    A ‘favorite director’ for me means i will watch anything they do. even if i don’t care about the actors or the genre. Almost all of the mentioned directors fit that criteria for me. a couple honorable mentions. Nancy Meyers. not blockbusters but she’s a fantastic story teller that gets great/unexpected performances from actors. much like Wes Anderson, she has her very specific bag of tricks but i always want to see each permutation. The Holiday is an annual watch for us. and Gore Verbinski as one of the most genre-breaking storytellers. his range is impressive. The Ring. Mousehunt. The Mexican. The Cure for Wellness. Rango. The Weatherman. Lone Ranger. and of course, Pirates of the Caribbean. next to Spielberg, i think he’s the most versatile +1 on a Iron Giant live action. but i’d like to see JJ Abram’s helm it with Brad Bird heavily involved. i think JJ approaches remakes with a reverence to source material. and Super8 shows he can get decent performances out of kids. 😁

    • @GottaSeeMovie

    To me, The Abyss is James Cameron's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. No matter how you look at it, The Abyss showed that Cameron is just as great at cornball storytelling as Steven Spielberg. That said, Cameron proved once and for all that he was a much better storyteller with his next movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day

    • @GottaSeeMovie

      Ya I totally see the Abyss as his Close Encounters as well. Yes Camron nailed it out of the park with his very next movie T2. It took Spilberg one more ok film before he got to Raiders.

    Lothar was based off an actual actor of the time, Rondo Hatton (Lothar also appeared in the sequel story ark 'Adventures in New York' graphic novel) If you do any read up on Dave Stevens, you'll learn he's a nut about this era and time and was on the set often to make sure the culture and atmosphere was accurate. Also, the movie failed because it was against T2 but more importantly, Disney saw $$$ in toy sales and shifted from a harder Touchstone Pictures (Owned by Disney) film to Disney and they never knew how to market this so it got lost.

  • @Lambertinitamika
    @Lambertinitamika 7 месяцев назад

    Sooo... I had this idea for quite some time, but which I've had to adjust since the Passing of the Great Alan Arkin. It goes something like... A sequel with Bill Campbell and Jennifer Connelly Years 20 to 30 (?) years later. (They could be together or separated or divorced. (The story works either way...) They have a kid who discovers Peevy's sketches and renderings of the rocket pack improvements in his old workshop. After asking the old timers who he had often heard talking about 'The Rocketeer' in the barbershop and local pub, he begins to believe what he previously dismissed as tall stories. He confronts his parents, who had hidden the truth after what happened to Cliff, and they are forced to admit and confess about their past exploits. They tell him to put it out of his mind because of the danger, but he cannot get over it and starts looking for old newspaper articles and the like. Meanwhile there is a plot to extort money from wealthy engineer Errol Musk (The name is a convenient nod to the first film's Neville Sinclair which was a nod to Errol Flynn...) by kidnapping his infant son. The bulk of the film involves Cliff and Jenny's child mastering the rocket pack (Built by Errol using Peevy's detailed drawings) and eventually foiling the kidnapping of Errol's son. Elon who would later (Not known then of course...) grow up to be greatly fascinated by Rocket technology. 😌

  • @LukeLovesRose
    @LukeLovesRose 7 месяцев назад

    The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation. The Terminator is possibly the greatest "B-movie" ever made. By that i mean, it is the greatest low-budget sci-fi ever produced. Some of the effects stand out like a sore thumb. But The Terminator is still a great inspiration for future filmmakers. Cameron showed us what can be possible on a small budget and its freaking amazing. T2 on the other hand is the greatest action movie ever made. Cameron showed us whats possible once youve established yourself in the industry. And its freaking phenomenal. I mean, Linda Hamilton was so great in T2, she made Sarah Connor one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles ever put on film. Her Sarah Connor is right up there with Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.

    • @GottaSeeMovie
      @GottaSeeMovie 7 месяцев назад

      Totally agree. Sarah Connor is top five action characters of all time. I love her story arc from part one to part two. Her opening scene in T2 with her doing pull ups in her cell in a mental institution tells me all I need to know what this character has been up to since the first film.
