The ending could also be made more forceful or meaningful. "As Dr. Starks' eyes clouded over, she continued trying to reach for the quantum arc's generator core. If she could destabilize it, create an implosion, stop these creatures... but as blood dimmed what was left of her vision she already knew. Nothing would stop them from coming through. She would be the first to die, and the entire human race would follow. Unseeing, with her final scrap of breath, she whimpered, 'I'm so sorry!'"
