    Have you ever noticed that after he leaves she pauses, sighs and then her right hand falls? Up until that point, the movie had kinda been a positive experience albeit with drugs. Once she drops her right hand, the movie nosedives for all of them.

    This scene completely kills me. She reminds me of my mother in this scene. I don't think there is a single scene in any move that affects me as much as this one.

    she was ROBBED of the Oscar in 2000 by Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich. i mean really? she was better than this???? not in a million years.

    I love the way she introduces the scene. She starts being very happy because her only relative comes to visit her. Then, slowly, she explain the heartbreaking story she hides. Wonderful!!

      because Julia Roberts bought / stole her Oscar.

    This moment makes the whole movie make sense. Human misery has no answer. People need a solution to all of lifes' problem and heroin is a momentary solution. The next scene when he shoots up in the cab is also amazing.

    (at around 44 mins) During Ellen Burstyn's impassioned monologue about how it feels to be old, cinematographer Matthew Libatique accidentally let the camera drift off-target. When director Darren Aronofsky called "cut" and confronted him about it, he realized the reason Libatique had let the camera drift was because he had been crying during the take and fogged up the camera's eyepiece. This was the take used in the final print.

    • @tyisnt
      @tyisnt 7 лет назад

      joemalola yeah but that's the point of the movie, if he would've came and visited, it would've defeated the purpose of the message the director was getting across, and that's that addiction takes over your life, and they all become dependent on those addictions, and they spiral to their lowest points possible, the message was very clear and you're right, but it would've defeated the purpose

      Tyler i thought the main idea of the movie was not being addicted to drugs but the death of dreams. Thus why its called Requiem for a dream

    This fucking scene! it always get me when Harry starts crying, you can tell he really really loves his mother and is heartbroken when she reveals the fact that she feels lonely and old, using amphetamines to loose weight and an overall desperation to feel needed/wanted again. so sad :(
