Journals from the Wild | Camping at Mount Assiniboine
Hi loves! Welcome to another video journal - this time from my backyard, here in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. 😊 Special thanks to my partner Kris for capturing some of the clips in this video (like the grizzly bear, from a safer distance with a long lens, hehe)!
We spent several days camping in one of my favourite places on earth - Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in BC, Canada. Since returning from this adventure and editing this video, Autumn is already pretty much done here in the mountains. It's crazy to me how fast it came and went!
I'm feeling so glad that I took the time to capture this footage from our few, but perfect, Autumn days in the back-country. Editing this video was a gr...

7 days camping on the most beautiful trail in the world?
Просмотров 75 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello beautiful humans! It's been a while since my last video upload. My summer has been very full in the best of ways, and I'm finally back with some new videos to share - including this "video journal" of my week spent on the West Coast Trail. Having grown up in beautiful British Columbia, I might be biased, but I really do think this might be the most beautiful trail I've ever done. This was...

Hello lovelies! I just returned after a few days of spending some solo time on the road. I wasn't planning on making a whole video dedicated to the experience, but as I started filming it all just sort of happened, haha, and now I think this is my longest video yet. 🙈 Maybe you'll find some enjoyment out of it, or a little inspiration to slow down and enjoy some solo nature time, or at the very...

Hello you beautiful humans! It's been over a month since my last video journal update, but it almost feels more like a lifetime. Since I returned back to the Rockies at the beginning of May, we've still had snowy blizzards on and off, but just in these last couple of weeks suddenly Spring decided to hit us full force... and WOW is it BEAUTIFUL! Everything I've seen this month has reminded me ju...

Hello beautiful humans! I just got back from a few days of camping here in the Canadian Rocky mountains - our first camping trip of the year, YAY! Spring is back, the animals are waking up, the lakes are starting to open again, and I'm SOOOO HAPPY about it! AND we experienced the most spectacular aurora show while camping, too! Literally the best aurora display I've ever seen here in the Rockie...

Hello all you beautiful humans! I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into my life by the sea for the past month - I have fallen in love with the ocean so completely, I wish I could stay there forever. ❤️ Thank you so much for watching! P.S. I forgot to mention in the video: I'm SO excited to be hosting a photography CREATIVE RETREAT here by the sea, together with my partner Kris, this year from...
The Gift of Creative Ruts | Learning to be Enough

Hello you beautiful humans! I've been in quite a creative rut these last several weeks, and even began to feel quite frustrated at myself for not creating everything I had dreamed of earlier this year... so I realized I needed to step back, and see life through a wider lens for a while... which inspired me to make this video: creating something out of the raw truth of how I've been feeling so f...

Hello you beautiful humans! What's this, two videos from me for two months in a row?! I think I just broke a new record for myself. 😂 I was feeling SO inspired and encouraged by you all after the last video, so I let that inspiration carry me through the last few weeks and have been continuing to capture my life in video form. I'm so happy to share this new video with you now, and I hope it can...

Hi everyone! It's been such a long time since my last video journal, but I've been feeling so inspired these last few months to take more time to start creating for myself again (which I will talk about a little in this video, hehe)... and making videos is one of the things I would love to do more of. So I'm feeling very happy to have pieced together this little video of how I've been spending ...

5x trail veteran here (2000-2004). Very nice video. The WCT is the most beautiful place I've ever been. Even now, 20 years on, I'm drawn to videos like this to feel it, to smell it, to hear the ocean again. Over 5 trips and 31 days, only 1 day of rain, and that was on the last day (Darling to Pachena). One trip featured 7 days of glorious sunshine. Some highlights: walking the Carmannah beach barefoot from the river to moniques; meeting the carmannah lighthouse keeper on the beach below the lighthouse towards Cribbs. The man had a big telescope set up on a tripod and we watched the sea lions up close; whales at Tsocowis that were within 30 meters of the beach; meeting a group of astronomers from UBC at Michigan. These guys had star charts and were on the trail at that time specifically because there was no moon. Absolutely black and starring at the sky for hours. Hiking the shelf from Campers northbound and crossing some ridiculous surge channels, then hiking up Sandstone Creek in sandals to rejoin the trail to Walbran. And, of course, talking to other hikers at campsites and exchanging stories of misery, heroism and glory. Thanks for reading this.
Absolutely wonderful ❤
Love this format! Thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of your photography, the poetry of your narrative with the lovely accompaniment of music. Perfect trifecta! An absolute piece of art. Creating my own videos with just the right music, I can appreciate how much work you put into your productions. Forwarding this one on to a sister in Australia to enjoy as well and watching all of your work with anticipation of the next adventure.❤
Perfect 👌✨
Yikes, Girl. You are pure gold. ❤
Have you read The Salt Path by Raynor Winn? True story about a couple who lose their home due to machinations of a supposed friend so the decide to hike the South West Coastal path in England. Beautifully written!
I have!! It’s one of my favourite books, absolutely so beautifully written and inspiring - I’ve read all three books by Raynor Winn now. 🥰
@ There is supposed to be a movie about their story told in The Salt Path next year. I hope they can capture the story authentically. Movies can completely drop the Ball, unfortunately. I absolutely love your beautiful videos, Elizabeth. Some of us are trauma survivors. It is a constant battle with emotional instability. When I watch your videos I feel a settling sensation like all the balls I’m struggling to juggle fall into place and I can take a break. I hope you know how important your work is. You are spreading calm and comfort to others in an insane world. 🥰
Love that happy coffee face 🥰And I so hope you enjoyed every moment of your workshops ❤️🙏🏽
Absolutely gorgeous scenery and lady ❤️🔥🙏🏽
Simply Amazing! So beautiful!
Omg, you guys did an excellent job to capture almost all the beauty of this unforgettable trail, it is a jam of BC, all the picture, the sounds and colors reminds of my WCT trip back in 2019 summer, you are right, I am thinking to coming back again.
Beautiful perfect video✨✨
Team outlander ❤
Stunning video ! What a beautiful country!
Like watching a movie~
So breathtaking! Thank you for adding one fine spot on my bucket list.
Appreciated your account of the trail and the beautiful video clips. Brought back beautiful memories of when I hiked it with my then 11-year-old daughter. This hike was easily in the top ten. As you accurately portrayed, cable cars, bridges, and staircases served to break up the at times slow pace of mud and roots. In our case, we searched out or built many fishing rope and driftwood swings to pass the time in camp or waiting for the tides. È
Thank you, Carl! 😊 What an amazing experience that must have been with your 11-year old! I wouldn't mind being stuck at camp making driftwood swings for a while, hehe - that sounds so lovely!
That was gorgeous. I have never done the trail and never will, but BC is my birth province and it is wonderful to see the scenery and the animals with such exquisite photography. Thank you.
WOW!!! Purely EPIC on every level!!!! Thank you so very much for your amazing talents 🙏❤💫
This is the flavor of koolaid the world needs to drink. Along with a chill pill. Stop all this negativity and strife. I like the idea of winter being a time of rest and renewal. Time to hibernate and self reflect. Gather together ideas about your future endeavors while also focusing on the joy that’s in front of you right now.
Wow. What the world needs now is Elizabeth Gadd. This is so organic and peaceful. Amazing film making chops. Girl, you got it going on. I just love your zen like personality without a hint of falseness. You have talent and creativity flowing out like your hair. When I look at you I kinda see myself. When I was your age I looked a little like you. The long hair thing. I am 70 now but back in the day…yowzer, I was a little forest nymph myself, a major tree hugger. I’m not up for long hikes anymore but thank you so much for inviting us along. My heart aches to do what you are doing. Enjoy your youth and take good care of yourself so later in life you will continue to live the life you love. I mean this in the most complementary way. You’re a freak of nature!
I did this trail on 2004, with my now “x” and two friends. We were lucky, in that we had hot, sunny weather throughout. It was spectacular!!!
What month please did you do it?
Thanks for sharing. You are bringing back so many memories. I’m 69 years old. I did this trail with my ex Brian , way back in 1990 when we were 35 years old. We did Port Renfrew to Bamfield. It took us 10 days. We were trapped in our tent on the beach for 3 days, while a Gale passed us. I remember how great the shower in Bamfield felt after 10 days. What a treat. We lived on Ontario at the time but when I retired at 57 yrs. Old I moved right back to B.C. with my now husband.
your channel is magical, keep doing what you are doing sweetheart
I am surprised that it hardly rained during this trip ; I have been living for 5 years near Cape Wrath ( BALCHRICK, near Kinlochbervie) and the weather is so impredictable that I wonder how you deal with every gear wet in few days !! Kind regards .
adorable
I loved the pictures of you in the green dress surrounded by the green of Spring. I have a question: How did you come to learn or could you explain your process for your descriptive narratives during your videos? You are so descriptive and your word choice is so beautiful. I'm hoping to get into doing something similar, but am so nervous to start. I've always LOVED story telling as a kid, but now as an adult, I'm a nervous and at a lost on how to start. Any suggestions, courses or places for me to look into? Thanks
dear elisabeth , thank you for asking …and inviting… i enjoy deeply the nature pictures … madeira was for me wonderfull too but in the end to much floating dress and self images i was more focused on the old trees i love also if you talk to us , and share your expieriance ! lots of love and thank‘s for sharing !
Need the sound of the Forrest not the music
Thank you for this beautiful video. It brought back memories. I did the WCT with my wife in 1978. There were no cable cars or bridges then and all the ladders were rotted out.. when I’d did it solo again in 1981 the ladders and boardwalks had been replaced and improved. I’ve done a lot of backpacking and the WCT was my favourite; even beside a glorious 200 km hike in the Rockies.
Thank you, Michael!! While reading about the history of the trail I found myself wondering what it was like in the earlier days - must have been soooo difficult in places, but I can imagine always incredibly beautiful! So glad you love this trail too. 💚
Amazing!!
I am an artist I love landscape painting the most and of course one of the nature lover you are doing great job and I feel that I am with you in those scenes love you Elizabeth ❤
That was stunning. Great production. I love Vancouver Island.
This was a stunningly beautiful film. Perfect shots. Perfect editing. Perfect music. Perfect narration. You absolutely nailed this. I also did the west coast trail this year and it was EPIC. That REALLY muddy stretch from Carmanah to Camper is hilariously difficult. Endless rainforest jungle gym of mud. I also stopped filming at a certain point during that part lol. Really great job with this!
Ahhhh, thank you Mike!! That really means a lot - I'm so happy you loved this so much! It's only been a few months and I'm already craving returning to this trail, it really was epic, except for that stupidly long muddy section hahahaha, I'm glad to know I wasn't the only person suffering and giving up filming that stretch. 🤣 Thanks again for this kind comment! 🙏
Well I won't be of much help, I liked all the different types of videos you talked about. I've seen several (self portraits and this one) and I really enjoyed them. So...haha, keep up the great work.
Thank you for sharing, the Cape Wraith & West Highland Way are on my list!!
Your photography is IMPECCABLE, such a cute dog ,I’m sooooo glad I found your videos as I started the one where you came to our island and immediately subscribed as the videos are soothing ! Thanks for the journey! Keep up the good work !
Beautiful. Thank u for video. Lovely sea and fog and those trees clinging on their piece of ground while rest have disappeared. So encouraging if u think we'll just keep growing.... Loved it. From South Africa
God this the most beautiful thing I saw today ❤
