I traveled to Kentwood twice in 2004...1st time to see my exhibit that I donated to the Kentwood Museum...2nd time I came to install the “Home of Britney Spears Sign” that I made myself...I have never seen such a community in my life...what u have is amazing...I keep hoping that one day I can return to Kentwood and see again what I had done...I’m from Oregon....I think of Kentwood a lot of the time...Best place I’ve ever traveled to...!!!...Think of my visits there often...Amazing Community and an amazing experience!!!...❤️ u Kentwood!!!...

Right around the block from where this was shot is the old Cafe. Today, inside it, hung on one of the walls, is a huge printout of an aerial picture of the town from the late 50s. That exhibit alone is enough to prove that it's now merely a pale shell of its former self. Katrina certainly didn't help either.

Some say that the stores didn't want to compete or offer a variety..I think that they actually did themselves in but there is a mall in McComb which has a Belk's, Sears, J.C. Penney and several other nice stores too..Yes, Wal-Mart is always a factor in the local business economy but you have to remember, sales taxes in Mississippi are cheaper than Louisiana too..

I've heard the areas downfall was completely down to the WalMart in McComb, true?

I hope so..Something needs to be done with that building & I do not mean for it to be torn down...It would be nice to have it filled with music once again...A deep rich history for it too..The 1st hotel in the south to have air conditioning !! A great location for it also with Interstate 55 being nearby..

I heard that the old hotel had been turned into a recording studio..

My wife met Britney & her mother a couple years ago..Her mother was super nice & Brit was so-so...I ran into K-Fed once at the gas station..What a ego jerk !! We sometimes go to Brit's friends restaurant on the Mississippi-Louisiana state line..The place is called Nayla's...A bunch of Britneys items are in there & she herself sometimes shows up there too

Yes, I have been to Britney's House..Not in it of course, but we did get to see her in the driveway down by the roadway..They used to go to Hammond, LA (a town south of Kentwood) to eat with her sister & mom when she started out..My daughter got her autograph on one of her trips to town..We still see K-Fed around town..Usually at the gas station from time to time..

The area just outside of Detroit is pretty too, as is Baton Rouge and hundred's of other places....The video speaks for itself.....This is the REAL Kentwood.....Politics, lack of interest, motivation and money all took part in the death of Kentwood...What was once a great little town is nothing more than a wasteland..

From downtown, take Hwy. 38 East...Go to N.Lewiston Rd & turn left...It is the complex that is north of the pond with the double driveway to the west with a clearing to the east of the road...Security cameras are in use & dogs roam the property..

People paint a rosy picture of Kentwood because of Britney Spears..Maybe someone will see that video & understand that Kentwood has fallen by the wayside and could use some financial help in getting back on it's feet
