Nick Simper talks about his departure from Deep Purple. Nick & Rod Evans were pushed in an underhand way...

Hard To Be Without You/You Can't love a Child Like a Woman. Capital Promo Single 1971
I wouldn’t class Nick as an average bass player. Blackmore knew all about Simper well before he was asked to join purple , so If he didn’t think he was good enough , why ask him to join in the first place . Bit of a strange excuse really .
her beauty is mesmerizing
She's definitely the sexiest 60's rock God(ess) of all time
He played brilliantly in WARHORSE
Book of taliesyn was always my favorite album. So good!
Nick Simper is a real member of Deep Purple
Nick looks like a very nice person. Im sure that he and Rod Evans felt so betraid by the rest of the group. The honest thing that they should have done was to announce to both of them face to face like TRUE MEN that they don't want them amymore in Deep Purple. This unfortunatelly speaks volumes for the character of Lord, Paice and Blackmore.
So smart!
What a class A beautiful woman ! Just a joy to look at, amazing eyes....
Yep those eyes I could get lost in em
Grace Slick has it all. She is devastatingly beautiful, talented, extremely intelligent, a free-thinker, fiercely independent and unique. Grace is a trailblazer and I can't put it into words how much I love & respect her. I only wish I had the money to buy her paintings! There is an interview of Grace on the Dick Cavett show in 1970 and it is absolutely unreal how beautiful she is, if anyone can be considered other-worldly, it's Grace ❤💐🌸
Totally agree, she's awesome, very attractive and a brilliant personality
Really couldn't have said it any better myself... this comment is dead on!
First a brilliant musician and an unic singer plus all the rest :)
I listen more to Captain beyond and Fandango than Deep purple but i like all 3 bands.
Now I get why Rod did the fake Deep Purple reunion..... he was resentful because of the unjust TREATment.
Yes those eyes. She has too much wisdom and self respect to get along on this planet. She knows the dark and the light and deep inside doesnt feel safe.
Warhorse will always be better than Deep Purple.
I like the whole face . For me , the thing about this person is that I find what she says interesting all the while I get to gaze at that face .
Very pretty back then. Her eyes are beautiful.
Simple question - why is Roger Glover the title photograph?
Pretty messed up the way Nick and Rod were let go without warning. Deep Purple went on to make some great albums, but the way the change was handled was deplorable. From what I understand, Ritchie has been the source of tension throughout his time in Deep Purple, especially having an age-old feud with Gillian. He was likely the culprit. What can one say? He’s a great guitarist and has been very successful, but such is the way of many sociopaths. Rod probably harbored ill feelings for what happened, and rightly so. He still ended up making two stellar albums with Captain Beyond and proved he was a great rock singer. Nick really got screwed over. Hope they are both doing well.
Grace was so sexy in her younger years.
I wanted to hear what she thought of Punk Rock!
Fascinating personality.
Boy she was a real babe in her day.
Those freaking big blue eyes and her easygoing confidence= captivating.
Pete Best nearly committed suicide after he was ousted by the Beatles. It was very bitter for him, and unjust, but would we prefer the Beatles without Ringo? My respect to Nick Simper. "The Shield" remains one of my favorite songs, for decades.
Who the fcuk is Grace Slick anyway?????????????????
Man she was fine. 🔥
Grace is GORGEOUS!!
Raw, unadulterated talent. An absolutely gorgeous woman. The deepest, most interesting insight. A gift and jewell to and of this world.
Grace Slick reminds me of Lynda Carter from Wonder Woman 1970's sitcom in this video.
This is about the time discovered her. I was about 16 years old. Was listening to some Airplane. She was on GMA talking about her 40th birthday. I was smitten. Bought her new album (Dreams, which I still love today), read the biography she's talking about, and of course listend to as much Airplance (and a bit of Starship) as I could.
it's all just labels..there are no such thing as hippies...it's all made up...
Unfortunately such is the world of show business. Richie Blackmore was notorious for sacking musicians left and right, especially in Rainbow. Nick sort of got screwed because he played it honest unlike Evans who did the faux Deep Purple, yet Evans got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Simper got left out (weird). Still, I'm stricken by how humble and content Simper is.
very much
I love her very much
He was with Deep Purple for only a little more than a year. But sang on 3 albums in that short time. Sad that the band left him behind at the end of the 60s, and their bassist, Nick. This original line-up and psychedelic phase was short-lived. But at least it never faded.
She is sexy with those eyes
Listen to Nick Simpers bass playing. He was excellent.
Love her name...grease slick turned into Grace Slick totally changing its meaning...
I have always like Nic's bass playing much more then Glenn hughes."MANDRAKE ROOT" & "CHASING SHADOWS" in paticular.Inspires me to play better
THE CAPTAIN !!!
Ooh man she was so good looking.
Yeah, 'stabb'd in the back' - bin there, seen that movie several times (thankfully, not THAT much at stake in my case). Power games, huh ? I guess that - in such situations - you find out what people are REALLY made of which has got to be a blessing. F***ing painful at the time though lol !
Dayyum she's beautiful. Incredible.
x
I appreciate her openness on so many subjects.
Nick Simper was done dirty by Deep Purple and the RRHOF... we all know that... he took a lump sum of money (about 10,000 British Pounds, I believe...) when he left and signed away any royalties... Rod Evans kept his royalties until the 1980 "Fake Deep Purple" fiasco he joined up with led him to be sued by Deep Purple and their organization... he was fined over $600,000 USD... since he couldn't pay it, he gave up his royalties on the first three Deep Purple albums... and yet Rod Evans got into the RRHOF, and Nick Simper, alone out of the MK1 lime up, was left out... dirty disgraceful shame.
It makes no sense leaving out Nick from the hall of fame, he played on their first 3 albums
I was hesitating where to save this piece in my playlist ... 'History' or 'Interview' .. I ended up with a G.S. one . Cheers:)
Smart, beautiful and talented. The total package.
