct for theses issues. Hope this 3rd lock lasts!

This is perfect timing. I know that all RV's have problems, but customer service makes this brand an automatic HARD NO. I will shop around this company for sure.

Yeah, where else can you go? It’s sad. Can you imagine if 95% of car buyers knew and accepted the fact that they were gonna have to have their vehicles back at the dealer for warranty repairs for weeks, multiple times…just a fact of life? It’s crazy.

Mine is in a 2020 Winnebago Navion.
I'm sure glad mine is pre-2021. No issues. Sorry for all your problems. RV dealer service sucks in most cases. The do call back when you're looking to buy one though. Good luck
It was funny how Van City RV (the RV Dealer) did follow up when I was looking to purchase.
Again this is COMMON behavior . They love you to buy it but zero help afterwards. We stopped using RV once the engine blew spark plugs ( ecovan E350 e450 recalled titan engines but not our year. So between bad engine Ford Titan and Onan Cummins gen set ruined RV for us. The RV was StatFlyte98 Coach man ( supreme) it was 4th gen set ( my cousin's owned this RV since birth 98 we got it 2002 ( new gen set , new ac, new fridge, new mw, 60k miles gas ) yes we replaced ac ( if gen set doesn't work right it can ruin your batteries and attached stuff...so ended up with 2 new fridges ( dometic) and gave up using it as storage . 2 new microwave ( last dealer put in a home mw Wth) Gen set got worse ( left us stranded 5 x with 5 dogs ..it s hard to get a room with 5 dogs but summer in RI or Denver is hot to kill them) I want an RV. I expect problems but yours and mine Onan etc is unacceptable. But these companies think they can get away with murder

That gen set sucked. We blew 15 fuses and it stopped working on middle School f the summer. We got new one in PA but took 4-7 weeks to wait (6+ weeks we had to use hotel) I'm embarrassed how bad customer service is for gen set, cumin's , etc. I won't buy another from them ever again . Thanks

They got my $$$,$$$ the manufacture and dealer have no use for me now...
@crandtherv2012 they should though, if there service was great and kept the customer happy, he's more likely to do business again with them, but if his first purchase experience was like this I doubt anyone would even think of buying anything from them. Atleast the issue got fixed after all that long time. Hope you're having fun with man.

Renegade has not offered any help with the solar charger issue. I will purchase a new Victron Smart Solar charger / controller MPPT and replace the Jaboni controller when the RV comes out of storage.

I'm not sure any of the other vendor's in the RV world would be any better.
Thank goodness my older QD 3200 with 600 hours on it runs great never had a problem after watching this video I will never buy a new Renegade, I though Winnebago service was bad, they were great compared to what Renegade did for you, terrible service..

We are looking at manufactures and options for a Class C… Wonder why Renegade doesn’t like your video? I thought it was well done, entertaining, and informative. Full of drama, suspense, and mind blowing disappointment. Oh, I get it… yea, I’m no longer considering Renegade… Yet, about that generator, is there a way to tell what version of the software is installed so one could check prior to signing the papers on a new RV from anyone that uses the same generator? Can’t wait to watch the sequel…. thanks for sharing your experience.
