A popular fan theory: It's known that Gerald visited the Mystic Ruins and Angel Island. There was a mural on Angel Island that showed a hedgehog fighting a robot, essentially a prophecy of Super Sonic defeating Eggman in Sonic 3. When they were making Shadow, they wanted him to be a supersonic hedgehog like Sonic who could move just as fast. But they wanted to differentiate him from Sonic by having him skate instead of run. That's literally the only reason why he skates. The biolizard is familiar because it waa boss from Sonic Adventure 2

Im glad I never played this game as a kid. I easily rage quit on super Mario bros 3 because I thought that was hard as a kid. I played battle toads on emulator for the first time and it's friggen brutal! 😅

BEST GAME EVER

Yes, SNES version has superior music (well, because it's sampled ) and better color pallettes. But many other things were literally butchered and chopped down. All animations were shortened by few frames(less smooth, more choppy - animation IS vital for cartoon game, ain't it?), sound FX and speech samples are garbled and shortened almost to nothing, resolution is lower. Sega version was the original they've planned to smooth out from start to finish. It was built with Genesis' pros and cons in mind. The so-called "ultimate version" may be the SEGA-CD one. It's close to that, anyway.

When I was a kid - I didn't even understand what I needed to do to beat the game because the "videogame logic" was so different from all other games at the time. The woke Journo’s don’t know what makes a game good. They think copious amounts of DEI pandering is the only thing games need to be good. They are pathetic and need to get a real life, or learn how to do their job correctly. The major problem is too many so called professionals working in and around the entertainment industry identify as Activists foremost above what they are actually getting hired and paid to do. These people shouldn’t be allowed to get jobs outside of working for non-profits. Sweet Baby is fucking with all these developers ability to make money, because Sweet Baby isn’t in it for the money, all the want to do is remake the world in their fun house mirror mockery of what society should be in their deluded eyes.

The only people hating on this game are ultra woke journo’s who are mad because it doesn’t have any black trans characters in it, and making up lies about how the developers are sexist. Oh, and people who suck at the game and are butthurt about it, and From Software Stans who have to hate on the game because it’s not a soul crushing masochistic nightmare like the Soulsborne games.

Welcome to the Metroid fandom! Its kinda lonely here sometimes lol I know I'm in the minority, but I'd like to make a recommendation: Zero Mission is a great game but its not a very good remake in my opinion. It changes the story and the ending (and not for the better IMO) and removes a lot elements that are referenced in later games. If you want the true Metroid 1 experience but in a modern context, I highly recommend Metroid Planets. Its a fan made remake of the original and is way more faithful to the source material. It also plays incredibly well. And its free. lol. Just a humble suggestion. Good luck with the channel! 👍

I actually get your point about Carnage. I remember when I was younger and saw how the marketing for games, animated shows, and toys all did this "Look, we're so edgy and so EXTREME" thing and then you had that upbeat action music in intro credits that would pump you up occasionally and everything had to be very fast and visually graphic. That was an expression of the 80s and the 90s and, while it was a bit too much for some shows and products, that exaggeration sometimes really paid off and people still love that bit of showmanship. Venom was a character that actually benefitted from that period and the effect is still up to this day. Carnage came a while later but I think you're right that people caught on to that marketing trend and being a byproduct of that decline probably didn't do him much good either. I believe the trend stayed until the 2000s and some of it was recycled but it's not something you see too much nowadays. But I always loved when games like Ultimate Spider-Man brought exposure to lesser-known Marvel characters. Carnage had appeared before this in games and comics like Maximum Carnage or that Spider-Man game where he takes over Doc Ock. But despite the exposure in recent decades, the character was always stuck as a true chaotic evil character while Venom had somewhat of a redemption arc. Personally, I think it's an easy character to portray accurately and viciously but a harder one to nail down.

I get what you mean about the Carnage thing. I think another reason he was conceived was because Venom was super popular at the time and since he was getting a redemption arc and would become more of an anti hero than villain, they developed Carnage to be a true villain. It was also a good excuse to expand on the symbiote lore, which became an integral part of Marvel lore in the end.
