Taking the ordinary, and seeking its tune so it can sing.
If it is paper I will do something with it, print it, cut it, fold it, tear it, stamp it, heat it, paint it, ink it, spray it, write on it, draw on it, sometimes I even make it. Fabric comes a close second. But that doesn't stop me playing with other mediums too, you will see clay and wool, just about anything and everything.

This is was a challenge in 'The Foxy Crafters' Facebook Group for September 2024. There were two prompts 'Music and Lyrics'; and 'Give us a Clue'. Almost before I read it Nick Cave's song 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' was singing in my head, a mash-up of both prompts. This is an excellent book cover. It is so interesting how the “look” of the holz fabric changed once you cut it down. From grunge to a kind of Monet feel.
@redparrot9489 one of the reasons I love that particular fabric so much is its chameleonic qualities, glad that particular thing came across as the fabric could have looked like an odd choice.

There is so much good information in this video! Thank you for the detail on the fabric corners. I seem to mess this but up a lot. The shank is also very informative. I have not done it, as it has intimidated me! No longer! I love your fabric choices! I cannot wait to see how you are going to bind this!

Thank you for sharing how to cut the corners as i always have my corners showing.... love the fabric 🐿 and love the entire process, i was wondering how to do a new spine if the covers work but the original spine is not the correct width... my only question is when doing the inside covers with fabric and you have folded over the corners .. does it not becone to thick when you glue it down? Like i said in Wednesdays comment i love recycling old books. 😊 thx for today's post 🎉
Thank you for your comment Judy. I might had edited out the bit when I said, you can only to the folded over method when you have thin fabric, like cotton - the fabric I did my printing on. For thicker fabrics, like the foxy material, you need to cut your corners. Sorry for not leaving it in, but thank you for asking, in case others where also wondering. If I was then going to sew into my spine, I wouldn't use this method, this is really for a hidden spine. If you want to sew in the spine a new spine I would use an amazon bag or some other thick paper bag cover with the fabric and then put that in place. I hope that makes sense. I will do a journal cover that way some point next month.

I guess I'm in good company ... I haven't finished my signatures, didn't make any embellishments yet, & now I have to work on a cover. But I plan to have the journal done by the end of the month. Love your covers. Hugs from Ireland.

I am really looking forward to seeing your final on this. I am loving seeing it come together. Vanilla Almond milk, unsweetened is what I use. They just add vanilla flavor to it. I mostly use it for coffee. On the rare occasion that I eat cereal, I use it for that as well.
I can imagine that would be lovely made into hot chocolate!

@redparrot9489 I think that punch must be at least 15 years old , one edge of it is quite blunt. It has taken me a long time to gather my supplies, and I am growing increasingly fussy over what I will give house room to 🤣

I like the idea of gluing down the flap of the envelope and then you can flip it up. I often want to use an envelope, but I also want to be able to see the back of it!
