the best sounding record in my collection was recorded in the artist's House with excellent but simple gear
For real? Fabfilter?? When you have access to crazy good expensive gear?? Jesus. And to take away so much credit from the musicians and producers about the emotional feel and sound of the song. How selfish and egocentric. So much mumbo jambo talk. Mastering usually makes a already good sounding track sound better and polished, thats it! /Engineer/Producer/Musician
I tend to agree. I feel as though some Mastering Engineers have this holier than thou complex when it comes to their job. If I make a good pre master I don't want 100 different plugins on your master chain to justify your price point. Or running it through analog gear just because. You're not responsible for the 'emotion', your job is to fix some minor mix issues (if they're greater than minor tell me to fix it in the mix), bring my music to the loudness standard, retain dynamics the best you can, add the meta data or complete a vinyl premaster for me and that's it. It's all good and well to become attached to the music you master... But don't take away the artist talent & replace it with your own self worth.
@@dan_goul "I listened to the song, and it literally made me take the next step in my life." If that's not giving the artist 100% adoration and praise, I don't know what is... and the song with Fabfilter is literally HIS son (smh!).
great video, thanks for doing this!!!!! this is amazing
Thanks for watching!
seems like when he showed the unmastered flat version compared, that was just mono camera audio at 4:45? A bit misleading maybe?
Thanks for your comment! We didn't use any camera audio for any of our clips for this video. We used production grade audio systems to get the highest audio quality to make sure we deliver the right experience.
This is a great vid!
Thanks!!
Had a great time working on this and speaking with the Sterling team!
