    I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was in kindergarten How the doctor 👨🏾‍⚕️ knew My mom was surprised 😮 when I kept on getting bad grades in kindergarten because I couldn’t focus on things that didn’t interest me for a long time. Also I kept moving in these ways -kicking my feet nonstop -shaking (not like shivering) -kept on moving you upper body part like, head, hands 👐🏾, arms, and I would always fidget With me pencil ✏️ and got it token away from me everyday.

    I agree with this completely. what I don't understand is why no one ever talks about ADD. it's just adhd without the hyperactivity. I was diagnosed with add last year. honestly, I'm not any different from anyone else. if someone didn't know I had add they would never even guess. I truly don't get why it's such a big deal. I only have a bit of trouble focusing sometimes.

    @TheSpirosChrist: I'm not sure on how you can disagree with one child's insights into her own mind and how this helps her describe her ADHD to others, but okay. Feel like elaborating?

    The one thing that sucks about ADHD is the low esteem. It is our Achiles' heel. It can hinder us, effecting us through out our lives, or make us great.

  • @VampireSakura94
    @VampireSakura94 11 лет назад

    So what If you have ADHD its not a big deal its part of you, and about your friends so what if you talked or did whatever you do who cares. If your friends really love you they will except you for who you really are.

    What hurts about having ADHD is that nobody understand how people with ADHD feel or thats what I think. What made me think like that is that the society I live in view ADHD people as if they were abnormal people not normal; and the worse thing is we must hide that we have ADHD from people we know. I ask myself this question everyday Why do I have to hide who I really ? I'm proud of who I am so why should I hide it. The worst part of all that is your parent saying that they are ashamed of you

    Thank you for posting this I enjoyed it! I hated that label.. Felt very distanced as a child.. Then all of a sudden everyone was like omg you're so advanced. Yet I was persecuted for years as a failure because I did not fit into the American PC perfect definition of "normal". Which I always felt was (slow) less than everything I could give.

    Cordelia. Massive video. I /teach teenage chlildren with ADHD and other "conditions". I see things as you describe them in your video; but not as clearly as do you. It is a comfort to & a resource for me, to now have your narrative on "details". When working I have a laptop with music, photos & useful stuff, which students can trawl through as they want to, and your video is going to be something they can access; maybe I should see it as an ADHD jukebox. Going to let English teacher see it too.

    @ldhansen1 Hi I am Cordelia. I am glad you enjoyed my video, and would be happy to answer your questions. 1. I wrote the script, with help from my mom. 2. I originally made this for a school speech, and my mom turned it into a video for a course that she was taking. I wrote it in hopes that presenting it in front of people, would help them to better understand me. 3. I don't remember the sources I used for celebrity names or the number of children it effects, but everything else is from personal

    @xoxoKyoko Hi I'm Cordelia. My mom responded to your video, but I wanted to as well. You shouldn't be afraid to talk to your parents, ADHD is far from any sort of defect. if anything your parents should be more understanding than anyone. If it helps, you can show them this as well as other ADHD videos. That may help them understand what it is like for you. Of course you can talk to your teacher, S/he should also be understanding, and has probably met others with ADHD, and will understand you. Tx

    @nipigongirl1234 Hi I'm Cordelia I am glad you liked my speech, but the only research I did was to be clear on the specifics (eg. names of people with ADHD). Research on ADHD messes with peoples minds. Doctors and scientists think they know what it's like to have ADHD, but unless they have it themselves, the might as well tell you they can fly. Take it from me, and I am sure that many other ADHDers will agree, only if you personally have ADHD, are you really capable of understanding what it is.

  • @btyler4606
    @btyler4606 13 лет назад

    @newzillah I agree totally. If someone with ADD or ADHD has depression and you add a level of concentration to that, the effect and result IS death. If someone has a lack of attention, the result is a lack of self-achievement and can result in death. I was a lucky one who got saved on the brink of starvation who had run out of successful options. I don't believe in suicide but the road I was traveling just stopped. No ground, no sky, nothing.

  • @Alarindris
    @Alarindris 14 лет назад

    I don't think there is an 11 year old on the planet that wants to sit in school. That's natural. Obviously that alone isn't ADHD, but a lot of parents would like to believe that. "My kid hates school, give him drugs!"

    • @innocentmaps
      @innocentmaps 7 лет назад

      Alarindris I LOVED SCHOOL. At any age. Was it frustrating for me at times? Sure - I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until my mid-thirties, but everything this girl wrote rang true - I was lucky to be placed in a "magnet" program for "gifted" students by 3rd grade, which I now realize was barely a step up from "busing", but nonetheless, I had a lot more freedom & encouragement to be creative from a very young age in school and I'm sure that helped - I've never had to summarize a novel. Analyze a theme, sure. But to have to write a summary just to prove I read the book? That's lousy, lazy teaching undoubtedly prompted by lousier, lamer policies. But even w/all the difficulties I had sitting still, the impulses to do stuff, the kids who teased me, my parents who just ignored me - I still loved going to school. I loved drama class, and writing stories, and playing foursquare at recess, and I LOVED that I had some GREAT teachers who reached out to me, and some great friends who loved school, who loved learning - who loved reading stories that inspired art projects, science and math projects like teaming up to build a suspension bridge that could hold the most weight, and in social studies and theatre class, we got to work with Saint George and the Dragon and A Midsummer Night's Dream, how I loved to write my own versions of Greek & Roman mythology for creative writing - and this was all between 4th and 6th grade! I hated going home - where we had to tiptoe around my dad's temper, or my mom's crying, or just getting yelled at for "being bad" - I was a nerdy 11 yr old girl who loved reading, writing, playing the piano and basketball, and even went to a sleepaway camp at UVA in Charlottesville, VA, where I stayed in the dorms and took classes like "The Japanese Humanities" and "The Physics of Motion"... and I knew lots of kids who wanted to go to that camp but didn't get in... So I think that saying "what 11 yr old LIKES to go school?" is not the right question. Most 11 yr olds are IN school, so most 11 yr olds want to be with their peers... If an 11 yr old REALLY despises going to school? You've got a much deeper issue on your hands.

    i sooooooooo know what your talking about

  • @newzillah
    @newzillah 14 лет назад

    Hey, Kyoko. How about talking to your teacher first and seeing if s/he thinks it might be possible. If so, s/he can call a meeting with your parents and you can explore the idea together. From there, you might be referred to a psychologist or psychometrist and your teacher and parents would be asked to fill out a survey to determine if ADHD is the diagnosis or not. Depending on your age, you might be asked to fill out a survey too. Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

    @newzillah 15 лет назад

    ... for some. If medication is a route you take, be sure you're being closely monitored by your doctor. Some ADHD meds can have such surprising side effects and it's so individual to the person as to what helps, what hinders and what may produce undesired side effects.

  • @newzillah
    @newzillah 15 лет назад

    Hi animelubbor432. Hmmm... I'd never want to play doctor on that one. If you think you have some of the signs, though, it'd be worth talking to your own doctor who could provide you and your loved ones / teachers some checklists to screen for possible ADHD or other learning challenges that you might be up against. It sounds like whether you do or don't have ADHD, some of the strategies that help people with ADHD might help you too. Definitely look into it for your own peace of mind.
