Redcat Everest 10: Lets MOD it Pt.1
Просмотров 10 тыс.3 года назад
1st part of the modding of the my redcat everest 10. I'm really liking the amount of customization you can do on this truck and in this 1st part I add hub extensions and change the links positions to lower the truck's center of gravity and make it more stable.

Browsing Sites for a NEW RC

So I got the itch, urge or temptation to buy a new RC as all my bashers need some kind of maintenance. But can't really decide on what to get or if should get one at all. so I take a look at some of my favorite rc websites and I'm on the fence. which one should I get or should I just not buy any at all right now and just repair my RCs.

VRX Cobra 3s Bash: Catching Air & Backflips

Had the VRX Cobra at the Tsing Yi site as well. Plenty of power on 3s lipo and able to do backflips easily. So far I haven't broken anything besides the body.

VRX Cobra 1st bash: mini bash on 3s Lipo

So after painting the body, I take the VRX cobra to one of my bash sites for a quick spin. This is a mini bash on 3s lipo. The car is 4s capable. I liked how it performed and the paint job makes the car look good.
VRX Cobra: Splashing that Paint Job
Просмотров 2613 года назад
It was a warm sunny day and I had the time to paint the body of the VRX cobra. Doing it using masking tape usually ends up with some errors. But I did the best I could and I'm liking the colors I chose. The colors used were: black, Racing blue, and silver. I think the total cost of the 3 cans of paint was more than the body itself. HAHAHAH.

What brand is your lock tight
👍🔝👍
I'm thinking on buying this one, how is the aftermarket support nowdays?
Your racing blue is Tamiya TS-51 which is NOT for lexan bodies you NOOB. That whole paint job probably flaked away pretty much as soon as you drove that RC. Stupid to make a vid to show ppl how to paint when you yourself cant even get it right...
Since you asked: I have 18 Redcats and they're all fully custom. (wow, do I really have so many?) So let's see and I'm sure I'll miss something: Two tricked out 16th scale Tremors (pre-Volcano16) that are 6 years old, still running and look like new: Three all custom brushless Ground Pounders, one as the Ground Pounder, one as the Amsoil team truck, and one as the Grave Digger. (brushless, engine sound, sway bars, custom air shocks, wheelie bars and lights): A stock 3s TRMT10E basher, (awesome by itself and it's a Team Redcat): One pretty stock Blackout brushless suburban, I've gone through 5 bodies but the truck won't break: Five all metal custom 10th scale Lightning cars: One as a 1969 Camaro Z28, one as a 1978 Trans Am Blackbird, one as a Ford GT, One as a Zonda exotic, one as a 1972 Pantera, and one as a somewhat stock 3s Redcat Lightning. All run 3s with gyros, and various motors. Most motors are Toro 4-pole 4900 KV racing motors which turn over 54,000 rpm at 3s. A couple are 5400 KV racing motors that theoretically can turn just shy of 60,000 and go 100mph. All the cars are fully metal, except for soft plastic body posts, (except the Redcat Lightning, it still has it's factory plastic chassis and electronics) with custom polycarbonate bodies and custom paint: Two 10th scale all metal/ one nitro/ custom Volcano monster trucks: One all metal custom nitro Shockwave buggy. And one giant 5th scale all metal custom Rampage that runs on gasoline and weighs almost 60 lbs. (over 2 grand and 100hrs for that baby): Oh, and a Gen7 Everest pro fully stock rock climber, with a LIPO. And that's 17. Most all of them run 3s, and gyro's with a unified Radio Link transmitter that runs them all and stores them by name. Almost all have engine sound, which is really cool as well. I never listed them all before and that's a lot. All are Redcats and all are really top shelf and kept in "like new" condition. Batteries are all Atomik Venom 11.1 5000's or bigger, 35c or 50c. And one Hexfly 11.1 hard brick 30c. The best batteries money can buy. And I almost forgot, a brand new Volcano16 and I'm working on that now. That's 18. If you add in my Gool 16889A, and my Hosim X07, that's 20 even. Plus construction equipment. What do you want to know, other than am I crazy? What can I do? I run them, break them, improve them, make them really go fast which causes me to break them more, and I wind up fully custom building them because I make them really go fast and they have to take a crash, and I wind up collecting them. I keep them in perfect shape so rarely does one get thrown out. Multiply that by years and years and years. My favorite? Easy, the Grave Digger/ Ground Pounder. Over 40 companies supplied parts for her, and she took a whole year to build from concept. And she is just gorgeous.
What a great truck. It looks awesome and from what I can see it's easy to modify and repair. Nice work buddy. 🏆
Hey it really was a nice truck with plenty of ways to mod it. Sadly I had to relocate last year and due to the amount of luggage my family and I had I just couldn't bring my RCs with me. Hence the reason for no new content in a long time
@@mace2gorc872 That's kind of sad. We really get connected to our cars. Hopefully you can restart your collection with some of the new products out there. The Losi Lasernut has been something I have really wanted but I just cant see spending that much money right now so my next purchase will probably be a crawler and the Everest 10 just seems like a logical choice. It would be my first crawler ever so I'm excited about that. Hopefully you will get your channel going strong again. Best of luck.
Nice
I love it
Very nice bro
Just got one hopefully it's worth the price
Awesome! I made video doing the same thing with mine. Almost same dialogue as well! Don’t worry it’s not on RUclips though haha
I’ve got one, after about 200$ in mods after purchase it is the most reliable/capable rig in my collection! Love this truck. Insight for future mods would be shock keys first to stand up the shock angle and reduce torque twist, and get better tires. It will totally change the truck. Mine has Traxxas 21t crawler motor (from the trx4) and hobby wing ESC. plastic transmission gears were the first thing to fail so they got metal upgrade, wheel spacers and tires…. She’s a winner man I can’t find trucks that crawl better… even my 500$ TRX-4
I have a cobra roller ordered. What shaft size does the included pinion require?
what size is it my gtr is 1/16
Thank you for your comment. It's 1/10 scale.
@@mace2gorc872 i love your gtr its more bigger then mine
@@mace2gorc872 i have 1/16
@@mace2gorc872 where did u get the 1/10 scale from ???
i wanna buy it
Ur 1handed skill is awesome Broo !! 👍
Thanks.
how hot did that small motor got? for 1/8 i usually use an 4274 sized motors. did it hold up?
Siempre eh querido un everest 10 (aunque no confio en la electronica de stock,la modificaria por hobbywing 1080 ) y andaria de lujo! Saludos desde ciudad de mexico.
Hello from southeast alaska
Those axle spacers are way to long. Added wheel scrub, which is very hard on the servo.
Upgrade servo, its part of the fun 🤷♂️
I have a Everest 10 and took the foams out of the stock tires. It has more contact with the ground and crawls better now.
Gen 7 sport and gen8 v2. Might pick up a Everest 10 and over-motor it. Rock bouncer style!
I was surprised by the quality and performance of the gen 7 pro. Good stuff.
They are so fun when done like this, I put a regular brushed 21t Traxxas crawler motor in mine and it’s WAY to much motor for it lol does flips from a stand still… it’s is so capable after about 200$ of mods it isn’t even fair to all the expensive “scale crawlers”
wow
I got an Everest 10 too, I took out the black plastic clips on the shocks it helped it get a bit lower. Also took a Dremel to the nubs on the front axle for more steering angle. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Love my Everest 10 so easy to customize to your liking/budget. Keep on wrenching.!👍
Indeed.
So all in how much this project cost? Kit and electronics? Is it cheaper then RTR? Just wondering i don’t own anything VXR? Hear they are decent
For me it ran around US $150. I just checked on AliExpress and it's over US $300(depending on the electronics) for RTR. I know different sites may have it for under $300, but even if they go for around $250 that's a big save either way. Mind you that I didn't go for the top quality electronics such as hobbywing and other such brands. Also. I already had transmitters, extra receivers, batteries I used. so that also saved me $$ Prices may have been different too at the time I bought the kit and the electronics. But I feel you would still save around $50 if you had to buy every single thing. For me I wanted the joy that came with building/putting it altogether and learning from the experience. I got the kit and the electronics from Taobao as their site had them for the lowest cost compared to others I checked. And the shipping was reasonable as I don't live far from China.
I was really impressed with this car. I did hear tho from a guy who, after watching his videos, said the diffs are a weak point for this specific car. I Haven't had such experience yet. The spur is plastic, which I only recently upgraded to a steel one, but the plastic was still fine when I swapped it for the steel. The body is trash if you don't reinforce it. I haven't broken any parts, mind you I'm not an extreme basher I just do the average stuff. It backflips well too. It has done plenty of cartwheels on crashes and no breaks.
@@mace2gorc872 thanks man, much appreciate the response, i might pick one up and build it myself, like you did😉👍🏼💯
Bro. Get the Losi LMT 😃 Or also look at Kyosho newly re-released USA-1
My pockets aren't that deep bro 😂. I wish they were. Such a good RC. I'm jealous of those who have one.
MaH stands for milliamp. And connecting two 2's batteries to achieve 4S is known as a series connection not parallel and also you need to learn how to edit your videos so that when the music comes on it doesn't wake up the entire household. Until you can get these things figured out nobody will watch your videos
Love the build! Specs on the esc n motor?
Great bash mate...looking great😍 Perfect spot👌👌 Kip it up champ👑
Let's see your Cobra again I love it.
I like the cobra too. It has either a diff or motor problem right now. That's why I haven't posted any vids of it lately. If it's a motor problem then it would be the result of too many crashes and rolls that I think the vibrations sent shocks to the motor and knocked it out. Gonna look into it more and see if I need to order a new motor.
Awesome crawling bro! 👍👍
Were did u get the blue body at
It came as a clear body and I painted it those colors. I got the preassembled kit version of this truggy.
A nice strong car right here. Ok. It's a Song 'n flower for you.
Well you learned people to always look at motorshaft sizes and compatible pinions. It's a mistake all of us make in the beginning
I subb to😉
That esc has the braking force to 100% from factory and will broke the differentials. Try to by an esc programming card.😉
According to it's manual it says it is set to 50% it does feel like 50 when I use it and so far I haven't seen any serious wear on the gears. The spur gear in the center is plastic(I already bought a steel one), but the plastic is holding up nicely considering all the cartwheels and bad landing this truggy has suffered. So far I've only broken the bottom part that the cap screws on to for the shock body and certain areas of the truggy's body. Nothing else. I'm impressed.
@@mace2gorc872 nice! I have bought the hsp 94111 kit and with that esc I broken the front diff and all dogbones!😕 and when i checked with programming card the braking was at 100%. Weird. Cheers
I would like to see more from the Cobra. Looks epic.
I haven't been able to get out lately as work has been something else and really has taken up most of my time and makes me tired. Between that and family it's been a little challenging. I plan to do a review and final thoughts video in the near future.
Hello! Thanks for this video. I’m thinking to buy this as I’ve never had a 1:10 truck.. only 1:10 vehicle I have is a tamiya tt01 and the rest are smaller. So the weak parts are the steering knuckles? Do I have to worry about the cvds? Are the rods connecting to the steering knuckles strong enough? I’ve seen somebody in another video snapped the rod instead of breaking the knuckle.. I’ve thought of getting a 3D printer but found this. is this truck worth buying or should I save my money? Thanks!
Thanks for your comment and apology for such a late reply. I actually forgot about it due to work. As of this video I ended up installing the aluminium ones and haven't had an issue with them or the rods that connect to them. What I ended up breaking afterwards(twice) was the center driveshaft pin on the front head/end that goes into the drivecup. I'm still exactly sure why that broke on 2 separate shafts. I thought it was a bit of bad luck on the replacement one as after just one hour of using the truck it broke. Then I saw the front center drive cup was damaged and guessed maybe that's the reason(it wasn't broke/but there was alot of wear on it. So I swapped that out and so far have broken the pin in the new replacement after 2 bash sessions now.
If you can find this truck for sale/less than the MSRP(which I did, for about $35US) less, then it's a good truck to have. I'm owing my experience to bad luck. So if you find it for cheaper, it doesn't hurt to then just get the aluminum hubs.
@@mace2gorc872 lol its alright. Just wanted to update that I got the truck, and I've been pretty happy about it. Haven't broke a single part yet, but I guess that's because I have no place to bash this thing other than driving it on my neighborhood roads and do very long wheelies with it. Got mine for about $240 USD
Excellent run my friend 👍🏻🙆🏻♂️
Wow, that looks so good👍
💯🚀
thanks for watching
Wicked bro 🤠
this truck is alot of fun. its mad on 3s lipo. 2s is plenty so I think that's where I will stay for now. thanks fro watching
More videos :)
I hear ya loud and clear, I will be getting some up in the future as really its only on Sundays that I have the time to go out mess with my RCs. some unboxing and other ones will come. Check out the trailer I just dropped yesterday for a future vid. Have a good day
hey!! did you use a 3s battery on it??
When I broke it I was not using 3s lipo. But the esc can take a 3s lipo and I have used it in there before. Pops wheelies much easier on 3s.
Too fast on 3s yes!! I've changed the wheels with bangood wheels!! Much softer and lighter and more grip!! They absorb very well bad Landings!also looks great!! 1/10 wheels for monster trucks 4 pieces about 25-28€!
@@nikostyson3255 what wheels did you get. Do you have a link? Yeah it's fast on 3s, easy to spinout or flip in my opinion. 2s is plenty. This truck is fun tho.
@@mace2gorc872 for some reazon it dont let me write the link!! so if ypu write in bangood search 'wheels 1/10' you will see the first big 1/10 scale wheels
yo! bro? how long have u had this TRUCK? HNR? do u BASH it hard?
I've had for a month already. I don't consider my bashing hard as I have seen others throw much more at their RCs. I would say mines is medium as I don't do really big jumps or such. When the first CVD broke I though it was because I tighten the wheel nuts too much and that this caused extra pressure or something. Because I tightened both rear wheels and those are the ones that broke. But this is just speculation I don't know why though the steering hubs broke. The same side too. Maybe I'm just unlucky and got weak parts with this one.
@@mace2gorc872 where do u get ur PARTS? also any mods? u did?
@@cadworxx I got the trough through asiatees website. Seems I got the last one as they don't have this truck listed anymore. I get my parts through "Taobao" website. I haven't don't any modifications really. Only upgraded some parts to aluminium.
Could u slap some drift wheels on and make it a drift car?
That's a good question. I had a drift car in the past and the setup was slightly different. So I'm not sure. Maybe a Google search might provide the answer. I also sold this tamiya rc.
@@mace2gorc872 I will search it up, thanks. And I know I’m 4 years late 😂
i have the same!!! i love ti!! nice video!!!
Yeah, I'm glad I bought it. On 2s it's a blast. Too bad that the steering hubs seems to be a weak point.
